Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Pikeshadow trotted lightly along the riverbank, his tail swishing as he kept one eye on the waters. He wasn't interested in hunting quite yet, still heading to a prime location, but he was encouraged to see the dark shapes slipping between the waves beside him. There were fish here, waiting to be caught; he just had to find a good spot for it. As he was walking his gaze caught on a bright glimmer and he slowed down, stopping to stare curiously between the rocks. Something had been carried downriver, then washed up here, into a dip between two rocks and was half-buried. He reached down with a paw and started to pull it up, grunting.
Tempestignite still wasn't all that comfortable, surrounded by water. Nor was she a fan of learning how to fish, but she figured it was something she needed to know or else she wouldn't be a very good warrior of WaterClan. She missed living in SunClan, where she felt better about everything. Even if she had to leave because of her own shame. She decided on wondering the territory, finding it better than loitering around camp.
When she came across Pikeshadow fishing, she slid up next to him and watched how he fished. She wasn't going to ask to be taught something she should've already learned. Instead, she was going to watch and hopefully learn that way.
His ears twitched back at the sound of the she-cat's approach but he said nothing, focusing on wiggling out whatever was stuck between the rocks. It felt strange and squishy, and he started to realize this wasn't a fish at all. Finally he hooked it and pulled it up onto the bank - then jumped back, surprised and confused.
It was a twoleg object, made to resemble a fox, soft, squishy, and water-logged. A toy for one of the twoleg kits, probably.
"Uhm..." he muttered, suddenly aware that his failure to hunt was being observed. "Hi. This isn't what I meant to find."
He glanced up at her with an understanding glimmer in his eyes. "Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it," Pikeshadow told her. "It just takes a lot of patience. You're older than I was when I started, so you'll probably pick it up faster as well."
"Being older just means I'll probably never learn how to fish." She felt slightly annoyed at that fact as she sighed. "I don't have the patience for fishing. Hunting on land is much easier."
Pikeshadow laughed. "I thought that too, but now that I know how to fish... well, there's always prey waiting to be caught, if you just know how to look." Sweeping his tail in invitation, he padded closer to the water and peered into the waves. "Keep an eye on your shadow. You don't need to keep it off the water, just make sure you aren't moving too much or it will be suspicious. On a hot day, though, some fish might come hide in the shade."
