Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The last two days had been a whirlwind for Bee, now Beedust. After her emotional reunion with Thistlestar, they had gone back to camp, where Bee had reintroduced to the clan and sent to rest. Several long days of traveling had taken a toll on her physically, and she slept through the afternoon and night, waking the following morning. She had felt the urge to give back to the clan, so she'd immediately gone hunting, to hone her best skill. She'd received her warrior name that night, signifying her full acceptance of the clan and its ways.
She'd wanted to speak to Thistlestar outside the ceremony, but he had been pulled away on some important leadership task, and Beedust had chatted with a few apprentices about her travels. When he'd returned, her bravado failed her and she escaped to the warriors den. Things were strange between them at the moment. Beedust knew what she wanted with him, but she didn't feel right about jumping right into a relationship with the leader after her return. So here they hung, between their mutual confession of love and their inevitable, eventual relationship. For the moment, she wanted to keep things quiet, but that didn't mean she didn't want to see him.
Torn between wanting to talk to him and wanting to avoid looking like a leader's favorite, Beedust spent the next afternoon dozing out in the open after her hunting patrol, putting herself in view of Thistlestar in case he had the time and desire to see her.
The last two days had begun to test Thistlestar's patience. It was only a short time the two had time to themselves coming back to camp for the first time, but since then, their paths rarely crossed and when it did, Beedust made an effort to maintain space. The mindset confused Thistlestar initially. For so long he searched for her, waited for her to come home. Every fiber in his being wanted to be with her at all times and now that she was here, she wanted space to prove herself. After some time, Thistlestar came to understand the she-cat's intentions, but it didn't mean he was wholesomely happy about it.
The leader stepped into camp, his usual straight posture was slightly bent forward as he made his way into camp. The following days were busier than the leader had anticipated. With the prophecy of the clans demises haunting the clan, Thistlestar fought hard to keep morale up and keep his clan mates busy. Luckily, prey was beginning to grow sparse in Springclan, giving everyone in camp something to keep their mind partially off the impending doom. Even he found himself worried about the prophecy, but he wouldn't dare vocalize that to his clan mates. The additional hunting patrols definitely helped keep the leader's mind off of things, but man was it tiring.
The leader gaze scanned the camp instinctively, taking in the cats in the field before finding the welcoming sight of Bee. His ears perked up in content, her stern face softening as he made his way over to her, at first a little too fast, but he caught himself, slowing himself as he neared her. "Beedust." He spoke up, carefully at first, unsure if she would be more open today than she had been prior.
Beedust perked up as he approached, pleased to see him. She felt a little bad about how little they had spoken since she had rejoined, but her own emotions confused her greatly. She longed to be around him just as keenly as he felt about her, but there was also a deep, burning desire to spread out her roots. She wanted to belong in Springclan as a whole, not just with Thistlestar. She didn't want to give off the appearance that she had come back just to be with a tom.
However, the desire to speak to him was too strong to resist now. "Thistlestar," she greeted him warmly in return, climbing to her feet and sinking into a stretch. "It's been too long. It's really good to see you again." Since they were still in public, she suppressed her desire to repeat the phrase she had told him a few days prior. Now was not the time to drop the l-bomb, even if she wanted to. "Are you free right now?"
Noting the warm exchange, Thistlestar couldn't help but smile, breaking the serious mold splayed across his expression. "I'm sorry, it has been." He admitted sheepishly, watching the she-cat thoughtfully. She looked comfortable in Springclan which gave the tom some relief. He had been worried on how she had been acclimating back into Clan life during their time apart, but everything looked to be good as her body language would suggest.
"Anytime you ask, yes." He responded without hesitation, his words firm with more confidence than he can muster. He realized too late after he spoke how forward his words were. He cleared his throat, embarrassment making his pelt grow warm. "Would you join me for a walk?" He asked quickly, in hopes of burying his previous words and moving on.
The smile that Thistlestar gave her made her heart turn in her chest, her own smile mirroring his automatically. "A walk sounds great," Beedust said, standing and sinking into a deep stretch before starting towards the camp exit. She started in the direction of the Stone Path, a place she hadn't visited since her return but one she still longed to see. Besides, it would be private, a good place for them to talk.
Beedust waited until they were out of earshot of the others before clearing her throat to speak. "I missed you. How are you doing?" Her voice was less guarded, her tone more warm and affectionate than it had been inside the camp. In private, there was no need to worry about what others thought of her and Thistlestar. It was just the two of them, and her love could more freely flow.
Thistlestar followed calmly, though excitement sped quickly throughout his body like the speed of a hummingbird's wings. As the two went on in the direction of Stone Path, the leader couldn't help but wonder what was on Bee's mind. He hoped his busyness had not made her feel unimportant or discouraged of their relationship, it was the last thing he ever wanted her to feel. At the thought of the word "relationship", he could feel his pelt grow warm. This was new emotions for him. He had never felt so flustered and unsure of himself around anyone, it was frustrating but exciting at the same time.
At Bee's words, Thistlestar couldn't stop a breathy laugh of relief to escape him. He had been worried for nothing. "I missed you too." He spoke quietly, his words soft as he took in Bee's warm expression with clear content across his own expression. He took a moment to think about his answer, not wanting to hold back from Beedust, but in doing so, he felt that invisible weight of responsibly grow heavy on his shoulder's causing his happy expression to fall slightly. "A lot has happened while you were gone." He spoke strategically, suddenly not wanting to speak on his own personal thoughts on the many matters that popped into his head. "I'm sorry I've been so busy."
"I expected it. You're the big boss now," she said lightly, sensing the troubled aspect behind his tone. She pressed into his shoulder, which was higher than hers, as they walked to offer him a bit of comfort. The Stone Path came into view head of them, surrounded by the dormant cherry trees. Beedust had heard of their beauty in bloom, and wished time would speed up so she could see them for herself.
"Tell me about what I missed," Beedust said, wanting to be caught up to speed with what he was going through. She knew the general information from her clanmates, but Thistlestar had to bear the weight of responsibility, and she wanted to help him shoulder that burden. Again, a wave of guilt hit her, even though she couldn't have known how much he would go through after she left. She still wished she could have been here- maybe he wouldn't look so sad if she had been.
At the she-cat's touch, Thistlestar sighed in relief. There was great comfort in the simple but powerful gesture. Being naturally reserved, the leader rarely welcomed such gestures. It was an odd feeling as he was never used to such affectionate gestures. His mother, though caring in her unique ways, she was stern and and unapologetic in her ways. As much as he was unused to the affection, he found it surprisingly comforting. He leaned back into Beedust gently in silent gratitude, his gaze trailing off slowly before to spoke again "Big boss." He laughed a breathy laugh. It was a funny phrase and one he had yet to hear.
"We received a prophecy from Starclan." He started wearily, the little content faded from his voice as a the seriousness of the topic grew with each passing word. "Unfathomable darkness follows the 10 clans that, bound to desecration. Vanquish the flood of evil or dawns light will be an era of shadows." He recited carefully. "There were 3 additional clans prior to you joining Springclan, Earthclan, Waterclan and Brookclan, all lost to a devastating flood that destroyed their lands and forced them out." The reminder rendered the leader quiet for a few moments before he continued "The leaders and I fear the same fate for the rest of us; we sent scouts to find where the source could be and found the location. Fawnheart and Softpelt have already gone ahead to help with medical aid if needed, I will be leaving with a group of our warriors soon to help redirect the flood away from the direction of our clans."
OOC: So I think this would be perfect timing to set this thread right before the Fight with the Shadow Era, which is a major plot that just ended. If you aren't aware, the summary is this, a group of cats secretly or not so secretly have gathered to encourage the floods for a new start. Those who were fighting to stop the floods named themselves Novaclan and when they discovered the location of the potential flood, they were met with the Shadow Era cats who fought to stop the clans from stopping the floods. Depending on how the overhaul vote would go would be the direction of the plot. Since the marjority chose to keep the clans the way they are, the flood was stopped by Novaclan.
"A prophecy," Beedust echoed, following the rest of the story with rapt attention. "I knew about the flood, but I didn't know how involved this all was. That's... a lot." Her words failed her for once; all of this was so past her comfort zone, with talks of evil and floods of rapture and the dissolution of groups. For a moment she caught a glimpse of Thistlestar's world and his duties, and it far outweighed anything she had ever faced. Her wishes of cherry blossoms seemed so... whimsical, now.
"I'm here for you. However you need me to be," was all she could offer, sitting and reaching up to rub her cheek against his. Beedust hardly considered herself a mushy cat, but with Thistlestar her affection came effortlessly. After moons apart she had a deep need to touch him, even something as simple as twining tails. In public she could restrain herself, but out here among the trees, there was only one thing she wanted, which was just to be with Thistlestar.
All Thistlestar could do was stay silent. He didn't want to admit it, he was scared. He first hand saw the after-mass of the destruction the flood brought to the Survival Clans. Springclan themselves housed many of the survivors. To see the helplessness and consistent hopelessness for the survival of their loved ones was difficult for the leader to see, he couldn't bare the thought of the same look on his own clanmates if they were to share the same fate. His green orbs met's Beedust's own with quiet concern. The weight of this mission was heavy on the leader's shoulder, but with Bee returning back to Springclan, he almost felt near desperate to for hope. He couldn't bare the thought of losing Bee again...
Thistlestar pressed hard against Bee's cheek, deeply inhaling the she-cat's sweet and comforting scent. He couldn't help but smile in relief. Alone, he knew he could handle the stress. His capabilities were far and vast, but it felt nice not to carry the full burden himself. "Thank you Bee..." He purred quietly, finding the strength to once again look into Bee's eyes. "I need you..." He started, his voice shaky as he fought to push out the words " I need you to be here." His expression grew serious and stern "I have fate that Starclan has no forsaken us, but if they have, I want you to have a head start to get yourself and the other's safe." As if like a switch had been turned, the leader's mind put aside the emotions and flipped to strategic thinking. " I want a patrol of our fastest cats at the border to look out for an incoming flood; if they do I need you in camp already ready with the rest of the clan to prepare for the evacuations." Everything, down to details were planned. The leader had late nights of of worry to thank for that.
"I can do that," Beedust responded, letting her cheek rest on his strong shoulder. It was strange, to love a leader like this. She had spent most of her life following her own impulses, hunting and sleeping and sometimes talking to other cats in her group. Everything was different now. It was better, but it was foreign to her to think about helping prepare a group of her clanmates for an evacuation.
"You're so capable." The compliment came with a small chuckle, admiration for him clear in her tone. "I know I haven't said it since we reunited, but I love you. So much it's scary. I want you to be safe when you're out there, please. For me." She had no idea the danger involved, but the thought of losing him so soon after they were back together again made her heart turn. She closed her eyes, letting the feeling of him so close and present wash away her worries. "Please."
Hearing her quick acceptance only provided the Springclan leader more relief, the last weight on his shoulders melting off magically. He exhaled loudly, drooping forward in a rare moment of vulnerability. Despite his growing relationships in Springclan, there was always something in Thistlestar that would hold him back from baring all to his clanmates, but with Beedust, it was different. It could have been because was able to be himself around her when they first met because she had expectations of him, unknowing of his position in the clan. It also could have been because she came from a different world than he. Or simply because she just had a way of knowing how to approach him so naturally. What ever he was, he knew easily he was hooked to the ginger she-cat.
Thistlestar's tattered ear flickered at the she-cat's praises and he couldn't stop the waves of hot embarrassment that radiated throughout his body. He looked down at her thoughtfully, his eyes brightening as her words progressed, his heart racing as her concerns jabbed at him in a painful yet filling way. Her worries touched him and he couldn't stop the smile on his expression from growing ever so slightly, but the seriousness of the situation kept him from floating in the air with glee. "Of course." His words were hushed but firm. "I have you to come back to..." There was confidence in his words, but still a pang of fear still gripped at his chest, though it was smaller than before. Knowing Beedust had faith in him aided the growth of his courage.
(Sorry love for the late reply! This past week was a trip ')
"I'll always be here for you to come back to," Beedust purred, pressing into his shoulder to draw comfort from his warmth. She kept her eyes closed, trying to draw strength from the moment for whatever the future held. She was glad that her future was here, beside Thistlestar, privately now and publicly one day in the future. It was more than she had ever expected for her life, and it had come sooner than she could have hoped for.
(do you want to end it here and move to thread where Bee reveals the pregnancy? ;w;)
