Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
A feline padded up to the gathering of cats in front of her. Her whiskers twitched in curiosity. She still wasn't sure why she got the task of babysitting until Kerrigan showed up, but Cynder guessed that she should at least be flattered that the Tsar would be interested in what she would have to say about those who had gotten the Tsar's invite. Kerrigan had expressed to Cynder that she would be there soon enough, but that she didn't have time to wait for the cats who would inevitably be late. Cynder would play cat herder and entertainer until they completed the task at hand to summon the Tsar.
This was the second time that she had held this game, but this time, the situation was a little different. The last time she had gathered the boyar candidates, she had been the only viony. This was still true, in a half-way. Kind of. She was the acting Boyar during the transition. Kerrigan would have made her permanent boyar if she wanted such a thing, but the ash-grey she-cat had no desire to flaunt with the royals. If she did, she would have accepted the Tsar's gift of a promotion to Cyd the day Kerrigan took the lead of this clan. To put it simply, she didn't want such a role. The only reason she was acting in the position was because they were in a time of war, and Kerrigan had asked her to help during the transition. She had given her big puppy eyes, and the viony had consented under one circumstance: the look for a replacement was immediate. This was as immediate as it got, Cynder supposed.
As a consolation for her service, Kerrigan had allowed her to play the same game with this group as she had the last. She didn't know who the Tsar had formally invited to play her game. Unlike last time, she had been kept in the dark, until the very moment the first cat arrived in the hollow in which Kerrigan had told them to meet the moment the sun slipped across the horizon.

Galadriel spent the morning alone, staring at her reflection in one of the pools of water close to camp and meditating. The large sandy she-cat had been waiting for this moment since her kitting and had never once doubted her path but it was hard to ignore the anxiety she felt. But every choice, word, or event in her life had lead her to this morning and to this invitation. Galadriel would not fail and she told her reflection as much. Once that was sorted and her nerves were steady there was nothing left to do but gather with the others. With one last look at her reflection she raised her chin and padded back to camp. The walk was familiar but somehow felt so very strange, a beginning or an end.
When she entered camp there was nothing different. Cats didn't nod to her in any new way or seem slightly afraid of her; but Galadriel knew it would be soon. The other invitees, whomever they were, meant nothing to her destiny. She would be the next Boyar. Confident, well-groomed, and aloof Galadriel sat at the meeting place and wrapped her tail around her paws. From there, only the beat of her heart and general commotion of camp marked how long she was motionlessly waiting.
"Good evening, Gadawhateverthehell your name is," Cynder meowed with a flick of her tail. It was obvious by that statement alone that the feline was not meant to be in a position of power. She didn't care about those around her, and often times delighted in making others suffer. Cynder was self-interested to a fault, with only one weakness: Kerrigan herself. She was at the beck and call of the Tsar, even when Cynder's nature meant she wanted to dig another tiger trap or lock another set of apprentices in a haunted house.
"Galadriel, maybe?" She offered, her head tilted to the side slightly. "That sounds right? Probably isn't, though." She looked completely unaffected by her potential error. It wasn't her problem if she got it wrong. And, plus, she had told Kerrigan she'd run the games, not be nice.
"Welcome to the games. Your ability to be on time? Greatly appreciated. Still, we have to wait for the other less punctual cats."
Whisp slid to a stop in front of the duo, sending up the fine layer of snow into the air. "So sorry I am late, there was another matter to which I had to attend." The white and brown tom took a deep breath to calm down. He really did hate being late as it made him feel like he messed up. His silvery eyes glanced over to Cynder, he wasn't sure if she had invited him for fun or if the fact that he was part of the ult, regardless he kept up his good manners. "Thank you miss for this invitation." He sat down and nervously kneaded the ground slightly, Whisp couldn't remember how Cynder felt about him addressing her that way. Actually, if he thought about it he didn't know Cynder at all, she just seemed like Kerrigan's shadow.
He was never late, well almost never late. Especially upon the request of his eldest sister. The early bird gets the worm. So, just like the shadowy cat that Everette was, he was there. Though he'd remained at a distance along the outskirts of the hollow. Assuming the stance that he'd always done. Waiting. He figured it would be in his best interest to wait and see who would be present at today's meeting. Gauge their strengths and abilities before making himself known. Everette was calculating like that. He'd watched as Galadriel sauntered as if the world turned solely for her and her alone. That had nearly caused the pale icy eyes to roll out of the toms eye sockets with how hard he had rolled them. But, still, he waited. Curious to see who else had gotten the metaphorical golden ticket to join in today's... activities. When the Magistratus had entered the hollow in a fray of fur and snow Everette had nearly burst into laughter at his mannerisms. It was quite amusing as he fumbled over his words. After a few beats passed he'd finally decided that he'd best show himself to the others. After all one could only make Cynder wait so long.
The black tom had leaped from the perch he'd made himself in the tree and landed in the snowy ground below sending a small puff of the glittering powder up into the air. Unphased by the snow cloud he'd padded towards the trio, "Now, now, Cynder you can't fault the poor soul for his tardiness. We should be thankful that he's shown up at all with how busy he is after all" the tone in which he'd chosen to speak making it hard to determine whether he was being sincere or sarcastic.
She blinked in the direction of Everette. Being that he was a sibling of Kerrigan, the two had existed in the same sphere for a long time. Even before the Tsar became the Tsar, Cynder had been basically a part of the family. The bond between the two had started when Cynder was only a kadet, and Kerrigan a new viony. That meant that she had many moons to bond with the Harlow family as much, or as little, as her heart desired. Thus, she was used to the tone he often had, one that walked the fine line between sarcastic and not. "I can fault you though, love." She offered him a wink. "Sitting in the trees is much different than sitting right in front of me," she added, to prevent a comment of 'well, I was watching from afar'.
She turned to Whisp. "Miss?" she almost snorted at the address. "Maybe don't call me that. I'm not Kerrigan- I don't need snooty powerful-person titles." She shrugged at the other words he said, before again looking at the sky. "Anyways, you were late enough to be noticed, but not late enough to piss me off. Hadley, on the other hand?" The other cat was nowhere to be seen. "Can't say the same for her. I've got things to do and games to explain, and I'm not the most patient cat in the woods."
She smirked at the idea, before flicking her tail. "I ain't waiting all night, so we might as well start now." She puffed out her chest, and her voice deepened with her next phrase. "Welcome to the second half of the boyar innitiation," she bellowed. "One of you will take home the prize after a series of challenges that will require you to work both as a team and as individuals." She paused, turning to Whisp. "You like my announcer voice? I tried my best. I invited you just for the heck of it. You probably won't walk away with a prize since you aren't related to Kerrigan, but hey, it'll amuse me to see you participate and it'll put you on the good side of the Tsar. I hear High Priest might be opening up soon," she meowed with a wink.
Everette chuckled lowly at Cynder's response to his faint tease, but remained silent as she changed her focus to Whisp, and then finally to the currently gathered group as a whole. Giving a small amused snort as the last of her patience vanished. He'd only slightly wondered what was keeping his other sister preoccupied, but he didn't bother to dwell on the thought too long his attention solely focusing on the words that came from Cynder's mouth. His curled hers twitching out of habit and he only rolled his eyes slightly before smirking as Cynder managed to somehow go off topic Everette was used to working alone when it came to his side projects, but he was not unfamiliar with working in a team dynamic either. His gaze shifted to Galadriel a soft snort leaving him. "I don't think she knows how to be a team player or what a team even is" he teased lightly in a lilted tone once again walking that fine line.
Whisp looked over at Everette, he had a tad bit of impertinence that just rubbed Whisp the wrong way. Though it was probably just a side effect of being royal but with no actual responsibility. He never liked many of the royals, they often seemed to full of themselves. It didn’t sit well with his rather religious ways, which was probably bothersome to others. Yet he tried his hardest to keep his opinions quiet and his mannerisms peaceful. Honestly he just tried to be an ideal figure for others to follow, to help guide those who where lost. Turning to Cynder, he looked at her. “I have no desire for promotion unless it will help those who truly need it.” He spoke not a single lie, he truly did want to help and if a promotion would help he would take it.
Still Whisp couldn’t help but grin at Everette’s last comment. Though in his opinion the whole family did not seem to understand teamwork, or at the very least cooperation. But that was all from what he saw publicly, perhaps they were less hardened privately. Either way he supposed it wasn’t his business. Now looking at the two punctual candidates, he had no strong opinions on either. Of course as a brother Everette could have a stronger claim. But perhaps Galadriel had the right structure to rule. Once again it mattered very little to him as he had no choice in the matter and it did not effect his life for the most part.
Cynder nodded once towards Whisp. "See, you and I are on the same page there. Well, kind of. Helping people? Not really my thing. But having titles for nothing? Also not my thing."
She turned away from her sidebar, before raising a brow. "Each task will start with a riddle to find the location of it. I'll meet you at the second stop. At the first stop, you'll be met by... Brenna? I think that's who I told to be there, but you know, it's been a hot minute since I made the rules." She chuckled to herself. "The first riddle is simple. Crack it to find your first location."
She paused for a moment, before blinking. "This part of the territory is known for a murmur, one that just can't be placed. If you listen to hard, they say your ability to think will be lost in space." Okay, so Cynder wasn't the best at this kind of stuff, but she was still interested to see if they could crack what was obviosu to her: their first location would be the Haunted Brook.
Everette caught Whisp's look but remained silent as Cynder spoke up, his pale gaze shifting to the she-cat. Once again he remained silent as he listened to her riddle. He gave an inward snort, this was very much like the grey she-cat. Comical, but also blunt. As she finished speaking he'd given a small nod of his head that he'd understood what she'd said. His gaze turning to the others in the group his brow quirking at them. While he was more than confident he could do it himself, he felt like this was also a test to see if the next Boyar was able to work in a team environment. He side eyed Cynder before his attention turned back to the others. "I don't know about anyone else, but I think teamwork's going to make the metaphorical dream work" his voice was slow but had a charming lilt to it.
