Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Sunnypaw rustled carelessly through the under bushes of the forest, wearing a bright smile and relaxed body language. It was obvious his intention that morning was not to hunt. Having woken up earlier than normal, he thought a morning exploration around Springclan camp was suiting, especially for the fresh morning that Newleaf brought. His honey colored eyes gleamed in mischief as he noted a rather low branch on a near by tree. His claws extracted in anticipation and without further hesitation, he launched himself forward and up the grand tree. His claws dug deep into the truck as he quickly scaled the tree until he reach the lowered branch. He stared out in happy wonder and awe, internally celebrating his small victory with the tree. This morning couldn't get any perfect. To make it better, all he needed was to enjoy the last moments of his freedom and sneak back into camp without his mentor or father noticing-
A distant but rather close rustling caught the ginger cat's attention and he jumped slightly in surprise. His head whipped in the direction of the noise and he stood frozen, listening for further noises. It seemed to be coming in his direction. A rush of adrenaline shot through his veins and he ducked low on the branch, trying his best to blind within the leaf covered branched that grew out from the larger branch that support him all while watching the forest floor below him for the sight of the unknown intruder...
Dovewish, a previous Springclan warrior, moved throughout the forest clearly not worried about whether or not she was on Springclan territory. This had been her home all of her life and she had left it all because of a tom. She had always stayed close to the border but had not yet dared to cross it until that morning. She was almost hoping she would run into Thistlestar or his pretty little rat, Beedust. However, she didn't think they would be able to recognize her. She looked much, much different than she had when she left. She had paint markings on her body, feathers entwined in her fur, wraps around her paw, pierced ears, and a two-leg accessory around her neck. She was also much more muscular than she had been when she left and she carried herself with confidence. Scars could also be found covering her body but her soft, medium fur his the scars well. One would have to look closely to see them.
She hadn't noticed the apprentice at first until after she had passed the branch. She halted, catching a whiff of the Apprentice's scent. She turned to see the apprentice clinging to the low branch she had just recently passed under. "Oh, a Springclan kit." She mewed in disgust as her pretty blue eyes met with Sunnypaw's.
A white she-cat finally made her way into the small clearing before Sunnypaw, but instead of the wave of protective energy that had once occupied his body, he stared on with blatant curiosity. The white she-cat was painted all over with colorful strains and pickled with feathers and a strange artifact around her neck. He stared on, mouth gaping as the she-cat seemed to have passed through, not noticing him until she paused, sniffing the air around her. Sunnypaw remained staring until her vivid blue eyes caught his honey colored ones. A silent gasp escaped him and he froze, unsure of what to do now that his cover was blown, but the odd she-cat had a nonchalant reaction, hinged with a surprising amount of disgust that the apprentice didn't anticipate.
"Hey! I'm not a Kit!" He growled, climbing down the tree quickly to meet the she-cat, though he was wise to keep enough distance between the two in case the strange she-cat struck. "I am an apprentice of Springclan- And you are transgressing!" He huffed and puffed his chest out, trying to make his small size larger. Though he was the largest of his siblings, he was still smaller than the she-cat.
"Awe, how cute." She turned to face the apprentice, a rather bored expression on her face. "Well, little tyke. Are you gonna make me leave?" There seemed to be a teasing tone just at the edge of her voice, messing with him as if he was a kitty-pet cat toy.
The she-cat's taunts made the apprentice hot with frustration. His ears fell flat in a clear show of growing anger and he stepped forward, baring his fangs slightly in the most threatening way his small body could produce, which was not much frankly. "You better watch your words!" He growled, his ginger pelt standing higher in attempt to make himself appear bigger "Springclan has the best fighters known to all the clans and my father is the Leader of this clan and he could take you down before you can even bother to raise a paw!"
Dovewish's expression quickly changed, revealing a grim look. The light in her bright blue eyes disappeared and darkened as if someone had flipped a switch in her eyes. Memories flashed through her mind as she remembered her and Thistlestar racing through the snow blanketed forest, back when she had given him her heart. After a long moment of her just staring, she finally blinked away the flash backs and focused back on Sunnypaw. Her expression relaxed once more, only this time a sinister grin curled at her lips. "Ah, your Thistlestar's son, hm?" She raised a brow and lifted her chin.
The change in the she-cat was clear before Sunnypaw and he couldn't help but glow in pride. Now she was scared, as she should be. He had the upper hand and it felt so good. The feelings didn't last though as suddenly, a mischievous grin grew creepily across the she-cat's expression. Sunnypaw flinched at the sight, swallowing hard as a mixture of confusion and fear suddenly pulsed through him. Oh Starclan- his plan had backfired without expectations.
"Y-yes!" His voice shook slightly, but he pushed out the rest of the word with renewed force, his body tingling in anticipation for the worst. "So you better watch out!" The threat was loud and forced out as he struggle to find anything more threatening. He had hoped the loudness of his weak threat was loud enough to catch the ears of his fellow class mates.
"Oh, dear little one. Your father may be strong, but even he cannot harm me. Nor would he want to." Her grin spread and she stepped forward toward the apprentice. She lowered her head and whispered, "I assume your father hasn't warned you about me. Hm, big mistake on his part."
Sunnypaw stepped back as the she-cat stepped forward. Her words caused spikes of fear to tingle throughout the apprentice's body making his honey colored eyes wide with surprise. "W-w-what do you mean?" He asked shakily, finding his courage to fail as the stranger's confusing words made him reconsider his attacks. "Who are you?!"
Dovewish took another step forward. "I'm Thistlestar's worst nightmare..." She mewed under her breath but loud enough for Sunnypaw to hear, taking yet another step forward.
Sunnypaw stepped back further, trying to combat the she-cat's longer strides with his much shorter strides. At this point, he lost all inch of courage. This she-cat knew more than he did. She was obviously experienced and posed a threat of the highest. If he even dared to fight her, he would lose in a heartbeat. The realization weighed heavy on the apprentice's shoulders as he attempted to flee-
Before he could manage to convince the she-cat to let him go, he felt the edge of the hill. His thoughts and fears in his mind were so loud, he failed to hear the sounds of the river near by. As he placed the full weight on his back paw, he felt the edge of the small hill melt into nothing, leaving him off balanced and falling back and down the hill. He cried out in surprise, tumbling down the hill painfully. Before he could process it, he was hit with the shock of cold, raging water...
Dovewish rolled her eyes when he tumbled down the hill and into the water. Great. Now she's obligated to save him. She gave a huff leaping down the hill and into the cold river. She could see him flailing in the current, his head bobbing in and out of the water. Dovewish paddled, using the current to her advantage to get closer to Sunnypaw. Finally, she managed to swim up beside him and grabbed his scruff in her jaws. She then paddled to the side of the bank, letting the current guide them so that she wasn't using up her strength to fight against it. She kept his head above water until they reached the bank and she hauled herself and the Sunnypaw onto dry land. She laid the sopping apprentice gently on the ground and nudged him with her paw to make sure he was alive and breathing. "Kid, you okay?"
Shocked by the sudden coldness of the river, Sunnypaw found himself frozen and struggling to find the surface as he tumbled under water. Panic set in, but it didn't last long as he felt a painful yank on his scruff. He was lifted enough to gasp for air, choking back on some of the water that made it in his mouth. Suddenly, he was padding in the direction of the surface. Confusion lingered for just a moment before he realized another cat was swimming him to safetly. As they made it to the edge, Sunnypaw was carried up and out of the water and laid carefully onto the dirt floor. He continued his fit of coughing, now fully reaching for air. His amber eyes stared up at the rouge cat who now stood over him with a sense of... worry? Sunnypaw blinked slowly before nodding quickly "Yeah... I'm okay." He panted, staring back up at the river with a new sense of awe and surprise. "How did you- you know how to swim?!" He asked in blatant wonder, forgetting completely about the threat the she-cat made just moments before.
"I learned from my father. Funny that Springclan apprentices still don't know how to swim after what happened to Thistlestar. Hm. You'd think he'd start training the apprentices to swim." She shrugged before shaking water droplets from her pelt. "Just stay out of rivers, okay, kid?" Once she realized he was safe and unharmed, she turned away and began to sulk off, her ears back and her tail flicking in irritation.
Confusion by the she-cat's comment about her father clouded his expression, but the sight of the she-cat walking away from him surprised him enough to shock him onto his four paws. "Wait!" He called out wildly, padding forward quickly, his drenched pelt leaving a trail of muddied steps behind him. "Wait- What do you mean? About my dad I mean?"
She kept walking as the young tom attempted to keep up with her, asking her questions. "Just like Thistlestar to be so secretive. Though, I guess I could understand him not sharing his most embarrassing moment. Your father can't swim and during the battle with the Shadow Era cats, he fell into the flooded river and drowned. I dove in after him in an attempt to save him but he still lost a life. He had asked me to give the apprentices swimming lessons but I decided to leave Springclan. I suppose he just never found a good enough replacement. Says a lot about Springclan."
