Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The sun was beginning to set when the tiny calico maine coon came out from the elders den, finishing her duty of putting in new bedding. Her paws were itching to get out of camp and practice her hunting skills. Fallenpaw had spent the last few days stuck in camp running duties for the elders and queens due to her talking back. It seems as if these days her attitude keeps getting worse and she was just oblivious to the fact she was being rude. Waiting for the sun to finally set and darkness fill the camp, Fallenpaw crept her way out from the apprentices den. She knew she had to secretly escape and sharpen her skills, or else she will never become a warrior. Quickly looking around the clearing to make sure no one was watching her, she dashed towards the forest believing no one had spotted her. Boy, was she wrong.
"Yeah that sounds about right," the Poisonrush answered over his shoulder as he left the Warrior's Den. Out of the corner of his eye, a dark blur caught the Aurulent's attention. Snapping his head around toward the site, he recognized who it was instantly. Fallenpaw, the troublemaker. She knew she was confined to the camp and running errands and doing tasks for the older cats of the clan. Clearly, she thought no one would be around to take a chance to get away from it. He could feel his brow twitch with annoyance. Shaking his head, he followed her.
"Fallenpaw! Where do you think you're going?" he demanded out in a loud booming voice.
Hearing her name made her flinch. Ears flattened, she turned to look over her shoulder at the Aurulent. "Poisonrish..." She huffed under her breath. Squinting her eyes, she tried her very best to put on a small fake smile."Obviously , I am going no where." She muttered clearly being sarcastic. She did her best to hold in every ounce of annoyance. It was just her luck to get caught moments before her 'grand' escape. Even though she admired the tom, the fact that she got caught by him made her frustration more intense. It's not like he would understand the feeling of being treated like a new born kit.
"You know you're not supposed to leave camp, so why try even try it?" he questioned as he caught up to her. "You must like doing monotonous chores, huh." He shook his head again, disappointed, and motioned for her to go back into the camp clearing. He could understand her desire to leave, but failed to see why she continued to believe the way she did. Her actions directly affected her chances of freedom. If only she would respect her superiors, she would see her situation improve. In a way, he felt sorry for her, but at the same time, he couldn't. Fallenpaw was old enough to know better.
"Clearly I don't! I would have been successful if you weren't around." She snapped. Quickly realizing her mistake, she turned her gaze to her paws. "Sorry..I didn't mea-..No, you're right, I should have known better." Fallenpaw slowly came to a stop in the camp clearing, now looking at Posionrush. She knew very well she didn't have a good reputation in the clan due to not having a filter. She wanted to change, but didn't know how or where to start "Um just so.. You know.. I'm not bad.." She mumbled.
He sighed and sat down tiredly. It would probably be in her best interest that she had someone to talk to rather than just punish her further. "Look, Fallenpaw, I know you don't mean to be ill-mannered but it's got to stop." Poisonrush looked away for a moment, cursing himself. That was worded horribly, PR. He returned his gaze to her. "Here. How about we talk through it and see if we can get you on the right path so you can leave camp like you want so badly," he suggested. As much as it pained him to see her not be able to develop hunting and fighting skills on her own, she had to pay for her disrespect of others.
Constantly being told she needed to improve without any proper guidance never helped her in the long run. Hearing how she was a troublemaker over and over again only pushed her further into not believing herself. When Poisonrush offer to help her get started on the right path it sent a chill down her spine. Is he really going to help me? "I want to get out of camp as soon as possible before I fall behind. If you can guide me... I would.." She paused, trying to find the proper words. "greatly appreciate it."
The tom offered her a kind smile. "Of course I'll help. Someone's got to." he responded. "Now where to start..." he started as he thought how to approach the situation. "Ah, okay. Do you happen to have a mentor by chance Fallenpaw?" he asked her. That may be her problem; there wasn't anyone to take the time out of their day to actually sit down and talk it out with her. Its an quick and easy fix to just punish her though. Since he didn't have much going on at the current moment, he could request to take her on as his apprentice, which would make it so she's not behind the learning curve with her peers.
A smile finally had appeared on her face as she locked her eyes with his. Wow. who knew he was so kind "Hmm.. No I have yet to be assigned a mentor." She meowed. "Why, do you have something in mind?" She asked, tilting her head to the side.
He shrugged. "I don't see why it wouldn't happen, but I could make you my apprentice. At least then, you'll be my responsibility and no one else will bother you and we can actually get some training in. And, as an added bonus, you'll be learning from one of the best warriors FallClan has to offer," he added with a wink. "So, what do you say?"
(Sorry for the super late reply ;n; I was MIA for a little bit, but finally back~)
Fallenpaw's eyes lit up with excitement. "You mean it? For sure for sure?" She couldn't believe it, she was able to train under the Aurulent, one of the best warriors in FallClan. 'I'll be able to catch up in no time' "You said it, so you cannot take it back... No matter what, you got it?" She knew herself well enough to know that she was going to be a lot of work and hopefully wont scare him off in the middle of training.
"Of course," he said with a chuckle. "Now, if you'll excuse me. I need to go speak with Hystericstar about our arrangement. I will be back in a moment. Don't go off and get into anymore trouble, Fallenpaw." Poisonrush nodded curtly before heading off toward the leader's den where he suspected he would be residing.
It was wonderful having a den to himself again. Finally, Hystericstar had a place where he could safely conduct his experiments, and he didn't even have to worry about an annoying apprentice that didn't know anything cowering in the corner. Of course, he wasn't too fond of the position he was in, but at least he had his privacy once again. Sort of. As he mixed a new concoction, made of the herbs that he himself had gathered and secreted away, the sound of pawsteps outside his den made him pause. That was another downside to being leader. With a sigh that quickly turned into a cough, he tucked his mixture into its hiding place and turned to face the entrance of his den, his gut telling him that someone was about to interrupt him.
Standing just outside of the leader's den entrance, Poisonrush took a deep breath. "Hystericstar, I'm coming in," he announced as he stepped through the threshold. The smell of something odd hit his nose and made it twitch slightly. But, remembering who it was he was talking to, it made sense that the strange odor would be there. "Since you're busy with...something," tilting his head toward the spot the smell was coming, "I'll keep this short. I am taking the problem child, Fallenpaw, on as my apprentice. I thought I should let you know in case of future matters."
There was really no point in hiding his concoction, it seemed, since Hystericstar was sure that Poisonrush knew of his experiments. Still, he gave no acknowledgement of the smell, instead giving a nod and small shrug. "By all means, go right ahead." The less problems in his paws, the better, after all. "It's better for you to take her on than giving her to Jayjack." Albeit the other Aurulent already had an apprentice, so that wasn't likely to happen, but he just really didn't want to listen to more apprentices complain about his training methods or attitude. He didn't even want to deal with it.
"Much appreciated," he said as he turned to leave but paused mid-step. "Oh, before I leave, I have a bit of advice. You can take it or don't, your choice, but please, try to lighten up. Even just a little. You're the leader now and I understand it's a change of pace, but you've got to adapt to it. It's not a good look for you in your current position, is all I am saying," he said finally before he left.
Outside of the den, he called out to his newly accepted apprentice. "Fallenpaw, it's been done. You are officially my apprentice from here on out."
