Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Glowstar was isolated for trying to help Spring and DayClan cats escape. Isolation itself wasn't going to work. She had been through this before and Foxstar was well aware of this. It was why Glowstar knew that Foxstar wouldn't be as hands off if she continued to rebel like this. At the same time there was nowhere for DayClan to run to. The snow had already fallen and DayClan was a death trap full of blizzards. Even if she escaped there was no home to run back to. It would be easier to obey, she had no problem with loyalties. But it was different in SunClan. In Primal Instincts there were the loyalists, but there were also the crazies. Maybe they didn't always listen, but that insane nature about them still was of value and accepted. Here there was no acceptance of the mad and disorderly. The odd ones, the freaks, the misfits. It was why everyone in SunClan seemed so boring. They all had to behave the same or else face the consequences. She'd rather die being who she is than live being who she wasn't. But. She had kits in SunClan and a clan that needed to be guarded from the threats that came with SunClan. Comply and save the clan or rebel and possibly lose it all.
Glowstar stared up at the ceiling, "Sun God. Do you actually like that every cat is a suck up who kisses the paws of greater cats to get far in life? Or are you more like, "wow, this is what I'm stuck with?" She asked, "If I'm sucky you can set me on fire. Actually just set my tail on fire, I could be called Hotstuff. It would be great," She snickered to herself, but let out a sigh, she doubted he'd get back to her. It wouldn't be like last time.
"I would not tempt the Sun God so..." came a soft voice from the entrance to the darkened den. A small paw lead the way as a small long-furred she-cat entered into the den. Even with her long fur, she was barely larger than an apprentice. Hardly and intimidating sight... Yet, she had managed to rise up the ranks of SunClan, and would eventually lead her clan after Foxstar's passing.
"He does not think in the same way as you and I, and he might take your request literally... Hotstuff was it?" a little smile tugged at the edge of her lips teasingly. While Littlebird always tried to maintain an air of dignity and respect, she was not above making a joke or two. She seemed to be a far cry from the cruelty of her father, if it were not for those eyes. The same golden eyes that had struck fear into all the cats in WinterClan. The same eyes that now rested on the fallen leader.
"Okay, how about Hotmess?" Glowstar asked with a smile, but didn't get up to greet Littlebird.
Every other time she stood up while confined most cats tensed and looked ready to attack. Maybe Littlebird knew better, but Littlebird was probably one of the few cats she really didn't want to upset. She licked her lips, hungry. She wasn't against digging up insects to eat. When she was in Primal Instincts it had been common training to learn what insects had the highest protein to live off of. If a league cat captured or in lands that had no prey it would come in handy. Her head tilted to the side, "Are you going to murder me or something? Cause I have some fun ideas on how I can die. Not trying to say your ideas aren't cool, but I just think getting chucked off a waterfall for would be so epic. Or maybe eaten alive by rabid- y'know never mind that one," she laughed.
"Thrown off a waterfall or fed to a a rabid animals. Hm, I shall keep your prefered method in mind when your time comes. Although, those seem rather crude. You are a leader in your own right, and I'm sure I can find a way to end even your life with some scrap of dignity" although her words sounded harsh, she had no intentions of murdering Strik just yet. No, she she was of more use to the Sun God alive than dead.
"Unfortunatly it is not your time to die just yet. You still have many things to acomplish before you leave this life behind. I am here to help guide you on the right path, to show you what could be" The little she-cat did not fear Strik, not in the same way she had when she was younger.
Glowstar glanced away, but Littlebird could see the fear in Glowstar's eyes. There were only three things in the world that scared Glowstar. Number one was of course the creature forged from the eternal flames of the Dark Forest, the ferret. Then the lack of freedom and thirdly, cults. SunClan was a cult. It was a society of people who put religion before family and morals. All those gorgeous flaws that made someone who they were. The thought of being put on a path made her feel sick. She was born in Renegade Regime, she had felt every part of her stiff from so many watchful eyes keeping her in place. The way they used the dark to act comforting and docile anyone. The surface was too overwhelming, the light was too painful. It was how they lured cats away from ever learning of anything outside of their home. They tried to tear her down to mold her to be a soldier who did what they wanted and when she proved to have a mind of her own she was locked away. She grimaced at the thought of going through it again and at the fear it still had on her, "There's no such thing as paths and I don't really want to know what's good for me."
She looked at Littlebird, her eyes weren't alluring enough to feel the need to entertain the idea, but she was still Hazethroats daughter. Somewhere in heaven she'd probably tell her to play along with her daughters wild imagination and to not be a wussy about it. She got up and walked over to Littlebird, "Let's see if you're better at brainwashing than Foxstar."
She could see the fear in Strik's eyes, it was the first time in which she wasn't left in the dark about how the she-cat was feeling. It was within her power to strike her down, yet she choose differently.
She huffed slightly "Brainwashing, pff" she had to resisit the urge to roll her eyes. "No, you won't be any good to my clan if you are an brainwashed minion who can not think on their own. No I would rather have you as an ally. Any enemy that sees you among our ranks is sure to have them shaking. You have a reputation among the clans, I'm sure you know" she flicked her tail lightly on the leader's should
"Now come along, I have some things that I want to show you"
Somehow that denial felt good enough to trust her. Glowstar sashayed over to Littlebird’s side, “if there’s no brainwashing then I’ll follow you,” she said, her smile lighting up her eyes from forest green to a light emerald shade.
Littlebird exited the den, closing her eyes as the warmth of the sun washed over her. It was times like this that she was reminded of the glory of the Sun God. Although, it paled in comparison to basking in his presence.
She led the way out of the den to where their captives were being held. It was a makeshift camp, as cats went about their business. "What do you think about your clan's current lodgings?" she asked as they walked among them "And do be honest, I would like to hear your opinion"
She watched as cats went from place to place, most of their eyes on her. Not that she blamed them. Her long gray fur was covered in the warm tones of paint, a flame emblazened upon her forehead. She was the priestess promised, one of the cats that had been instrumental in their imprisonment.
She hadn't expected that question, "We're used to literally sleeping inside the walls of stone, SpringClan's more used to this kind of setup, but it's more meadow like. So I'm guessing it doesn't feel like home at all to literally anyone. But there's prey here so that's cool, we wouldn't be eating any if we were in DayClan camp. We also used to live in a camp more like this so it's alright. I'm sure if you conquer the world it'll look a little more like home to me. Y'know like Primal Instincts prison camps where we took kits who felt unwanted by their previous clans, took them in, made them feeling special. Let them rise through the ranks at a young age and eventually become leader. Oh and we also brainwashed our members into submission or forced them to follow us or else they'd die and tried to take over other clans. But that story i'm sure doesn't even sound slightly familiar to you. Because if it did history wouldn't be repeating itself," Glowstar laughed merrily, not at the comment, but almost a sad laugh like, wow this is my life.
"Mmm" she hummed as she listened to Stirk's explanation. She was actually curious about how their prisoners were feeling about their acommadations, and Strik would know the general feelings of her clan. Happy sheep, were easier to keep after all.
"Perhaps we can make some modifications to make this place more similar to their home" she spoke, more to herself than to Strik. However what she said next had caught her attention. She knew a lot of WinterClan and SunClan history, but little of the other groups. It was something that she had always been interested in, but had not yet had the oppurtunity to explore.
"No I'm afraid that is not a story that is spoken of here. The only story of Primal Instinct I have heard, was about their merciless stealing of kit and their interactions with WinterClan"
"Cute," Glowstar skimmed her paw along the ground curiously before meeting Littlebird's gaze. She cocked her head, revealing the silvery edges of her scars, "So is this the path you're talking about? Fixing up the dens or was this just a side topic? Not that I'm rushing you, I just can't tell. I'm also convinced it's some sort of brainwashing and you're just labeling the path as being a different thing, but it's really the same thing."
"All in good time Strik. Your the only one who can decide your path. As much as I hope for you to choose SunClan, it is your decision alone to make " that much was the truth. If Strik had made up her mind that she wanted nothing to do with SunClan there was little that she could do. No she was only here to show her what could be, should she choose to become an ally. "However, it is my duty to ensure that you have all the information you need to make an informed decision. During our time together today, I will not lie to you. I promise that much on my mother's name"
She continued to walk "You see, unlike Foxstar I would rather not shed the blood of innocents to achieve our goals. Not that I mind a little blood on my paws, but sometimes an extending an olive branch is more effective than forcing compliance. You are the leader of DayClan, and your clan will follow your lead"
"You know, Littlebird, let me explain something to you," Glowstar said wrapping her tail around Littlebird like a mother about to tell her kit a story, "Foxstar kidnapped me attempted to brainwash me into rejecting a person I love and to fall in line, but I thought hey! Everyone makes mistakes. Then Foxstar chased me down when I tried to leave and killed me knowing I would die for good. But I said you know what, she's a troubled individual and I can help her. Then Foxstar decided to enslave two entire populations of cats and damned me and everyone I know to be a shadow of our old selves or die. And I'm giving her a pass. I've put up with a lot of her filth, not even counting the fact that she arranged a marriage I did not agree to or the fact that she's separated kits from their mothers. I'm Foxstar's best friend because I'm her only friend. Because no one else can stand her. I stuck with her despite our obvious toxic relationship. I'm not as loyal as they come, I'm as insane as they come."
Her paw wrapped around Littlebird's back, she could feel Glowstar's claws, but they didn't cut, just pressed in enough for her to know that they were there. Her once emerald eyes were as dark as forests at night as she turned slowly, deliberately. Her haunting gaze reflecting in Littlebird's eyes as her princess perfect smile broke into distorted pieces like a damaged mirror, "I know to Foxstar I'm her monster on a leash more than she ever thinks of me as a sister. But understand that I am a monster guarding a treasure. She knew better than to take what's mine. You will never have DayClan, just my insanity."
Her claws gingerly sheathed and moved past Littlebird's pelt back to Glow's side, "When you're leader, we can talk, but let's face it, if Foxstar dies I'm likely dead on the ground next to her. You have my loyalty Littlebird, but you don't have my clans, it's not yours or mine to take. There's a reason I didn't accept nine lives, I didn't deserve them."
Her gaze softened, but her smile was gone. There was a barrier from ever hurting Littlebird, she wouldn't hurt Hazethroat's kit, but she didn't know that. Nor did she want her to know that.
Littlebird didn't falter, even feeling the she-cat claws against her skin. It wasn't the first time she had placed her life on the line, and it wasn't the last. Her golden eyes never left her "Every cat is an individual, and their loyalty is not yours to give..." that much was true, but Strik had a chance here to lead her clan to salvation
"Yet many of your own have choose to become initiates. To join our ranks, to bask in the glory of the Sun God. As their leader, shouldn't the safety of your clan come before your own selfish desires? You may say what you wish about SunClan, many say that we are a cult. But what this clan really offers is safety, a sense of belonging, a family. We live by our own code, a code that keeps peace and order in our lands"
"Wah, eh, buh, teh, eh... I'm sorry I forgot how to speak cause I didn't realize you were crazy too. Hi, I've been insane for about a decade, and you're either insane or are threatening me, which I'd be okay with, but from a fellow crazy to another crazy I think you're just a little bit out of your mind. You and I both know that if a cat doesn't believe in the Sun God or doesn't possess a pure and noble heart that they won't be accepted and executed. I'd rather have been kidnapped by literally any clan, but this one with the only exception being the league."
Glowstar glanced away guiltily like she just yelled at a kitten and shouldn't have been too hard on them before looking back at her, "Here's something I know you'll understand. DayClan cats aren't like SunClan, they don't have your clans trademark undying obedience or blissful belief in religion, we are fifty percent outsiders from loners and kittypets who have never been introduced to such a thing as religion. They don't stand the same equal chances as your clanmates or your initiates. They'd need more time and less rules. There's not many cats that will fit your standard, Littlebird, I'm sorry."
(So I was thinking we could fas forward to present where currently two of Glowstar's warriors were executed, Rubyflame's missing, and her mates imprisoned. Littlebird can come over her and try to convince her again considering she's in her weakest hour. If that's cool with you, if not we can just switch back to the past)
Strikhedoniadalisay lay draped over on a stone a little ways outside of SunClan's camp. She needed to dedicate a day to feeling absolutely hopeless to drain it out of her system. She didn't know if Renegade was coming, he said he had to prepare, but it had been a while, almost would be a week. Maybe they weren't coming. Which was too bad because everything felt near to being too late. Her best friend and daughter in law, Rubyflame was gone. She knew she should have hid her, but didn't. She couldn't forgive herself if she hid her in the cold and she lost all two of her lives. The two warriors she watched over their entire lives were dead and her mate was probably going to be dead too. A moment of utter hopelessness and self pity.
"Hey big man, I don't blame you, it's in your nature like chaos is in mine But you gotta understand, I can't help, but be sad," Strik said, staring up at the sunny sky, she never prayed, she would always just openly speak aloud to the sun god as if he were right next to her.
"That is just it, you do have the power to do something about this" came the soft words of Littlebird as she gazed upon the defeated form of Strik. She looked down, very unlike the normally sassy and untouchable leader that she was.
"It doesn't have to be this way. No one wants to see lives just thrown away"at least she didn't anyways. She and Foxstar had been trying to get Glowstarto cooperate for moons, and with each refusal the treatment had been getting more and more brutal.
The agreement sounded so foreign and out of place that it came with such an unearthly feel as though the words had poured out from another dimension. Her eyes stared out towards DayClan's border as she rubbed her eyes, "But I don't see what I can do to fix this. Even if I convinced everyone to go through initiation so many would still fail. And it's hard to look past the fact that my mate Deal would still die and Rubyflame would still be missing."
This was the first time she was actually genuinely considering their plan. Finally her spirit was at a low, but not broken enough to push doubt aside. SunClan was close to getting their way and maybe close enough. Glowstar thought it over in her head, for as long as she could remember her whole family was made up of cats who served. Always an assassin, never a leader. Apart of her knew that her being a leader inconvenienced Foxstar to an extent. That Foxstar would rather have her army and have her as an assassin than for Glowstar to have any control. Plus Foxstar was technically her leader and not only that, but a force she couldn't live without. They were control and chaos and this time control won over the chaos queen, "And after all is said and done would I just be Strikhedoniadalisay? The senator with Darkcomplex as my mate and seven kits. I don't know if I could do that..."
