Wildkit was awake again, he'd stared dully at the roof of the den until the sun began peeking over the horizon, at which time he felt he'd be allowed to go outside. He was probably not supposed to, especially since he told exactly no one where he was going. But he was bored and practically vibrating with energy as he padded clumsily outside, a morning dove was crying somewhere close by and the utter silence of the camp made him feel rather jumpy as he paced a bit to warm up.
It was only on certain nights that the nightmares took over Sweetkit's dreams, and it happened rarely enough that the small she-cat still had no idea how to deal with them. She could ask her siblings, they seemed to understand the nightmares well enough, but it seemed like there was an unspoken rule about talking about their past, and she didn't want to be the first to break it. So, instead, she found herself outside most of the time, watching the sunrise to hopefully clear her mind. It worked for the most part, pushing the vivid memories into the whispers of her mind, but she could feel the hidden scars on her skin burn, refusing to let her forget. So, when another kit had left the nursery, she had immediately assumed that her being up had something to do with it. Even still, her paws moved on her own as she followed him, unable to stop herself from reaching out to another soul.
"G-good morning!" she called, then cringed. Why had she stuttered? She tried to paste a bright smile onto her face, hoping that Wildkit wouldn't notice her fumble. She could probably just chalk it up to the cold, she figured.

Wildkit whipped around, his movement fast and jerky as usual, "oh! Morning, kit." He called every kit that, despite he himself being a kit and one of the youngest at that. "You're up early, why? Wanna go out with me? Gonna find that dove!" Wildkit talked fast, flipping between topics with little break inbetween. He was young but he also knew he was annoying to be around. His inability to keep still or quiet was frustrating to every cat, but he could never seem to help it. Wildkit supposed this kit, Sweetkit if he remembered correctly, would brush him off with a baffled look like the others. But still he paced around her, hopping a bit on his paws.
At first, Sweetkit raised a brow at being called 'kit' by another kit, but then the expression only got more ridiculous as Wildkit continued with his questions, leaving her unsure if he even wanted an answer to his first one. She took a moment, going through the quickly asked questions, then slowly said, "I... couldn't sleep? Sure? I don't know how to climb though, so I hope it doesn't fly too high." Her eyes followed the hyperactive kit the entire time she spoke, distracting her to the point that she forgot what she said immediately after saying it. "Did I say I don't know how to climb already?" she asked, doubting herself, "because if not, I don't."

Wildkit paused, meaning he stopped to actually look at her for longer than half a second, she seemed bemused by him. That was typical. But she hadn't left, so that was something. So he made an actual effort to slow down, "sorry, sorry," he mumbled, sitting but kneading his paws in the ground restlessly, "you couldn't sleep, that sucks. We won't climb, I just wanna find the tree, and yeah, you already told me." He stared down at his paws, watching them kneading the ground as though they weren't his. Embarrassment flooded him and he wondered, for the hundredth time, why he was like this. "But let's not leave yet, wanna talk about why you couldn't sleep?"
He could do this, he could listen and behave himself.
Oh, so she did already say that, huh? Sweetkit flushed, suddenly more self-conscious than normal, which only doubled in intensity when Wildkit actually seemed to care enough to ask about why it was that she couldn't sleep. The small she-cat avoided his gaze, looking anywhere and everywhere except for at the kit in front of her. She shouldn't worry him, he probably had enough to deal with. Still, it was rude to ignore his question, so maybe she should give him a bit of truth. So, she sat down and did her best to look him in the eyes. "I, uh, I had a bad dream. It happens sometimes, but it's really nothing to worry about. What about you? You're up early, too." Please, please don't ask about what the dream was about. She wasn't sure that she could lie about it.

"What did you dre-" he began, only to snap his mouth shut and flatten his ears in embarrassment. That wasn't a question to ask a cat you'd just met, even he knew that. "I didn't sleep," he meowed instead, shrugging two times instead of just once. "I don't sleep a lot, gotta lot of stuff to do. Sleep feels stupid. But I do fall asleep sometimes by accident. I wanna be the first cat to not have to sleep." Wildkit scratched behind his left ear as he talked, for no other reason other than movement. "Wouldn't that be cool? Then I could hunt and fight while everyone got to sleep!"
Sweetkit swore she felt her heart skip a beat or two when he started asking the dreaded question, but relief soon flooded over her when he changed the subject. It wasn't really that she didn't trust him, she was just afraid to mention anything about her past to anyone. She tilted her head to the side, listening to Wildkit ramble about sleep and watching his movements with curiosity. "I think I heard something about a type of fish that shuts down half its brain at a time to sleep, so that it can keep swimming and doing things without having to worry about stopping to sleep," she commented, though the name of the fish completely escaped her. Was it even a certain type of fish, or fish in general? She was unsure.

[[ sorry it's taken so long, life has been nonstop right up until the quarantine announcement lol ]]
Wildkit's mouth dropped open in astonishment, "really?! I wanna do that! Be that fish. Then I could protect Calamitystar and the queens and kits and elders all the time." He looked at Sweetkit critically before adding, "you could help! I'm sure we could both be like the fish. I wonder if this fish lives in FallClan. And if we could find the fish. What do you think?"
Sweetkit cast a quick look at the nursery, as if she was trying to see her siblings within. She knew she wasn't going to get any more sleep than she already had, so perhaps it wouldn't hurt to go along with Wildkit. It was better than possibly waking anyone up. So, making up her mind, she gave a small smile to the other kit. She doubted that she could talk him out of anything. "It might," she said. "Live here, I mean. I've never seen any fish before, so I'm not sure what it looks like. I don't actually remember what it was called, either..." She paused, going over what she said in her head. "No, I mean, I've seen fish before! I've eaten them! I just haven't seen them alive!"
