Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Welcome to the site! Name's Poa. I lead WinterClan with Wintrystar and then have Amberpaw in Fallclan as the medicine cat apprentice. I have a kit available in WinterClan if you'd like it. There's Cherrykit and Bronzekit
but anyway, hello! i'm evelyn, the resident punthetic dorklord here on Classic. i only have cats in fall and swift, though i have yet to use my swift ones oops.
though i see your plan of just adopting one kit has failed. it never works.
I apologize for not responding before this. I hadn't realized there was a way to keep track of threads.
Should I be messaging people to rp? I just made some open threads in the clans I joined because that seemed the easiest way to go? But they haven't gotten replies so I'm wondering if I should be messaging people? Sorry for the questions, just wondering if there was perhaps a more efficient way to go about rping here? Do people arrange the rps in the skype chat?
Also hello everyone, thank-you for the welcomes. Sorry to get to the thank-you last. And yes my plan to adopt only one kit didn't stick. But 4 is a good number and I will settle with that. It gives me 3 clans. I have no idea how others manage more.
We plot in all kinds of way, open threads, messaging people, Skype. The most effective way is going to General Discussion and titling your thread that you want to plot and then list your characters. People always reply to those and start rps that way. Basically on Classic it's never weird to ask people to rp out of the blue and it's also totally cool to ask as many questions as you would like! ~♥
normally i just use skype for coming up with plots, but there are plenty of threads on the general discussion board asking for plots! one time faith messaged like 30 people or something to ask them to rp with her, apparently. so that is also a valid thing to do! i also like to stalk character threads and scream at people that i wanna rp with one of their cats or something. i'm planning to reply to the thread you made in fallclan as soon as i stop being dizzy. i think i'm getting dehydrated oops.
i can only really manage being in one group. i used to have so many cats in so many clans, but i always forgot about most of them, so i find it easier to just limit myself to one or two groups. and then i end up flooding them with characters. my bad.
also, i really want to comment on your profile picture, by the way! i really loved the witcher netflix series!! i admittedly don't know as much as i would like about the witcher since my only other experience is with Witcher 3, and i wasn't even the one playing most the time, but it always stuck out to me as a great game, and the series was so good omg. i heard that some people had a problem with how Geralt's looks were portrayed, but honestly i think it's great. i hear he looks much different in the books though
Want me to teach you how to tag people in threads? Do it to cleaver she'll love you for it!
To the left of the bar above your reply section, there's a little person in blue with an @ by them. Click that and start typing their name. It'll pop up from there and you select it. That'll send them a notification which they can click on and it'll take them straight to the thread. To find notifications, click on the my profile tab at the top. You'll also find your my threads thing there and you can click that and see the threads you've recently replied to and see if they've been replied too. Bookmarking can be done by clicking the actions tab at above the first post in a thread. You'll get notifications when people reply to those threads as well and it makes it easy to not lose threads that way.
Faith [thank-you pao]. I shall try that then and make a plot thread for my kitten characters on the new board. Thank-you!
Cleaver I adopted a kit in Winterclan, a cat in Springclan, and another kit in Fallclan. So I have an open thread in Winterclan, and an open thread in Springclan. And you don't have to reply if you're busy! I clicked on your characters link and you already have so many cats!
lavellan I don't think Geralt looks that different in the books than he does the series. I read the books and if I remember correctly I think they stayed pretty true to his appearance. The only thing I recall is his eyes being different I think? Honestly it didn't bother me because the Netflix series does stay very true to the books if with a little creative license. Some scenes are better in the show I would argue and some are better in the book. But it's like that with most adaptions from books to shows. But the Netflix series and the books both stay very very similar in the story line. Everything is pretty much the same as what happens in the first two books, especially in the outcomes. Just differ in the path it takes to reach those outcomes in some scenarios. But it's a great series! I lvoe Geralt and Dandelion.
gerald and dandelion are the literal best. i love them. also, Toss A Coin To Your Witcher? i love it. it may have just been the eyes, and the scar? I'm unsure, i don't really remember what the person had been saying exactly that was complaining about this. i know triss looks completely different, though. man, are people trying to cut redheads out of existence? would you recommend reading the books? are they different enough from the show to still be enjoyable? i mean, i would still read it even if the plot was the exact same as the show because i just really enjoy books.
I would strongly recommend the books. Though in the later books it becomes much less about Geralt/Gerald and much more about Ciri & Yennefer. Which I was disappointed about because the first two books checked all the boxes on things I love. Witty banter, fight scenes, a character that could be consider an anti-hero. I think you'd enjoy reading them as well even having seen the show because I think the small differences alone and bigger ones would keep you reading. I'd also like someone to talk to about some of the bigger differences. And would like to know what version of events you like better in each instance. And yeah Triss was so different in the show it took me someone pointing out she was Triss for me to realize who she was because I kind of miss names a lot. One of the things I will say about the books is I almost expected better writing and I think the show helps you ignore some of the flaws you might be more critical about if you didn't know the games or the show. The concept it great, but it you read a lot like I assume you do, and read some really epic tales then you might be surprised by the Witcher series books and how they're written. But they were also translated from Polish so I think that might also be part of the reason.
How many toss a coin to your witcher remix have you listened to. Some of them are amazing.
I've read a large variety of different writing styles, so I'm sure I'll be able to get through it. especially if i could read the Hobbit, which, no offence to anyone who loves the books, honestly seemed like it dragged a lot when he went on for pages about the history of just a random item of no consequence. also heck, i realized i made a typo and called him Gerald and now i'm upset with myself. I think I'm going to look into the prices of the books and start reading them!
i've only listened to like two or three different ones by some of my favorite people. admittedly, i normally just put on like an hour - 10-hour loop and let it play in the background as i do other stuff. i would love to hear some of your favorite ones, though! also book recommendations, if you have any c:
