It had been a while since he'd returned to the abandoned boat house. It's twolegs long gone, leaving only their dillapidated water monster sitting in the covered dock, bobbing in the water.
Fortunately the mice were still plentiful and in the twoleg nest portion still plenty clothes and other stuff to be used for warm safe nests.
Undertow helped Gardenia settle Xuxa onto one of those cloth coverings.
"There," The black tom meowed straightening up as he looked around, "We can rest here for a day or two to let everything blow over, then we can check around and see if we can slip back into the regime without anyone realizing what had happened."
He made his way over to the covered dock, the wood warped but still stable enough beneath his paws. The other part of the boat house looking a bit worn down and abandoned but still stable and capable of keeping the elements out.
