The leafbare air had bitten at her nose earlier that morning, but sun had come out in glorious fashion and warmed the day nicely. Though she was considered an invalid by most of the clan, she never truly felt like anyone was upset at her except in those leafbare months when prey ran scarce and she found herself at the freshkill pile every day, taking but never giving. The FallClan warrior felt frustrated tears gather in the corners of her eyes, but blinked them away vigorously, refusing to give in to the helpless anger she often found directed at herself.
Palestep slowly, slowly make her way through the territory, blurry vision no help, though her milky olive eyes tried their best to make out the fuzzy shapes of trees, bushes, and downed logs. She found, more often than not, she was colliding with something and was certainly never going to catch any prey, but kept on at it despite her rumbling stomach and aching body. She had just taken a particularly hard tumble down an incline when she heard something nearby. Her hear leaped into her throat, eyes frantically trying to make out what had caused the sound.
"H-hello?" she called hoarsely, cursing herself for her foolish pride. Of course she couldn't catch anything when she was no better than blind! Going out into the territory was a fool's errand, more likely to cause trouble for the clan than help it. "Identify yourself, please. I'm Palestep, of FallClan." She waited breathlessly for the response, praying for an irate clanmate over a badger or fox.
A head poked out from a bush, "No-WAY!" She exclaimed stepping out fully. She was like a walking wildfire, cinnamon auburn waves of fur seemed to flicker like a flame in the sunlight and her reddish bombshell shades shimmered like beach shores. Honey blond fur drizzled across her fur like an expensive desert and emerald eyes shined brighter than starlight as she drank in the atmosphere around her. With a breath taking sigh she took a seat, "Wow, it's so beautiful, I can't believe I always took a wrong turn and wound up in BrookClan all those years, now I can finally see this for real," She spoke as if she walked into a fairytale. There was wonder and whimsy hanging off every word.
"I'm Glowstar of DayClan, but also I used to be in WaterClan, and the league, and also I'm technically a member of SunClan. That's just what happens when you decide to enlist your services into assassinations at a young age, wooh, brings you through some crazy residencies." She leaned onto her right shoulder, looking Palestep over, "So uh, none of my business, but are you hunting or?-"
Of course, anyone would get the wrong idea if they were to see a clanmate, bruised and battered at the bottom of a steep incline, with the leader of a different clan standing nearby. Which was exactly what the so-called Mistress of the Hunt was witness to as her lithe grey form stepped out into the clearing, the limp body of a skinny rabbit in her jaws. Having been too far away to hear much of the conversation, with only certain words such as 'Glowstar', 'assassinations' and 'hunting' really sticking out to her, she was left with only her imagination to fit the pieces together. Even in her head, though, the puzzle was missing quite a bit, but she knew she should step in before there was yet another murder on Fallclan territory.
Still, as Greyhunt would rather leave the antagonizing to her twin, she turned on the charm as she sauntered over to the pair. "Well hello there, darling," she purred, letting her tail just barely touch Glowstar as she passed her, pausing at Palestep's side. As far as her nose could tell her, there was no blood on the blind she-cat, and that was a temporary relief for her. She turned her attention back to the leader, casting a radiant smile, and continued, "So, what brings you here? Surely it can't be our prey." She paused, motioning to the rabbit that she had dropped by the bushes. If she could handle this peacefully, that would be ideal. Besides, it would be rather embarrassing if she were to call out Glowstar's actions and be completely wrong about it.

Palestep internally melted with relief when the scent of another FallClan cat tickled her nose moments before Greyhunt's voice broke the silence after Glowstar's monologue. Resolved to keep her spine straight and voice unwavering, she mewed, "Glowstar was just telling me about her life's story. Truly, one for the nursery, I think." She honestly had very little experience with the goings on in other clans and knew little to none about the infamous Glowstar, only that hers was a name on the tongue of every cat in AND out of the forest.
She tried to make out Greyhunt's features, tried to read the situation as well as she could but found that they were just outside of the range of her vision, leaving them as blurry shapes bobbing to and fro. She, like Greyhunt, hoped to resolve the situation peacefully but also knew that she would be a huge liability should a fight break out. Not only could she not protect herself, but she would be a prime target for any attacker, forcing Greyhunt to play offense and defense at the same time.
Palestep slowly began to back up, and winced when she put weight on her hindpaw. She cursed silently when she felt the incline's steep slope hit her tail. She'd fallen down here. Of course getting back up wouldn't be easy for a cat with a sprained paw, even if that cat could see. Put the two together and she was destined to be a burden like always. She sent a silent prayer to StarClan that this would all end peacefully and she could go back to camp with her tail tucked in shame.
"Oh hey, what's up?" Glowstar asked casually as though she had known Greyhunt her entire life. She nodded at the question "I wanted to check in with Calamitystar about the invite and confirm its authenticity. I also couldn't excuse the chance of seeing such fanciful landscapes." For a moment she absorbed in the details, wondered what cool action pact life they must have in such a beautiful setting. However the daydream didn't last long and concern flickered in her emerald eyes as she walked closer to Palestep, forming more visible in her vision than she had before, "You don't look too good, are you alright?" She sniffed the air around her and then looked to Palestep's paws, usually that gave hints of what could have happened. She couldn't smell or see anything unusual though, at first glance.
Of course Calamitystar would invite Glowstar over. Maybe he invited her to go on a camping trip or a picnic or something, maybe just a feast. It was none of Greyhunt's concern though. Just as the lithe she-cat started to relax when Glowstar commented on Palestep's condition, and it was only after that did the Mistress of the Hunt notice the wince on the blind warrior's face. Subconsciously, she placed herself between the two other she-cats as she took over the job of looking for any noticeable injuries. The air still lacked the tangy smell of blood, which had previously been a relief to Greyhunt, but now it only worried her because then she couldn't figure out what was the matter. She was no healer, and had no idea of how much Glowstar would know. If it was something more serious, what would they do?
"It was the fall?" she asked instead, deciding the best cat to give them the information would be the one in question. "Want to head back to camp?"

"I- ah, yes I think that would be best," murmured Palestep, cheeks hot with shame. "It was good to meet you, Glowstar. I apologize for the inconvenience. If you would like, we can escort you back to camp. I believe Calamitystar should be there now, for your meeting." She tried to keep an air of dignity about her, but couldn't swallow the embarrassment she felt. Still, she would let Greyhunt chew her out all she wanted back at camp, but for now she would show Glowstar the honor and pride of FallClan warriors.
"If you will just walk ahead of me, I should be able to follow, well enough," she mewed quietly, testing out her paw again. She hid a wince when she put too much weight on it, but as long as she didn't spend too long on it, she would be able to limp back to camp just fine. Hoping to hide the fear she'd surly been emanating earlier, she tried for a conversational tone. "I hope you find our territory to your liking, Glowstar? Though it's leafbare, we have a number of trees that keep their leaves and needles year-round."
Glowstar snickered before putting a paw up to her muzzle, "Sorry, it's just. FallClan... And you said... You said fall. I'm sorry, yes let's go back to camp." She still looked like she had the giggles, but seemed to get over it when Palestep started talking again. She watched Palestep hobble forward, the injury fresh and painful the more pressure the she-cat put onto her paw. Palestep said something about trees and FallClan's land, but she couldn't help, but be distracted by the she-cats suffering, "Yeah that's amazing," She responded warily to Palestep before walking ahead of her a little and stopping her, "Listen, when I've been a leader with only one life my whole life I tend to pick up on how not to die and one key skill is knowing when you're hurt and when to get help. You're hurt and you need help. You could be really tough today and walk all the way back, but you could also be out of commission for a whole week lying around camp, or lie and say you're okay and get injured more. Let your clanmate help you or even I can just carry you all the way back to camp, I lifted the nemesis around like last week so I'm actually pretty toned and capable of carrying you up if you want."
"No way I'm leaving you to play catch up," Greyhunt responded, ignoring most of what Glowstar had said. Being friends with Shorthalt had let her learn how to tune out useless information quite well, since it seemed like the short cat didn't know how to shut up. If it were possible, he would definitely talk anyone's ears off. The silver tabby padded up close beside Palestep to lend her stable body as a crutch, leaning into the she-cats ear to whisper, "Never feel bad for asking for help when you need it. I do it all the time. We all have our strengths and weaknesses."
Lifting her head back up, she faced the Dayclan leader again. "I'm afraid the going might be a little slower, but I hope you don't mind the leisurely pace. It will give you plenty of time to take in the scenery." Her leader might not mind letting a cat from a different clan wander around Fallclan territory on their own, but it didn't really sit too well with Greyhunt. She was sure that Glowstar probably wouldn't do anything, but with the recent murder of Littlelamb, she couldn't be too careful.

Palestep felt embarrassed, but the matter-of-fact way they spoke indicated she would just prolong the cringy encounter for longer if she argued. With a sigh, the she-cat thankfully leaned against Greyhunt, groaning in relief when the weight was taken from her paw. "This is much better, thank you," she mewed quietly to Greyhunt before raising her voice to Glowstar. "And thank you for your wisdom. I'm sure a cat like you that has lived among so many different clans has picked up some knowledge. It's a boon to hear you speak."
The territory felt insurmountably large with her progress further impeded by her paw, but like Greyhunt said it would give them time to show Glowstar the beauties FallClan could boast. It would also give her clanmates a chance to notice Glowstar and report back before they got to camp, giving Calamitystar some time to react before being surprised by a visitor of such infamy.
“This pace is more than alright, once I had to drag my boyfriend from rogue country to moon creek in order to break his curse. An absolute hassle like nothing else. Taught me to appreciate the more leisurely times, after all I’m not DayClan born with the heart of a horse, they’re so quick I don’t know how I’ve lasted keeping up with them,” Glowstar remarked before letting out a gasp, “What is this darling little play area?” She was speaking about the bushes and tree surrounding a small glade that was the training area for apprentices, “Wow, this is simply charming, I’m in love. It’s just such a happy looking place!” She purred.
