Spider threads caught at her face, a sign that no-one had down this tunnel in quite some time. Miracle couldn't claim to be too surprised. Senescence was one of the few cats to head from the League to the Regime on a regular basis, and considering the ex-Chaman had chosen to take a longer route, it was understandable that they weren't as maintained anymore. Especially around the clans that didn't use the tunnels. Soon enough, however, the Regime scent grew stronger, and here she was, back home. Well, for a little while, anyway. She'd have to go back to Primal Instinct some time, it wasn't the day to return to the tunnels quite yet. But soon, hopefully soon. Miracle never had intended her leave to be permanent, after all.
Blue used to roam foreign territories back when she was an Ambassador. Rarely did she fight a rogue or loner, though, she was the cat who found them and reported back. Her small size and dark fur made her ideal for sneaking around and so that was what she did. However, ever since becoming Shaman, she had stayed in the heart of League territory. Her kits being born at the same time certainly was a ball and chain as well.
Her paws tinged in excitement but also fear to be back to her old ways, although this was still uncharted territory for her. She had done some Foreign Affairs tasks in her lifetime but never with the secretive Renegade Regime. Blue would not have agreed to come had any other cat invited her, but she didn't want to stand up Miracle, that only cat that had ever truly been there for her. And the connection the two of them shared had only been growing stronger... even though Blue still knew very little about her. She wouldn't miss this opportunity to learn more.

"I have family here in the Regime. Commander Shule would be my step-grandmother, and Sean my grandfather on my mother's side." Miracle explained. It was true, she hadn't exactly told Blue much about her past, though that was more for it not coming up than intentionally trying to hide it. "I used to be their Chaman. Same type of position as in the League, but Senescence tells me there's some difference in the name the two share that I don't actually understand that. I fled to the Regime from the League when I was a young trainee, and I only really returned to Primal Instinct somewhat recently, a bit before Funk became Nemesis."
"Wait... you're part of the Eerie family?" The biggest family in the forest, that family? Perhaps if Blue paid any attention she would have figured it out long ago. She wasn't a dumb cat by any means; however, she'd been going through a lot lately, and had been so wrapped up in her own problems that she had neglected learning anything new about the only friend she had. Her pawsteps slowed slightly. Already she was growing anxious. The two of them were kind of dating, but they hadn't quite made it official, how would Miracle introduce Blue? And what didn't like her? She really didn't have anything good to bring to the family. She wasn't very pretty or strong or even important now that she had stepped down as Shaman. The only thing she had ever accomplished was having a litter of kits with Funk and who hadn't done that? "I... I didn't know. I'm sorry. I should have."
Miracle actually dared to laugh. It was light and definitely not characteristic to the League. Then again, Blue didn't like her for being a typical League she-cat anyhow. It wasn't mocking either, and she smiled lightly at the she-cat's apology. "No need to apologize. I didn't tell you before, can't expect you to read minds." She flicked her brown tail at Blue's ear and stepped in closer to the feline, a warm, comforting presence to combat the other's nervous energy. "Don't worry, they'll like you just fine. Shule is a strict cat, so don't be off put if she seems cold, that's just how she is. Sean's a lot looser, and quite the character. He might sweep you up into his antics if you're not careful, but don't worry, he'll like you well enough." Certainly, Miracle didn't seem worried, if nothing else.
Blue pinned her ears. She knew Miracle wasn't making fun of her but it was hard not to think that she was. When she felt the brown she-cat's pelt brush against hers, though, it calmed her right down. Blue wasn't used to being physically close to other cats. She'd even done a poor job of it with her kits. But Miracle was different, she just couldn't get enough of it. It felt something like home although she wouldn't recognize the concept, "If you say so. I'll do my best not to worry too much. After all, you're with me. When you're with me I feel like I can do almost anything." She forced a smile. It wasn't very convincing, but she was making the effort.
"With or without me, you can do anything." Miracle assured, her smile gentle. "I know it's hard not to worry, but I won't let anything happen to you, I promise." The scent of the Regime grew stronger with every step, until, at some point, it was rather obvious they were in the midst of the group, scent trails of cats weaving in and out of the dark underground, stale and fresh, of cats who smelled similar to her, to those who were entirely foreign, the place permeated with earthiness and a more rigid presence than the League had. If they didn't meet up with anyone soon, Miracle expected they'd quickly arrive at HQ.
"You know that's not true..." Blue said quietly, her tone decisive, we are done talking about this.
For Blue's credit, she looked relatively calm, even as the scent of the Regime began to flood her senses. Her time in the League had hardened her and, although her heart was racing, only a cat close to her would know. Her face betrayed nothing. If anything, she looked fierce, with narrowed blue eyes and an even narrower face. She wasn't beautiful or imposing, she was just there, a fading flower that never had the chance to bloom. A non-threat.
"Stop right there." A ruddy auburn tom with striking white markings appeared almost out of thin air. He was tall and imposing, it was hard to imagine cats this big lived in these narrow tunnels but, then again, they were starting to open up and widen the deeper Miracle lead her. She gulped and looked to the brown-furred she-cat. Blue hoped she had been right about not letting anything happen to her.
Sentinel Havilah lashed his tail against the stoney wall, his muzzle fixed in a grimace, "You must be a former member of the Regime. Otherwise you would not have gotten so far without being detected," He was addressing Miracle, who he zeroed in right away as the leader of the two she-cats. He hadn't so much as leveled his steely green gaze at Blue, "State your name."
Blue might not believe in herself, but Miracle did, though she did choose to not continue that line of thought. Not that she had much time to as a new cat appeared. The brown feline laid eyes on him, her expression still gentle, but firm. Havilah was familiar to her. Well, familiar in the way that she recognized those white markings as bearing resemblance to Kyros, and knowing that the tom had been killed after she'd left, leaving behind a litter that her cousin Emiko had raised for a while, until she went on a murder spree and fled to the League, of course.
Miracle wasn't exceptionally large, she hadn't inherited the height of her family, but her honey gold eyes sparkled all the same as she observed him. Instantly, she noted the Sentinel markings on his chest. It was a practice that hadn't been enforced in some time, though she doubted Shule would stop any cat who wished to mark themselves. "Greetings, Sentinel." She addressed him, respectful, but not fearful of the younger cat. "My name is Miracle, I am an ex-Chaman of the Regime, and Sean's grandchild." Though from his appearance she suspected he was an Eerie himself, the exotic gilded eyes a rarity in and of themselves. "Who might you be? Certainly, you're of some importance if Shule gave you that rank." She nodded once to his scars.
"I am Havilah, son of Kyros and and Idylla, also Sean's grandchild," Clearly, Miracle had not forgotten the importance of hierarchy in the Regime, as she answered his questions honestly and with respect. It caught Havilah a little off guard but made conversation easy... but she was still an intruder, "It is nice to meet you, cousin, but as former Chaman you should know that just walking in like this is not acceptable. You are a member of the League now, no? We don't even let our Cadets into HQ, much less outsiders. I will escort you back to the surface and should you want audience with Commander Shule, I am sure that can be arranged," He now turned his forest green eyes to Mircale's companion. To say his gaze was intense was an understatement, "And who is he?"
Blue who flicked her ears back. It wasn't the first time she'd been mistaken for a tom. She had always had a boyish figure and somewhat masculine face. No, what surprised her more was the fire she felt in the pit of her stomach. Normally stuff like this didn't bother her, but normally she was by herself, not with the she-cat she loved. It was embarrassing, "Her name is Blue."
As expected. So, this was her cousin. "I also know that there are generally exceptions made for family. Tell me, has anyone been able to stop Senescence from walking in here as she pleases?" Miracle smiled, though there was a frosty twinge to it that suggested Havilah had made a mistake in his assumption, and that she wouldn't tolerate disrespect towards Blue. As for her quesiton, it was rather rhetorical. Sen did as she pleased, and no one, not even Havilah, could stop her, she was rather certain of it. "We're going to speak with Shule. You can either escort us, or we'll find our own way."
She wasn't going to take no for an answer, and though her smile was friendly enough, that much was certain. Miracle offered respect, but she could feel Blue's discomfort, and to be honest, this was the first time any member of her family had suggested she wait for an audience. "Take your pick."
"I never make exceptions, cousin." Havilah returned Miracle's frigidity and with added fire. While not so apparent at first, it was hard to miss the similarity in their mannerisms and the way their eyes sparkled, they really were of the same blood, "Should Senescence try to enter these tunnels, I would offer her the very same courtesy. But it's odd that you mention her name. Makes me wonder why she is on your mind..." The implications were clear; he suspected Miracle was a League spy, "... So, we can do this one of two ways. I hope you pick the easy one."
"Miracle..." Blue said, her fire from earlier fading away, although she was still on guard. She'd never talk to another cat the way Miracle did her cousin, but, then again, at one point in time these were her tunnels, her home. He was her family. Interactions that took place in this sort of realm were foreign to an orphan like her. She shuffled her paws but fluffed out her fur slightly, making herself look bigger by instinct. She wanted to turn around and do as Havilah said, but Miracle had put her line in the sand, and she would just have to trust her.
Miracle laughed at the notion he could stop Senescence. Full on, doubled over in fits of giggles. "Oh, you really haven't met her already? Just goes to show how little you pay attention. She comes to visit all the time. She even let Sean and Shule run a shop in the League, and if there's anyone she's close with, it's Sean. I'd love to see you try and make her leave. Trust me, even Shule would cuff you over the ear for that one." She took a breath, but still couldn't quite manage to contain her amusement, all hostility gone and replaced by a grin of pure mirth at the Sentinel's expense.
"Now, you may be a Sentinel, but you're not stopping me. I may have been in the League for a while, but I didn't give the extra life I had as Chaman to save a Regime patrol from SunClan seasons ago just to have my young arrogant cousin telling me what to do. I wouldn't stop you if you decided to go see Emiko in the League, stop trying to seem tough, it's not working." She threw in his adoptive mother's name intentionally. She didn't know if he hated Emiko, considering what she'd done to the Regime, but she knew the she-cat had helped to raise him, and that it would elicit a reaction. Which, usually, she wouldn't stoop so low as to do, but this wasn't a usual circumstance.
That did it. Havilah had been pretty calm and collected up until now, but Miracle's demeaning words and laughter enraged him, he couldn't hide his anger even if he tried. Hackles raised, claws unsheathed, he took a step toward the two she-cats looking every bit as feral as an Eerie could, "What Commander Shule does with Senescence is not my concern. If they have a special arrangement then so be it. I don't care what you've done for the Regime in the past, you've been gone for more moons than I've been alive. How do you expect me to trust a cat whose had a lifetime to shift her loyalties? I won't stand for it." He paused and leaned forward, his face at eye level with Miracle's, "And don't you dare bring up Emiko." Bingo, Miracle had found a sore spot, but he knew it and didn't stay on the topic long, "Now, I'll be escorting you and your weird kit back to the surface."
"W..weird kit...?" Blue's voice wavered as the insult struck her. As before, something like this had never really phased her, she'd been called every name in the book at one point or another, but having Miracle right there made her far more vulnerable than she normally was. The fire from before returned but this time she fed into it. Without quite realizing what she was doing, she slowly lifted her paw and put it against Havilah's muzzle, pushing it away but only slightly, "Back off..."
Havilah hadn't expected the black she-cat to fire back. She had more sass than he thought, but her attempt to thwart him was lack-luster, pathetic really. With a low growl he swatted her paw away with unsheathed claws. Blue didn't make a sound as she pulled back but a ruby red trail followed her.
Havilah didn't even have the chance to move before claws struck him. Miracle's paw whipped up, clawing straight across his Sentinel scars, with full force. In the next moment, her body swung the other way as her claws slapped against his cheek in such a way that echoed through the tunnel. "You do not touch my girl, and you do not refer to her as a kit again, do you understand?" She may have been shorter, but Miracle stepped up to crowd his space without a heartbeat's hesitation, honeyed eyes crystallized and dangerously sharp. "You don't deserve the title handed to you, and I pity the Regime for having to deal with you."
His sly soothing voice cut through the air like a knife, the background sounds dying down as Duskslayer approached them. He had heard Miracle's laughter bouncing across the tunnel walls from a distance, but the scent of blood drew his attention like a shark in water. His turquoise eyes swept across everyone once as he stood beside the sentinel, his attention turning to Miracle and Blue.
"You're the ex chaman," He said getting a better look at her up close, but didn't dwell on it for long, "You have no right to hit a sentinel when you've entered these tunnels unannounced. Even laughed in his face." He turned to Havilah, "And you're giving our ex chaman an oddly hard time when you barely gave Mirza more than a growl. Both of you are noble figures of the Regime, show each other some respect."
He had little right to manage this situation, Havilah ranked above him and Miracle didn't have to follow his command. But like his mother he had the instinct to shut down tense situations before they became out of control. He looked at Havilah's cheek with caution, he would have to lick it clean soon. The dirt around them offered plenty of bacteria to infect it, not to mention even if Havilah didn't like him much he was still technically his nephew.
"Why you...!" Havilah's hackles raised along with his right paw as he aimed to return the blow to Miracle, the scracthes stung but it was nothing compared to the wounds she inflicted to his pride. It was hard to see the marks from his perspective but her knew where she was aiming. His sentinel scars. One of his hardest won treasures...
"Havilah."
It was always Duskslayer, wasn't it? His uncle tended to turn up right in the most inopportune moments, and of course he knew Miracle personally, it seemed he knew everyone. Still, his presence had a visible effect on Havilah. He drew back his paw but never removed his eyes from Miracle's, a direct challenge to her authority which, despite what Dusky said, was less than none.
"Fine. You can deal with them, Dusky. Go ahead and lead them straight to the main camp." With that, the red-furred tom withdrew from the situation entirely, no doubt going ahead of the group to report to the Commander.
Blue had remained silent all the while and worked at her wounds, minimizing them as best she could, the last thing she wanted to be was babied by Miracle. The scratches truly were not very deep but Havilah had managed to knick a vein so it was a lot bloodier than it should have been. Satisfied with the status of her wounds, she finally lifted her head to see Havilah come and replaced with a cat she actually recognized, having seen him around the League more than a few times, although they had never spoken.
"T-thank you. Duskyslayer, right?" She chirped, trying to break the silence and blushing immediately, she felt eyes on her again and that hadn't really been her intention. She leaned into Miracle's side without even realizing it.
Duskslayer dipped his head to her, "Yes, you can call me Dusky though," He said, sitting down, "We should wait for Commander Shule, but welcome and welcome back," he smiled faintly, slightly unnerved that Blue was wounded.

Miracle kept her gaze leveled coolly at Havilah until he left, before turning it on Duskslayer. "If he doesn't want to get clawed, he shouldn't strike first." The ex-Chaman stated softly, turning slightly to check on Blue's injury with a tender paw. She would have probably fretted more, but the she-cat seemed to have a handle of it, and seeing that the other wasn't worried, she chose to leave it. "We were hoping to see Shule in the first place, until Havilah insisted we leave." She sighed, glancing at the blood on her claws. Her grandmother would probably forgive her. "I can tell he's Kyros son." The comment wasn't necessarily a compliment.
Commander Shule, for her part, was in her den, looking over some new trap designs when Havilah arrived, her head rising to look at him as the scent of blood hit her nose, eyes frigid. "What happened?" The asked instantly, not even registering Miracle's scent as her mind focused on Havilah's injury.
"Another one of my cousins is paying us a visit. Miracle," Now that he had achieved his self-imposed mission, Havilah was able to address his wounds. As expected, the three scratches on his chest that marked him as a Sentinel had another three scratches going to other direction, a flesh-born tic tac toe. Clearly she had aimed for that spot in particular to wound his pride. It worked. He was seething, "Former Regime members keep taking us for granted. When are you going to do something about it?"
He'd never called Shule out directly for something like this before, but the pain and shame was giving him a fool's courage.
Blue had fallen silent, letting Miracle and Dusky catch up while she cleaned her scratches. They were no longer bleeding and she doubted they'd scar, but she would need to put some antibiotics on them to make sure they did not become infected.
