Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Wispykit was glad to see Tinybreath get Mistralkit under control but it didn't really make her feel any better. Regardless, she quickly judged Firetooth to be an ally - seeing as he actually did something without her having to boss him around - so she leaned into his side. It wasn't quite the reprieve she wanted but it was the best she was going to get in SwiftClan. The silver she-cat looked up at the medicine cat with watery amber eyes, "Is my ear still there or did it get ripped off? It feels so cold now..."
In reality, the wound was barely more than a scrape, it just hit a blood vessel and became a much bigger mess than it should have been. There would not even be a scar. Wispykit didn't know that, though. She had never been wounded like this before and was imagining the worst.
Mistralkit had been following Chimerastar, yet when her question was cut short by Tinybreath squishing her under her paw, she let out an oof as the air left her chest. "Hey! What's the big idea?" She bucked under the weight, but was outmatched in the full-grown warrior and gave up with a long groan designed to annoy whoever had to listen. She leveled a deadly glare at Wispykit, then added Firetooth and Tinybreath in as well, silently plotting their demise. She had been about to talk to Chimerastar, and who knew! He might have promoted her straight to warrior for being such an upstanding cat!
Her thoughts were interrupted when Firetooth began to speak, sticking out her tongue when he called her stupid. "That's not very nice," she grumbled under her breath, tired of being called stupid and ugly and skinny. She'd show them - she'd show them all. When she heard Wispykit's reedy voice, she rolled her eyes so hard they strained. "I wish I had bitten off your ear. It's still there, mousebrain. Go find your mommy to cry to." She winced slightly, expecting a cuff or sharp word in her direction as punishment. It seemed like this fun gathering wasn't so fun anymore. All she tried to do was protect Chimerastar. It wasn't fair!
"Hush you," Tinybreath hissed at the misbehaving kit under her firm paw. "My brother might not have an issue with this sort of behavior, but I do. Sit quiet and behave, or you'll be picking ticks every single day until your promotion." The petite pitch-black feline released Mistralkit from her grasp, only to immediately pull her back and settle the kit in-between her front paws, holding her close to her chest to observe to lesson. As she did so, she sent a scathing glare towards her brother, frustrated that he'd argue with a kit and let a fight break out.
Firetooth ignored Mistralkit's taunts completely, instead dabbing at the cut gently with the spiderwebs. "I think your ear will go on to listen to dumb warriors and annoying kits another day," he remarked dryly, but with the tiniest hint of playfulness in his voice. He hid it well, but the normally grumpy warrior had a bit of a soft-spot when it came to kits. He spent the smallest of appreciative glances toward Tinybreath, before addressing Chimerastar again. "Oi, you have the Burdock Leaves ready or not?!"
Sunnykit slowly stepped back to his brother's side, his tail flickering threateningly as he watched Mistralkit get called aside to have a private chat with the Swiftclan leader. Sunnykit listened on as Firetooth went on, his eye lids already growing heavily with boredom. A dumb expression on his face gave away his true feelings about the training. The ginger kit was beginning to regret choosing to attend the Swiftclan's activity.
"Is there anything cooler than... Burbank leaves? Like a plant that stains your mouth blue? Or a flower that makes cats itchy that you can use to prank other cats with?" Sunnykit inquired out loud, his honey colored orbs narrowed in a mixture of genuine interest and doubt.
Wispykit winced as Firetooth worked on her wound, but it was already feeling better now that most of the blood had been removed. The cut itself had been inflicted by a single kitten tooth and was thus difficult to pin-point in the SummerClan kit's fluff. Luckily it had mostly closed up on its own already, "But it won't leave a scar, will it?"
She didn't know why she asked that, she truly didn't care one way or another. Wispykit was going to be a Warrior someday and be covered in little nicks and scratches like this. It just kind of felt like part of her childhood slipped away with Mistralkit bit her, she couldn't quite pin-point it, the emotion fleeting. Instead she took a deep breath and decided to focus on the medicine cat attending her. Firetooth was gruff but seemed to be on her side. She didn't sense any ill-intent. Even though she was just a kit, Wispykit had a strong feeling that this cat was much more of a leader that Chimerastar was, but she was too polite to say anything about it.
Chim scowled as the medicine cat intervened, feeling rebuked like a particularly annoying kit. He was the leader and he had important business to conduct with Mistralkit. He glared at him, seething silently, but he knew he had to drop it for now. He wasn't going to get into an argument right in front of the kits, and he knew he hadn't been handling this situation well. He just didn't like kits. Chim stalked back over and started to mess around with the burdock, hooking a leaf on a claw. He picked it up and chewed it slowly, keeping his expression as stoic as possible despite the disgusting flavors in his mouth.
"Here," he muttered, spitting it onto his paw pad and offering it to Firetooth.
Wispykit's fur stood on end as she watched Chimerastar prepared the burdock root and she leaned away from Firetooh when she saw the medicine cat reach for the herb. Now, Wisypkit was smart enough to know that this must be the standard way to prepare burdook root, and mature enough to accept that, but did it really have to be the SwiftClan leader who checked it up for her? She would have preferred any other cat except for maybe Mistralkit. She didn't say anything but the expression on her face as too easy to read: 'Please, no.'
