The sky above them was a deep indigo that was darkening with every second that ticked by, time was fleeting but, these king of things could not be rushed, oh no. This had to be perfect, nothing could be left to chance. If he was too quick it would send the wrong message, too slow and he would miss his opportunity. Every hair on his pelt pricked and tingled with the excitement and anticipation, but still he sat calmly, his amber eyes flicking to the horizon, just waiting. Soon he thought, a purr rising in his throat as he idly worked the grass under his paws with his claws. A gentle breeze blew through the barren trees, ruffling his fur just so as it went by. The night air was cold but he neither felt it nor cared even if he had.
A soft whimper pulled him from his trance like state and his gaze snapped to the figure lain at his paws, his expression, softened into something... warm and almost caring. He crouched slowly until his mouth was just above the poor cat's ear. "Hush my child." he purred soothingly to the whimpering cat. He ran his tail gently down the other cat's spine, the scent of herbs still lingering on the cat's breath. "It'll all be over soon" he cooed, smiling to himself. Amber eyes gleaming he straightened up only when the other fell silent, the gentle rise and fall of his flank showing that the cat was still very much alive. He, after all had volunteered for this. It was vital that he remained a willing participant until the end of the night's events.
"Everyone gather around, the time is nearly upon us." Leviathan beckoned his follows to him with a repetitive curl of his tail. The sun had sunk completely below the horizon and out of sight, but it's last rays lingered in Selene's absence. "We mustn't delay Selene cannot regain her strength until the ritual is complete."
Visigoth sat facing Leviathan, his blue eyes staring at the drugged cat. He knew that the cat volunteered for this but he just had never been a part of a sacrifice yet. It was for Selene though and that was all he needed to know to soothe his soul. The black and grey tom had never been a part of anything before. Of course, he had lived with other cats but they never offered him something to believe in. This offered him hope, something for both his life now and the next. This Goddess of the Moon had given him what others could not. So he now belongs to Leviathan, or at least that is how he sees it. He owns the tom his soul.
"Of course." He nodded, glancing up at the sky. It was finally becoming dark though no moon would grace their presence tonight. It was a shame, he had grown used to its comforting glow. Visigoth had been reborn and considering his looks, it was perfect for him. His plush pelt stood up against the cold and his eyes dilated in the disappearing light. The tip of his tail twitched, tapping rhythmically against his paws. His stomach rumbled softly, a result of the fast that the group had undertaken. It was different from the days that he had starved when he was alone and unable to find prey. This time he was not weak or trembling; rather he felt light and almost rejuvenated.
yep gonna roleplay this kitty without a bio, I have no idea what kind of cat Blitz is but here we go
Blitzen padded forward and sat to Visigoth's left, his yellow eyes dilated in the low lights and focused on the sacrifice. Each whimper sent a wave of what felt like static electricity up and down the silvery-gray tom's flank. The anticipation was killing him. He turned his head up to the sky and watched the Sun's rays fading away, first dying the sky beautiful colors, before yielding to the familiar night blue. He whistled very quietly as his white tail lashed from side to side, sure to annoy anyone sitting very close to him. He just could not help it. This was exhilarating.
He had followed Leviathan purely because of what he had promised. Sure, It hadn't taken much to convince Blitzen to venture away from the dump he had been living in, but the allure of this Moon Goddess, Selene, was driving him mad. Even as a kit he would stare at the moon for hours, awed by its beauty and the way it effortlessly changed its face. The idea that she was alive and watching out for him was all it took. He was pretty sure he was in love with her, after all. Selene. Would this beautiful she-cat, clothed in fur as white as the moon, appear before them out of thin air? What would she do, give them a kiss, sing them a song? Leviathan hadn't promised them anything, not yet, but the air teemed with energy that seemed to come from nowhere at all.
Blizten had a lopsided grin as he turned his gaze back to the sacrifice, but he remained silent, observant.

Twig crept forward quietly, his ears tipped forward, his tail still. His golden eyes were wide and mixed with emotion — fear, awe, curiosity... He shivered as a chilling breeze swept through his tabby fur. Twig was the youngest of Leviathan’s recruits, but nonetheless completely devoted to Selene, though he had barely stepped paw into the life. He wondered if they were doing the right thing, killing a cat. The young tom, only seven moons old, glanced up at where the moon should have been. He could imagine that her light was shining a brilliant white, like when it was full, and though the air was cold, Twig suddenly felt warm to the tips of his claws.
His gaze settled on their sacrifice, his heart hammering now with anticipation. His eyes were filled with a hunger that wanted to please Selene and Leviathan. He sat up straight, holding up his chin, though he was still much smaller than the other cats around him. He wanted to show that he was confident and strong, and that he could handle this. What would his mother think of him now, joining cats with a purpose? He thought she’d be proud.
Perhaps the only one of the group who did not feel anything was Reaper. That was nothing new, of course. She rarely felt anything more than idle curiosity. Her travels had taken her far and wide, and everywhere things were the same. Her stint as an assassin had desensitized her to blood and death. If Leviathan had asked, she would have killed the cat without a second thought. Even if he was not so willing. Curiously, her time as a rogue had brought her to Leviathan. She was a loyal lackey, if given proper recognition and benefits, though she held no proper belief system, even in the Moon Goddess. Reaper knew she existed, but she lacked the devotion that others had. She did not voice this, simply because it did not matter. Reaper would do her job regardless.
She had grown useful to Leviathan in their time together. Reaper was never meant to be a leader, lacking the interest or dedication, but her lack of emotion opened her other senses, allowing her to catch glimpses into the spiritual world. The small shadowy she-cat sat beside Twig, her brilliant yellow eyes watching the sluggish sacrificial lamb with her standard blank gaze. "Calm, Twig," she spoke in her melodic yet clipped words, sensing the nerves that he emitted. "Let the confidence overtake the doubt entirely."
Twig nodded sullenly, glancing momentarily at Reaper before turning his eyes back to their sacrifice. He wrapped his tail snugly around his paws, giving his rapt attention now to Leviathan. He wanted to prove that taking him on was a good choice. That he would be just as useful as the grown cats around them. Tonight was the night he made that happen. He appreciated Reaper's words - they weren't soothing in a way that a mother might say them, but still, they brought a calm to his body, and his fear ebbed away. What was left was the awe and curiosity that had been mixed with it, shining in his golden gaze. Not a cloud covered the sky now, casting an eerie, silver glow down upon his brown tabby pelt from the starlight.

Yuki sat next to Reaper, a twist in her heart that didn't reach her eyes. Meeting Levi and the gang, following Selene, this was her new lease on life. Her second chance. But still, she knew she'd see the sacrifice's spirit. The last wishes would haunt her again. It had taken a lot of time for them to dull before, but this was like opening the wound all anew. Cause now she was seeing it and not just hearing of it after the face. Still, she held firm, forcing her nerves down.
Levee's gaze swept over his followers, there he found various reactions from assured to hesitance. For that he did not blame them. He had believed in Selene and followed her teaching as far back as he could remember, they were still rather knew to this, and were bound to have doubts. That's what he was there for. To show them her blessings. He couldn't help the smug grin that split his features as he moved to stand over the sedated cat that lay before them. He hoped to make this experience memorable for them but, in truth it would be more like a test of wills. It would not be a pretty sight, but they had to remember they where doing this in Selene's name. Spilling the blood of the willing so that she may draw strength from their life and return to them.
"Our Goddess, May you hear this prayer as we prepare to deliver this cat unto you.
May their blood and their flesh give you strength so that you shine your light upon us once more.
Let this be your will and let us atone for the wickedness we have committed in your name.
As We follow your will even in the absent of your light we know you are with us still."
As he ended the prayer He turned the sleeping cat's head so that he was facing up, exposing his throat. In the last fleeting moments of light, Levee could see the glazed look in the cat's eyes, he was waking up but, It was too late, he couldn't move even as he stared his fate in the eyes. He didn't even have time to be afraid as The black and white tom sunk his teeth deep into the sacrifice's throat. It was over in one quick movement, a jerk of his head and his throat was gushing blood, all the cat could do was let out a frantic gasp that was cut short as he choked on his own blood. Leviathan couldn't look away, even as the blood stained the grass, pouring over the offerings of prey he and his followers spent most of the day collecting for Selene. No Levee had to watch as the light left the cats eyes. His blood painted his muzzle and his paws and the tom made no move to try to clean it off.
"All I do, I do in your name." He said softly to himself.

"All we do, in your name." Yuki and Abaddon's heads bowed as Levee finished the sacrifice. It was a grisly sight, Abaddon was used to it. Now finding herself scanning the cats around them and the shadows for any surprise movement. Yuki wasn't used to the brutality, but she only let a single shiver crawl up her spine. She couldn't back down.
Twig's body flinched, but it was only the slightest movement, hardly noticed, perhaps apart from Reaper, who was right beside him. His mouth was dry, his eyes wide, and yet it was not fear the rested in their golden depths. "All we do, in your name," he whispered, following the other grown cats around him. His heart, which he thought would be racing, was calm, beating in a smooth, even rhythm. A warmth spread through his body, from the tips of his ears to the end of his tail. He stared at the sacrifice, the blood slowly pulsing from his neck now, flooding the grass at Leviathan's paws. He studied the tom's eyes, fear frozen there. Why didn't the sacrifice understand that it was all for Selene? Twig wouldn't have been afraid. He would know that he had been on his way to meet her.
Reaper inclined her head, echoing the words that the others were, watching with faint intrigue as the redness of blood pooled and widened across the ground. It had been a clean, quick kill, which she could appreciate. She was well versed in killing, but she had never been inclined to excess violence. Get the job done. Leviathan had certainly done that. She had noticed the flinches of others, but they didn't bother her. They were young and inexperienced, but they would soon be accepting of the rituals needed to satisfy Selene. Besides, they seemed to get over their initial fright quickly. "That was well spoken, Leviathan. And, pardon my pun, well executed."
"My lady, that one is for you! Ha! I hope that one's more entertaining on the other side than he was on this one!" Blitzen wasn't one to say silly chants or bow his head in prayer. He had a hard time paying attention to any of this frilly, girly stuff. He would have much rather the sacrifice had had a proper fight and died like a true warrior. The gray tom stretched to his feet and yawned, "Is that all?"
"OI LEVEE! Are we done!" Blitzen raised his voice just as the spreading blood reached his right paw. Instead if stepping away, he leaned toward it, fully submerging both of his massive gray paws. Its warmth was very satisfying, as was that ooey-gooey feeling of blood between his toes. Blitz wasn't the most established murderer but he had been in his fair share of fights. He usually won. So blood = victory, it was deeply pleasing for him, not unlike how Pavlov's doggies drool when someone rings the bell.
Visi glared over at Blitzen. His attitude and overall behavior was simply disgraceful to the Goddess. If he had his choice there would be severe punishments for those who did not proper honor the ceremonies. However there had to be some sort of order to their group and so he just gritted his teeth. This is what happened when one picked up just anyone. Perhaps Blitzen did believe in Selene, though he certainly did not treat her right.
