(romulus fauna is a swiftclan cat who is too young to be on the apprentice exchange but got sent anyway to get out of chim's fur. while generally good spirited, he tends to play pranks on the others. for this thread, he gets too curious one night and goes exploring by himself, where he'll run into a cat or group of cats that sweet talk him to come to a cool cave with them or something similar where he's then beat up. they don't have to be in fallclan, this is just where it starts. preferably they are older apprentices or older)
The apprentice exchange had made Romulus realize how much he liked Swiftclan. The supposed Fawnpaw was too young to be here, and with how little they were actually doing, he wished he was back in Swiftclan. Or at least in Summer or Spring where his brothers were. It felt so lonely, and he was getting a bit claustrophobic crowded in a den with all the other apprentices. Burning energy itched at him, he needed to do something. Even if it was a bad idea. Romulus was small, so navigating through the horde of apprentices was fairly easy. When he managed to tumble out and look up and see the moon and feel the cool breeze on him, he knew this was a good idea. He had to go see that sky. But his view was obstructed by trees here. Glancing around for any sign of someone waking up, the odd calico bounded away, paws kicking up this and that as he climbed up the mountain, heading deeper into the forest.
She couldn't get away with something like this in SummerClan. This was the most beautiful opportunity handed to her wrapped in calico. If she was more emotional maybe she'd cry.
Dovegarden had been out. The night was her favorite because she could leave camp and her gardening duties without lying. This way she only had to deal with any cats guarding or those who were just unable to sleep. Tonight was especially pleasant. The air wasn't as hot now that the sun was gone. A soft wind was blowing and she scratched absentmindedly as her long white fur was blown and tickled her. Then the garden keeper stood, debating what her goal tonight would be. She was still curious about that mouse the other day and its death. Perhaps she'd try the same thing on a larger animal. But would it need larger doses? She hurried to the garden, trying to keep her pawsteps light in case someone was sleeping light. Dovegarden selected a large clawful of the herbs she suspected were in the last incident and looked around for something to carry them in. There - a decent sized waxy green leaf. She placed the herbs inside and tried to grab both ends to life the leaf, succeeding after a couple of attempts. Then Dovegarden had walked out of camp.
And here she was now. Her leaves were far behind her, annoyingly misplaced. Dovegarden had scented a rabbit of all things and the creature was perfect for what she had in mind. She'd chased further than she'd meant and found herself at the FallClan border. However, obeying territory lines wasn't high up on her moral code, so she'd passed without care and continued hunting that rabbit. And then a different scent had distracted her. Another cat. Dovegarden had quieted her movements, staying in the shadows and backing up to the border where her scent would make more sense if it were picked up. But then she'd remembered those herbs and her failed mission tonight. No, she wouldn't mess this up again. So she'd found a spot out in the open and now she waited, sitting still with an expectant expression on her face.
And then there he was. She could see him through the foliage as he passed her. A small tom running by through the trees, multi-colored and best of all alone. Yes, this was perfect. She allowed herself some self-congratulation for being so determined and patient and then picked herself up, calmly following his scent up the mountain.

As it turned out, the night was pretty nice. Little bugs he could barely see flew by his face and would barely dodge his claws. The smell of Fallclan was almost suffocating, and as he walked he would swear he walked by the same rock 5 times already. Unintentionally going in circles, yet still finding new things to see. Bugs crawling around in the dark, starlight just barely peeking through the trees, glowing orbs like eyes that seemed to stare at him. Okay, the last one was creepy, but Romulus kept eye contact with it till he blinked and it was gone. Now only burned into his eyes for a few minutes before disappearing altogether.
Slipping through some new brush, the little calico came upon a cave. Large enough to swallow him, but shallow until the earth above gave way and let light inside. There wasn't a soul in it, and Romulus made his grave mistake of being the first to occupy it. Sure, he was no closer to looking at the stars, but maybe there was something buried under the rock. "I wish the others were here." He muttered to himself before slipping in, pressing his front paws along the wall, searching for some weak spot.
The she-cat trailed behind, keeping her steps quiet but not being able to help the fun of the hunt. It was amusing to let herself get close enough to him to be seen. He didn't seem to notice her until one point in which his gaze met hers for a steady few heartbeats. Then she pulled away, slipping back into the shadows. He didn't follow. On and on they went, this time taking a new path. Dovegarden watched as the calico slid his body into a FallClan cave. This was interesting to her. Perhaps he had a secret meeting there tonight? That would certainly ruin her night. She didn't want her prey to get away again. But she thought a little more and considered the tom's earlier actions of running in circles. Maybe he didn't know where he was going, or maybe he was just out for a run. The garden keeper needed to be very careful when approaching. She tried to be even quieter than earlier, barely even breathing now as she crept toward him. What would he do if she spooked him? Run or fight? Either would amuse her, she thought.
One more little scare though first. Dovegarden eyed the cave, looking for the best place. Then she lightly climbed up on a nearby higher elevation, trying to put herself further up than the other cat. She wanted her voice to echo if it managed to reach the cave. She let out a loud yowl, voice cutting through the night. Then she sat still. The air was windier even this slightest bit up - not even the height of a tree - and it ruffled her fur, distributing her scent into the area. No doubt he would find her, but that was alright. She was in charge of this and she had allowed him to. Dovegarden waited for his response. If there were other cats with him, she already had an idea in place.

Romulus Fauna pouted as he kept trailing along the wall. Nothing. Not a thing gave way or even so much as moved. He was still tiny so it was fair, but it still bummed him out. Maybe he should have bugged someone to go with him, cept that would have meant another cat that would get angry when he inevitably would snitch on them.
The little calico was just about to give up when a loud yowl echoed through the cave. Kaleidoscope eyes widened as every nerve in his body told him one thing. Run. Who was it? Where did it come from? He didn't know, all he knew was he needed to get out of here. It wouldn't take Dove long to see the calico figure bolting from the cave. Adrenaline pushed him forward, but surprise made him stop. She was right, he found her easily. Silhouetted against the night sky, something in him felt his throat go dry. Was it fear that kept him still? He didn't know. He panted like there wasn't enough air in the world for him, heart unable to stop pounding. "W-Who are you?" Romulus asked, not expecting an answer but also not knowing what else to say.
Dovegarden leapt down from her place in the air onto the ground, sauntering over to the young tom. Her pure white fur was stark against the dark of the area. "Did I frighten you?" she purred, holding off on answering his question for the moment. She wanted him to know she would be taking the lead here, not him. The SummerClanner neared him and began to circle, keeping the smallest bit of distance in case he decided to lash out at her with his claws. She eyed him all over, interested in his fur color. Up close it was so unique. Just his existence was unique. Dovegarden felt very lucky to get to try out her skills on this cat but acknowledged to herself it wouldn't be easily to replicate unless she found another like him. "My apologies child. You can call me Dovegarden." She wasn't sorry if she had spooked him but she would definitely be sorry if he ran away before she could get a claw in him.

It was so clear, from the second she started following him, that Dovegarden held all the control. Not that Romulus Fauna was good at taking it back. That was mostly his brother's job, while he preferred to sit in the back and support them. He began to see why sheep huddle together, cause even one wolf circling him was scary enough. Dovegarden, Dovegarden, he wrote the name down in his mind. If he was going to get out of this, he needed to do something, anything. He barely had any training to even think about trying to strike her, and was too worn down to run. The most the little calico could do was follow her movements with his own, keeping her in his sight at all times. "Hi." Wait, he should not being saying hi right now. Why was the feeling of his paws shaking underneath him so enthralling though? "What are you doing here?"
The little "hi" made her smile. How endearing. "You remind me of my apprentice," said Dovegarden, nearing him for a moment so she could run a tail across his flank before once again distancing. "So small. But she hides so much behind her eyes." The white she-cat stopped moving once she had come full circle again and shared a gaze with him. This time, she decided not to answer. Instead, she very slowly stretched her paw out to caress the calico's cheek. Her claws came out from her paw but she didn't allow them to pierce his skin. Then she pulled it back. "I wonder what hides behind yours."

Romulus made a show of himself, jumping from every brush. It was like stepping into a hot tub. At first, the water is too hot and he'd jerk away in a violent way. But the second time, he was getting used to it. When she caressed his face, he pulled away for just a moment before putting himself back in her grasp. Like he was more worried about the repercussions of pulling away than what he was about to face. "Nothing much." Was his answer, even if his whole body screamed he was everything extraordinary. He was just your average kit, nothing all that special.
Her face lit up at his reactions. How could she have gotten so lucky? Dovegarden moved her paw away from his cheek only after he'd leaned into it for a good moment and rested it on top of his paw on the ground instead. Her claws were still slightly out and she allowed them to sink slowly into his paw. Not enough to draw serious blood yet but enough to prick and hold should she press harder. "If nothing much is your final answer, then I shall have to reach in and drag something forward." Her words were intense and she released him suddenly, turning her back on him and stalking a few steps away. She needed to know some things before she continued. In a tight voice she demanded of him, "Give me your name." Dovegarden's shoulders were tense with her back turned but she tried not to let it show.

"F-Fawnpaw." Romulus stuttered, shaking his paw once Dovegarden let him go. He was definitely in trouble, this she-cat screamed it. But he was rooted, curious about just what he was getting into. Curious about just what she was gonna find. He looked good, but was so painfully average in personality, he was curious about what she would find.
Fawnpaw hadn't attacked her from behind. He'd given her his name freely. She considered what she was about to do. There would be no going back from this, but her blood felt so hot under her skin and her breathing was quickening. Yes, she wanted to do this no matter the consequence. Decision made, Dovegarden turned back around and approached the tom. Her thoughts went to the mouse and how long it had been able to survive. It was time to test it on a cat. "Thank you, Fawnpaw. I believe some basic endurance training might be beneficial to you. Stand still please." She wanted to shoot toward him and swipe, but there was no way that wouldn't spook him. She needed to take this slowly.
With that final command, Dovegarden approached the apprentice once again and began to wind around him, letting her white tail drag along his side as she circled. When she reached his tail, she bent forward and grabbed it with her teeth, sinking them in and not releasing. She waited for his reaction, hope warring with the knowledge that there was no way a cat would just stand there and take this.

What was he supposed to do? Running would end up in him getting caught. Fighting was impossible. He didn't pay much attention to Jayjack's lessons. Not that he was much chance against a warrior even if he had. His mind kept running over the same thing, but as panic took him over, he held still. Did what he was told. Cause he couldn't think straight. It felt like he was already in trouble, already getting the punishment he craved. So he didn't fight as much.
Though when her teeth sank into his tail, he gasped automatically. Trying to pull away was an instinct, to get away from that pain. It took so little to get tears to form in the corner of his eyes. But she didn't let go, and after the second pull, he stopped moving it. It was only hurting him more to pull away.
And he was still staying? Dovepaw's lit up with excitement that she hadn't felt in moons. One more push. He would have to bolt this time. Her heart beat quickly and she couldn't control the urge that bubbled up inside her. The garden keeper was still behind Fawnpaw and she put her paws on his back, balancing on her hind legs so she wasn't putting too much weight on him.
"Remember," whispered Dovegarden. "Still."
She released her claws and raked them suddenly down his back and each flank in one smooth swipe, holding her breath to see if she'd used enough pressure to release any blood.

Romulus wasn't the best at listening to commands. He tended to crave the punishment of misbehaving, the attention. Now each thud of his heart shook his small frame. He could listen and still feel the burning and throbbing pain he, wanted? No, wasn't a strong enough word. Craved.
When her paws rested on his back, he stayed still. Holding back that desire to push into them. And then her claws came out. He wasn't trained enough to stay completely still, trying to pull away from one set of claws. Even if it just pushed him into another. Romulus choked on his own breath, his fur long enough to stay any blood that started to leak from his skin. But his paws were rooted to the ground.
Giddiness welled up inside of her. Fantastic. Dovegarden felt high now. She bounded to face Fawnpaw head-on, staring into his eyes. Her claws were itching to damage, but she needed to reign it in a little longer. Just the smallest bit longer.
"I'm a Garden Keeper in my clan, Fawnpaw. Do you know what that means?"

Fawnpaw wasn't even holding a breath, but he let out a sigh of relief when Dovegarden's claws left him. He lifted his paws and shook them, getting the nerves out as she spun to the front of him. Her hot breath was on his face, and he recoiled just a little. Shoot, his brothers went to Summerclan, they would know. But he hadn't seen them since they left. "Um... you, take care of the gardens?"
"That's right," she nodded encouragingly. "It means I know a bit about herbs. I can take care of you."
Dovegarden moved again, rubbing herself across his side as she passed by. Coming back up the other side, she let her paw rest against his flank and scratched her claws back up to his neck.
"If you trust me, you can help me learn more. If you're bleeding, we can see what works best." Or what hurts, she thought to herself.

B-But. Would he even need treatment if he didn't run into her? His tail hurt, and he had some surface-level wounds but nothing life-threatening. Romulus could just go back to camp, back to Amberbird. Say he got stuck in some thorns or some other lie. The words got caught in his throat as Dovegarden rubbed against him. His eyes glued to the nearby stump, trying to focus on anything other than her claws on him. How they tickled each nerve, lit it on fire, relieved a tension he didn't even know he had. It made no logical sense, but his breath came out hot in the night air. "Why should I trust you?" His last line of logic asked.
Her claws remained on his neck, lightly beginning to sink in as she grew impatient with the tom's questioning. "Because I said so," she suddenly snapped, frustrated. Her yellow eyes flashed angrily and she had to forcefully yank her paw away from him before she did the kind of damage that was irreparable. It hung in the air in front of her, claws still out. She tried to stop shaking, counting her breaths.
But she kept her eyes locked onto Fawnpaw, and as she tried to speak again, her voice came out equally as agitated and grew louder with each word. "Why can't you just say yes, you little rodent? Give in already!" Out shot her white paw, and this time she intended the claws to land and sink into Fawnpaw's face.
