Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
It had been two nights without sleep for the former medicine cat, although he's gone much longer without. In fact, Hystericstar had been planning to stay up all night again with his experiments, and that's exactly where he would have been in this very moment if he hadn't run out of herbs. Being as impatient as he was, he had decided to go and gather more himself instead of waking the medicine cats. And so he had, and he had been on his way back to camp when the idea struck him to take the long way, and so here he was, sitting in Firefly Meadow. The moon seemed to be directly overhead, and the fireflies acted as extra stars as they danced around him. If he had been a romantic, perhaps he would have found a different meaning to this place. Instead, the sight soothed him, his lack of sleep catching up with him as his eerie golden eyes followed a firefly's swaying rhythm. Rocking; rocking him to sleep in a silent lullaby. And he probably would have fallen asleep, if his body had even an ounce of care. Instead, he was sent into a fit of coughs, the hollow sound filling the otherwise silent air. Somehow, the fireflies didn't seem to be affected, as they continued their dance.

It was as though a dream had her by the paw, leading her out of camp and into the moonlit territory. Palestep knew better than to leave camp without a warrior to protect her, but there she was in the middle of the Firefly Meadow. Her milky eyes tried to make out her surroundings, instead growing more and more disoriented by the flashing of the fireflies in the darkness. She wasn't sure exactly what had inspired her to do something so dangerous as to go for a midnight stroll alone. Fear began to speed up her breathing, but it was in this hyperventilation that she caught Hystericstar's scent.
The smell calmed her somewhat, but his hacking cough brought the fear back full force. She knew the tom was ill, but for him to be in the territory this late at night, sounding that bad... Her mind could only conjure the worst-case scenarios. "Hystericstar?" she called, wishing, not for the first time, she had her sight. If only she could just run over to the tom and help him instead of needing his help. "Are you alright?"
Her original fear of the tom had lessened over the time they spent together, as meager as that was. She really only saw the tom join the clan during gatherings or feasts, but his scary visage tended to keep others away and his voice always comforted her when she found herself in large, unfamiliar crowds. She only hoped he was well enough to be able to comfort her like that now, seeing as she'd somehow found her way into the middle of the Firefly Meadow with no way of finding her way home without walking into at least 100 trees.
It was perhaps only pure luck that Hystericstar was able to hear the voice of Palestep through his coughs, but it was willpower that had him forcing them back. His throat tickled with annoying intensity, and his eyes were watering, but luckily she wouldn't be able to notice that part. Oh, he could really go for some water. He swallowed a few times, trying to soothe his throat even slightly, before calling out in a hoarse voice, "Fine. Just fine." What was she even doing out here? No, more importantly, how did she even get here? He took a few more moments, gathering back what little strength he had, and once he was sure the attack was over he spoke up again. "What about you?" His golden gaze swept through the long grass, searching for the familiar form. "Did something happen back at camp?"

"No, no, nothing's happened," replied Palestep quickly, the worry in her voice unmistakable. She'd heard and knew her leader was fighting an illness he couldn't seem to find a cure for, but to hear it in the dead of night it was clear what an affect it had on his life. He sounded miserable. "I...I'm not actually sure how I got here," she admitted sheepishly, feeling her face heat up in embarrassment. "I think I may have been sleepwalking and my paws know the territory better than my eyes, but I'm afraid I don't think I'll be able to get back by myself." She paused a moment, drawing up the courage to ask him for help when he so clearly wanted time alone out of camp. "If it's no trouble...would you mind helping me back to camp? I feel like a helpless kit, and I'm sorry to bother you during what I'm sure is one of your few moments to yourself."
