The fall had been worse than he'd thought, he laid there in the snow with no chance of rescue. The rocks he'd hit had torn his fur and skin open and the snow was a deep red, steam from the warm red blood rose around him slightly. Rabbitfolly had tried to catch his fall and his claws stung and bled as well. This was it, he knew. After trying his entire life to make WinterClan proud, he was going to die in the snow by himself. No heroic battle. No final charge. Just poor, broken Rabbitfolly tucked away under a sheer cliff.
He had always been afraid of being alone and this... this was just cruel. A bird soared overhead and his eyes locked on to it, the panic in his brain was slowly giving over to a blissful fog and the wings of the bird did more to help him calm down. So he wasn't alone then. The tom tried to speak, just so he would have said some final words, even if it was just a bird to hear. But his jaw was broke and he couldn't seem to remember how to open his mouth. Rabbitfolly had been terrified, only a moment ago. But now? There was a bird and that blessed blissful fog.

Snowbunny's tail swished back and forth as he happily walked back towards camp with a bird in his mouth, but his jaw dropped open at the sight in front of him. In the air were a trail of aurora lights leading out to the cliff side of WinterClan. His ears fell back, but somehow he had the sense that no one, but him could see the lights. Kicking the snow over his bird he reluctantly left it and followed after the lights, he noticed that they were fading with time and were becoming harder to follow so he picked up his pace. The scent of blood and WinterClan was filling his senses following the same direction as the lights, it was a sensory overload to the point he hadn't noticed he was being guided through the fog until he emerged from it spotting Rabbitfolly. He glanced around him at the fog, but something wasn't right, he should feel the fog to some level, not quite like mist, but the temperature wasn't correct. Just like the aurora lights the fog wasn't there... Was Rabbitfolly there? Was this what a vision was like? Only this was real time so what was this?
"Rabbitfolly," Snowbunny called out to him as he ran to the toms side, but an instinct deep inside of him told him there was nothing he could do, "Rabbitfolly," He repeated, but this time there was understanding. He lied down next to the tom, "I'm here," He said comfortingly and remembered back to his lessons in the Regime, the last sense to go was auditory. Speaking was the best he could do.
Frostcloud was carrying prey back with Snowbunny when the white tom suddenly stopped. "What? Get moving!" She growled but it was as if he hasn't heard her. Without a response, he kicked snow over his prey and darted off in a random direction. "Where are you going!?" She called after him but of course, it seemed like he couldn't hear her. From what she saw before his back was turned toward her, his eyes looked like they were fixed on something that she couldn't see. With a frustrated grunt, she buried her prey and raced after him.
As she ran after Snowbunny she began to see a lump of fur laid at the bottom of a cliff. Suddenly, her heart dropped. Someone had fallen! But how did Snowbunny know this? When she neared, she recognized Rabbitfolly. She slowed her pace as she approached the bloody tom's side. She swallowed the lump rising in her throat. "Rabbitfolly" she whispered. By the look of his twisted body, she knew there was nothing anyone could do. "I'm here...it's me, Frostcloud" her voice was surprisingly soothing. If he were to die, at least he had to know that he wasn't going to die alone.

Earlybloom was sure something was wrong, she could feel it. Sometimes she would feel the wind tug her fur insistently or a lead tumble towards a certain place, and of course she followed. What she usually found was a cat with a broken leg or a litter of abandoned kits. But today her heart was heavy as she let herself be guided. Something was deeply, tragically wrong here. Her paws crunched in the snow as she walked, ears perked and eyes sharp.
Two sets of paw prints made her veer off and she followed them, the scent of blood told her she was right to be worried. But she hadn't prepared herself for the scene before her. Rabbitfolly was almost certainly dead, or very close, and Frostcloud and Snowbunny were close by. The Witch bounded hastily through the snow, looking down at the broken form of the warrior with sad eyes, "oh Rabbitfolly." She bowed her head, defeated. She couldn't even ease his journey, her berries sat safely in her den and the snow had frosted the others.
-
Rabbitfolly twitched, he had heard the arrival of each cat dimly and thought oh that's nice, but hadn't been able to respond. He could feel Snowbunny laying against him, feel his fur brushing against his, and felt grateful. He wasn't alone after all. The fog ebbed back a little, like a wave, and the tom felt pain sear all over his body. Where had the fog gone? But it washed over him again and he sighed a bit. He heard Frostcloud and felt a prick of sadness, they had just gotten to know one another. And then Earlybloom, her defeat telling him he was certainly going to die. But who cares? He didn't, the fog felt to good.
One more twitch and he succumbed completely, the breath going out of him with an almost peaceful air, so different from the terribly bloody scene he'd caused.
Snowbunny watched as the aurora light broke a part into glittery pieces, he expected it to fade or dissolve, but instead the light had gravity. The glittery specks fell to the floor as the fog moved in around him, but from living in the tunnels for so long it felt comforting, a feeling like home. He reached out to touch the light, grasping onto it. An intangible wind seemingly picked up whisking the light away in a thousand different directions. For a moment the fog seemed to shift back and he could tell it was from the light he still held between his paws. There was a sense deep inside of him to let go and he opened his paws releasing the last tiny specks of life into the air and turned to see Rabbitfolly take his last breath. He looked around himself expecting nothing, but dark fog, but instead there was still light all around him from the lights floating like stardust to the aurora aura inside of every cat near him. But the cats and the life around him didn't look the same. They were almost skeletal, like his sight had changed completely. He gently rubbed Rabbitfolly's back, but in this vision it didn't feel the same. Hesitantly Snowbunny rose, he should say something, he was the knight of the stars, but anything he wanted to say felt false and fake. He didn't know Rabbitfolly or really many of his clan mates, he had only been here for a week.
"Rabbitfolly you will be missed, thank-you for everything you have done for WinterClan, I hope you find peace," Snowbunny said as he closed his eyes and touched the warriors nose one last time. Still the strange vision around him remained, but looking at the cats around him they were probably the two clans in WinterClan who knew how to help him.
Frostcloud didn't look up from Rabbitfolly when Earlybloom approached. At his last breath, she could feel the shattering of her stone heart like a sledgehammer had come down hard onto it, sending pieces flying in all directions. The lump in her throat she had swallowed back earlier had remerged and continued to grow, making her throat burn and harder to breathe. She could feel her eyes beginning to water but she held it back the best she could. The last thing she wanted was for everyone to know how broken she was over this. Though they hadn't spent much time together, there was something about him that she liked. Now, it felt like a small piece of her went with him as he travelled up to the heavens.
Closing her eyes, she turned her head away. She couldn't bare to look at his bloody, twisted lifeless body anymore. "What a horrible accident" she whispered, her voice barely audible. It was probably the very first time Snowbunny had seen Frostcloud hurt. She never showed any emotions beside angry and frustration but now, there was a completely different expression on her face. Though she tried to hide it, she just wasn't doing a well enough job. It was a look of a broken heart and grief.

Earlybloom was accustomed to death, you weren't a Witch without seeing it regularly. But this one felt so incredibly random, so sudden and needless. He'd fallen and they didn't even know how or why. Why had he attempted to climb such a sheer cliff to begin with? Earlybloom felt emotions stir and she tried to keep herself in check. This was the time to fall apart. She stood with two of the knights, two of WinterClan's most trusted, and now they needed to bring their fallen clanmate home.
But first, she had something to say about him, "he was ambitious," she began, voice a bit strangled, "and loyal through and through. He was not born of WinterClan, but he died with honor and integrity some WinterClan cats can't even hope to achieve. He will be missed by us all." The Witch stood up and pressed a paw to him, making sure the heart had truly stopped, before turning to the knights. "We have to take him back, we can't abandon him. And then we need to make sure every single cat knows this area is too dangerous to be in."
Frostcloud didn't say anything. She couldn't. She didn't even know what to say. With a shaky, deep breath, she nodded to Earlybloom. "Snowbunny. Help Earlybloom lift him and put him on my back." She mewed emotionlessly as she crouched low for the two other cats to place Rabbitfolly on her back.

Earlybloom could tell Frostcloud wasn't alright, but it seemed stupid to ask her. They'd just watched a clanmate died and now they had to bring the body home. "After he's on your back," Earlybloom meowed, voice apologetic, "we need to clean the blood too. We don't want to attract anything." And the idea of the gruesome scene being preserved sickened her. It needed cleansed, even if the stain of it would never really leave her.
She looked at Rabbitfolly's body in dismay, it was so broken, and she knew it'd be awkward getting it back to camp. Not to mention the blood pooled everywhere. They'd smell like a wounded cat. Earlybloom was worried about something coming after them. "We have to be careful, predators can probably already smell all this blood."
Snowbunny looked between them, his sight still full of fog and his clan mates aura outlining them in eerie patterns, their bodies faceless. He wanted to ask Frostcloud how to turn the knight of the star sight off, but there was so much they had to somehow accomplish and he knew Frostcloud wasn't in the mood to teach him. The weight in his heart lightened, relieved when Frostcloud volunteered to carry Rabbitfolly, the fog made it impossible to tell where camp was, but following her would be much easier. That and unfortunately for being the grave digging cat he wasn't exactly tall like Frostcloud. Snowbunny cautiously lowered his muzzle over Rabbitfolly and awkwardly lifted him up by the scruff and got him up onto Frostcloud's back to carry. Perspective wise everything felt a lot farther away than it actually was.
Once Rabbitfolly was on Frostcloud's back he immediately rolled on the snow covered terrain to get the blood and scent off of his pelt before rolling the snow over, "I-" He turned to look back at where the blood was, but it looked weird in this sight, more like light than anything liquid so instead her shut his jaw. There was no way he could volunteer to cover up the gore behind them in this state, it would just have to stay the way it was. Knowing Frostcloud's strict and cold exterior attitude though it was probably wise to just not talk so instead he opted to walk with them in silence.
Frostcloud grunted as Rabbitfolly was hoisted up onto her back. She slowly rose to her paws and began to head back to camp, her eyes dull and emotionless.
It was a long, tiring, and silent trip back to camp. Rabbitfolly's body got heavier and heavier as they trudged on but she kept going. As they entered camp, Frostcloud watched as all the eyes widened and stared in horror as they carried the lifeless body into the center of camp. She could hear gasps and whispers coming from the crowd. She gently laid Rabbitfolly down. "Snowbunny. The job of the Knight of Stars is to prepare cats for burial and vigil. We need to clean him of his blood and make him look peaceful for the vigil. I can show you how." Her voice was barely audible once again. It was soft and mumbly but Snowbunny could still hear what she had to say.

Earlybloom followed with sharp eyes, looking around for any sign of danger. She would have to send someone back to clean up the scene, for now she needed to be with the body. Snowbunny seemed a bit lost in his own head and Frostcloud was stoic, she observed them for any signs of shock. They certainly seemed surprised but otherwise okay.
Getting into camp was hard, the cats there were distressed by the state of Rabbitfolly. She saw a kit wail in dismay and the usually cold Stormsurge actually bent down to lick the kit comfortingly, her eyes glinting with emotion. Various warriors unsheathed their claws as though to fight something that couldn't be fought. The light atmosphere of camp was clogged with dismay and sudden grief and Earlybloom felt almost ashamed as she waited for him to be lowered to the ground. Hearing the words of Frostcloud she spoke gently, "I'll be here as well, we're partners in death, Snowbunny." Grim, but true. The two cats would would together a lot through their lives.

Snowbunny nodded, but uncertainty clouded his eyes as he turned to look at the medicine cat and knight, "Um. Frostcloud, how did you turn off, y'know the ethereal sight? I can't really see right with it on," He admitted, while his claim was an odd one and definitely easy for someone to call him out for lying the embarrassment in his face was a bit too genuine for him to be faking it. His vision was nothing, but grey and aurora colored aura dancing around each cats skeletal bodies. This world was distorted, felt more like a void and yet he could still feel the impacts of the real realm around him. The biting cold, the scent of blood and mangled cat pieces. The only part of his sense that was gone was his vision that he didn't know how to wake up from.
Frostcloud's expression turned from sorrowful to concerned and confused. What was this tom talking about? Her sorrow and confusion made her irritated. "What are you talking about? This isn't a game, Snowbunny. Your clan mate just died! Show some respect!" She growled, her gaze hardening. She hadn't paid attention to Snowbunny's body language indicating that he wasnt making it up. She was far too distraught to function correctly. She assumed he was just trying to be funny in order to lift spirits but this was not a time to joke. It was a time to pay respects and grieve.

Earlybloom listened to Snowbunny's words closely, they didn't all make sense to her but she knew for certain he wasn't trying to play games. "Wait," she meowed, tail brushing Frostcloud in a calming gesture. This was certainly awkward, the three of them needed to be cohesive and efficient, especially while in the middle of camp with the body of a beloved clanmate and rising hysteria from the other cats. Rabbitfolly was in poor condition, he looked horrifying, and Earlybloom couldn't imagine what was going through the heads of the cats who hadn't witnessed what they had. Still, Snowbunny wasn't behaving normally and Earlybloom was inclined to believe something Knight-of-the-Starsy was happening to him. "Snowbunny, what exactly are you seeing?"
Frostcloud backed off when Earlybloom brushed her tail against her. Even though Frostcloud was cold hearted, the cats she respected the most was the Witch, her pupil, the Heir, and the Soverign. Frostcloud didn't know why Earlybloom believed Snowbunny but she wouldn't dare step on the toes of the Witch. If Earlyblossom felt that what Snowbunny was talking about was a serious thing, Frostcloud had to respect that despite feeling that the tom was being disrespectful.
Snowbunny's ears folded and he immediately lowered his head in shame, "I'm sorry Frostcloud, I won't bring it up now," He promised quickly. He knew that technically Frostcloud and him were equals, but she had already done so much to make him know that she was above him even in moments like this. He didn't raise his head right away when Earlybloom spoke to him, "I'm just seeing a lot of fog, nothing looks the same including you two. My visions entirely different ever since I sensed something was wrong. Now I can't flick my sight back to be able to see the rocks on the ground or the blades of grass peaking through the snow. I can feel it, but it's like my vision isn't where I'm at... If that makes sense?" He finally raised his head again, but his ears were still folded, worried that Frostcloud would scold him again. Usually what she said never upset him, but this time he felt genuinely ashamed that he was making himself the center of attention instead of the clanmate that died. He needed to help him out, but he also needed helping turning off the sight and he didn't know how to.
