A frigid morning wind ruffled Honeycomb's fur as she waited near the camp entrance for Seapaw's arrival. The sky was overcast with a mix of both light and darker clouds. She wondered if they would see an early snowfall, it was sure cold enough. A sigh heaved from her chest. An early Leafbare could only mean extra hardships for EarthClan. The prey will hole up sooner and sickness could come quicker than usual. In an effort to shake off her gloomy thoughts, Honeycomb stood and shook her honey colored fur. EarthClan had ceremonies last night and there was a new group of eager apprentices. And that was definitely good for the clan. EarthClan was growing and will continue to be strong.
Seapaw rushed to meet her new metor. They'd agreed on when to met but the apprentice was running late due to seeing off Ivorpaw to her own new mentor. She was proud for her little sister, one of two aiblinsg she'd practically raised was now an apprentice too, and maybe Seapaw coudl finally start focusing on her own training again. She doubted it but it was worth a try. Hopfully she'd be made a warrir soon enough, before her father showed up with another litter he'd abrely help raise and leave them in her pawas again. "i'm sorry I'm late!" Seapaw had just reached the other she-cat, fur ruffled and looking like she'd taken a dive through a bush, completely unpresentable.

Honeycomb couldn't help but smile at the tardy apprentice. "That's alright, Seapaw," she meowed. "It's looks like you've had a battle with a bush ... and lost." She stood up and padded out of the camp. "Maybe some battle training is needed here. Up for learning how to fight back?" There was a cheerful note to her voice.
"Absolutely." Anything would help, she was so far behind at this point all she could successfully manage was hunting and that's because it was something she could practice on her own. Seapaw shook her fur, trying to rid herself of some of the leaves coating her fur, a slight blush on her cheeks from the embarrassment of her appearance. Anyone should be able to show up to training both on time and with a proper appearance, and yet she'd failed both aspects.

"Alright then, follow me," Honeycomb meowed as she left the camp for the training hollow. She smiled inwardly at Seapaw's discomfiture remembering how she once was herself when an apprentice. Once inside the hollow, Honeycomb moved to the center. "I'm going to show you a basic attack that all apprentices learn first. It's called the front paw strike." She sliced downward with her front paw at Seapaw's body, making sure her claws were sheathed to protect the apprentice. "Strike fast then move out of the way. Of course in a real battle your claws would be unsheathed."
Seapaw was excited for her sister and her first day of training, but the she-cat needed to focus now on her own training. She was sure to hear all about Ivorypaw's training later, if the younger apprentice wasn't to tired out. With most of the leaves removed from her fur upon entering the training hollow, the near warrior age apprentice took her stance. She'd learned this one before, but hadn't had much time for practice as of late for any of her apprnetice training, better now than never. With quick paws honed from chasing her younger siblinsg around teh nursery, she attacked her new mentor aiming for the face with her claws shealthed. No good to injury someone, especially her mentor in training.

"Very good," Honeycomb meowed after allowing Seapaw to strike her. She really didn't know what all Seapaw knew but she figured at her age she knew some basic things. "It seems you've had some practice with this attack so I'm guessing you already know the defense for this?" Then she demonstrated the move by turning to the left and swinging her right front paw across her body to the left. "Done correctly, the attacker will completely miss you and you'll score a scratch on their leg."
