Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The finch basked in the rays of light streaming through the clearing, sending tiny dropelts of water arcing through the air as it splashed in the puddle on the ground. It was an unusually sunny day for the middle of leafbare, and Peachblush was determined to make the most of it. He eyed the finch warily, silently apologising for the life he was about to cut short. With a slight scrape of paws on grass, he leapt forward, teeth bared and claws unsheathed...
...And missed, not entirely to his surprise. The finch made a strange cry of fear and flapped its wings, soaring away from him before he could sink its claws into it. He straightened slowly, watching as the finch landed on a tree branch that towered high, high above the ground. Much higher than he was going to risk climbing, he realised with a short sigh. ...This is becoming an increasingly common occurrence for me.
( okay yeah this ended really abruptly but i didnt wanna write a short novel lmao )

It wasn't her intention to watch this little failure. But it was far too sunny for Goldenphantom to spend it curled up in the Keeper's Mansion. A good chunk of warriors were out trying to stock out with this nice weather. It'd only be a short matter of time before everything went back to sleep. The tall golden she-cat could only watch the finch fly away, in the opposite direction of her. As much as a part of her figured she should scold him lightly, Goldenphantom knew what it was like to be unable to focus on hunting. After Kasdeya's death, she could barely get out of bed, let alone function.
"Something bothering you?" She stepped out of the underbrush, a little behind Peachblush. There was no way she could let an issue like this lie, and not just because she was a little nosy.
( i finally show up just as the overhaul vote happens )
Peachblush turned his head to look at the intruder - Clanmate, he corrected himself. Goldenphantom. He knew of her like he did most cats in DayClan, but they'd never talked. Again, like most cats in DayClan. The finch chirped on irritatingly high above the two of them, and Peachblush decided to give talking to the she-cat a shot, even if it was only to drown out the sounds of his failure.
"What gave it away?" he asked. He tried to keep his tone light, but sensed that he'd probably failed. He wrapped his tail neatly around his paws and let out an exasperated sigh, hanging his head just enough that he wasn't looking Goldenphantom quite in the eyes. "Sorry. I lost all my social graces along with my hunting skills, evidently. I've just...been frustrated. For some time now."

"Hm that's okay." Goldenphantom looked up at the finch above them briefly before returning her gaze to Peachblush. She knew of him, she had to because of her position, but didn't really know anything about him. The smell on him originally reminded her of the League, but different. Nowadays, it was so Dayclan she couldn't place it from before. "What happened? If you don't mind me asking."
Peachblush wasn't so self-absorbed to think that every cat in the forest knew his history, but it was still vaguely surprising to him that there were cats in the Clan that weren't silently judging him twenty-four seven. The selfish part of him was grateful that his reputation seemed mostly intact, but there was still a nagging voice inside his brain telling him that it deserved to be destroyed, that everyone deserved to know what he did. It didn't feel like a lie.
He realised he'd been silent for just a few moments too long, and let out a nervous laugh, gaze still not quite meeting Goldenphantom's. "It's a long story," he said, cringing as the words left his mouth. As if that isn't the most cliche phrase in the book. "I was leader of two separate groups in the span of a year, and I ditched them both due to nothing but my own...neuroses. Which are still going on, apparently." He spared a final glance at the finch he'd failed to catch, watching as it flew away and out of sight. "That's the short version, anyway."

"Hmm." Now that he mentioned it, it sounded vaguely familiar. But Goldenphantom had been so wrapped up in Dayclan happenings, they never stuck in her mind. Still, she couldn't imagine getting the chance to lead not once but twice, and leaving it both times. Though he clearly felt bad about it, enough to where it bothered him at the quiet times. So he couldn't be all bad. "It hasn't been that long, so it makes sense if thinking about it still hurts." Even Goldenphantom knew. She still stiffened up when she even smelled a fox.
