Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Tatteredraven stretched her legs as she slipped out of the warriors den, her mouth opened wide in a yawn and sleep still glazing her eyes. She was an Aurulent now and because of that she had started to wake up earlier than normal, taking on more responsibilities and continuing to do the things she had done prior to her promotion, like visiting the nursery. Today though, she had different plans for the morning, she wanted to get out and stretch her legs, and so as she drew closer to the camps entrance she let her gaze wonder the clearing for a possible companion.
"Hey, Tatteredraven!" Poisonrush called out to the she-cat. Realizing how loud he was, he winced and gave a small as he padded toward her. "Where are you off to this morning? Oh and congratulations on the promotion by the way." It was still early in the morning so it was a rarity to see someone awake at this hour.
She paused in her slow walk as she was greeted by one of her fellow Aurulents, a smile spreading across her mouth. "Good morning Poisonrush, thank you, I was just heading out to stretch my legs a little before the day truly started, I've found it helps to wake me up and get me going." One could argue she didn't need to do it, already plenty awake and ready but it had become part of her day and she enjoyed it. "Would you like to join me? If you don't mind a little run that is." She gave the tom a cheeky smile, her paws tapping lightly on the earth.
"A run, you say" he said excitedly, bouncing up and down, "That sounds like my kind of morning!" Wincing again, he said more quietly, "Sorry, it just not often that someone else is up this early. And willing to exercise at that." He looked toward the camp entrance before turning back to her. "How about we make it a race?" he suggested playfully.
Her smile widened at the toms excitement, her own growing at the idea of a race. "I haven't raced anyone since I was younger, I'm in!" She happily agreed, her paws continuing to move slightly. "Where do you want to race to?" She began to think of all the places they could run to, the obstacles and turns.
He shrugged. "Oh I dont know. That's up to you," he replied laughing. "Just know that I'll get there before you!" His tail flicked in excitement. "Oh while we're out, we should probably catch prey on the way back in." He paused for a moment, then his eyes flashed with an idea. Ooh, that's not a bad idea he thought. "How about this, we make it even more of a competition?"
Poisonrushs' next words greatly peaked her interest, she was always down for a higher level of competition. "What did you just think of and why am I already excited for it?" She giggled happily.
He gave her a toothy grin. "Okay, here is my idea. Since we'll already be out, we can hunt. BUT the loser has to carry everything we find back to camp. How's that for a little incentive?" he asked, proud of his idea.
A purr rumbled in her chest at the added motivation and difficulty to the task and she nodded. "I love it! Dont think I'm gonna go easy on you though." She stretched her long legs and smiled, running had always been something she was good at because of her longer limbs and poison poisonrush's addition only fueled her into pushing harder.
His smile widened and he laughed. "Oh, I don't expect it to be easy for me, but I hope you dont expect an easy win here!" Finally, some solid competition. "On what mark do you want to go?" he asked as he stretched his legs. He looked her over. Her longer legs were definitely an advantage but he was definitely not going to lose to her.
The black and white she-cat looked at the camp entrance in thought, wondering which part of the territory would be the perfect finish line for their race when it hit her. "What about the abandoned windmill?" She suggested with bright eyes, it wasn't too close but would make for a great workout trying to get to it.
He nodded quickly. "That works for me! Are you ready?" he asked as he got into a crouching stance, ready to launch himself forward. This should be a cinch. It's not too far off from where I normally run at least, he thought. "This will too easy," he said with a grin
Tatteredraven crouched down as well, preparing to launch forward when he gave the word. "Don't start celebrating just yet Poisonrush, it wont be as easy as you think." She would make sure of that. "I'm ready when you are."She purred, adrenaline coursing through her body.
Poisonrush chuckled. "Ha! We will see, Tatteredraven, we will see," he mowed back. Quickly scanning his surroundings, he looked for the best route to their final destination. His eyes briefly flashed once he found it his grin widened more. Glancing at his competitor he said, "Here we go! Ready...set...go!" He unsheathed his back claws briefly to get better traction and bolted forward.
She waited, ready to begin, her muscles tight as she prepared to propel herself foward on his word and the it came. As she pushed off, her legs and body extended to it's full length and sending her over a decent amount of space before her paws touched the earth again. "See you at the finish line!" She called out with a smile as she continued to run.
"No, I'll see you at the finish line!" he said as he grit his teeth and followed close behind her. Pushing himself further, he tailed her. Control your breathing and you'll be fine. he thought to himself as he ran.
(Time skip? I'm willing to take the L on this one)
Tatteredraven smiled as the wind buffeted her face, it was such a freeing feeling, running with nothing to hold her back, knowing that when she reached her destination she would not be reaching it alone this time. "Come on Poisonrush! Not much further." She called knowing that they had covered a lot of ground and that the old windmill would be in view at any moment, and she was right. She turned her head back to see him close behind her and as she turned back again the large structure was looming ahead and so she pushed harder, her sides heaving as her lungs struggled to keep up for the last stretch.
She didnt slow her pace until she was too close, skidding across the ground, her paws leaving small ruts in the earth until finally she stopped moving. She took in a deep breath and exhaled, lifting her eyes to see the tabby tom coming up shortly after. "What... a rush." She panted with a smile, all thoughts of the competition they had made gone from her mind.
Danggit. His lungs feeling like they were going to explode at any moment, he pushed on, tailing close behind Tatteredraven. It's her long legs. It has to be. If he would have raced any other cat, he surely would have won. Or, and he would hate to admit it, hes gotten out of shape. With the sight of the windmill sitting just ahead, he shook the thoughts from his head and continued.
Seeing as Tatteredraven had gotten to the end location first, he came to a slow trot before stopping, collapsing to the ground, breathing deeply. Although he lost, he took this as a learning lesson with a smile. "Hey...congrats...on that," he complimented in between breaths.
The thin she-cat walked up to where the tom had collapsed, her breathing still uneven and short and sat down. "You did amazing too, you almost had me." She let out a sigh and looked up at the open sky for a moment. "We should do this more often, you may even beat me one of these days." She purred jokingly, giving Poisonrush a wink.
"Heh...I'll definitely get you the next time," he assured as his breath finally began to slow down. Soaking in the warmth of the sun, he closed his eyes. A thought then crossed his mind. "What made you want to try out for the Aurulent, Tatteredraven?" he said as he opened his eyes and looked up at the she-cat.
