Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Mudheart ran at a swift pace over the well used paths of the forest, she didn't really know where she was heading yet, she let her paws decide where to go, running gave her a feeling of freedom that she found she quite enjoyed. The sleek brown she-cat had an energetic streak, some seemed not to mind it, others however, found her too high strung to want to be around for long periods of time. She slowed once she reached the stream, taking some time to admire her favorite part of the territory, while deciding where to head next.
The stream was a comfort to Diamondcascade too, if not for a different reason. Years of being a wanderer had left her with the one good token of advice: always follow the rivers. It was an easy way of finding food and water, and more often than not, it lead to at least slightly hospitable places. It was, in fact, how she'd came across Moonclan itself. Quietly, the she cat had decided to gather moss, quietly using her claws to snip and slice chunks off big enough to absorb enough water to satiate the thirst of elders or of a few kits too young to leave camp. She only slightly took notice of Mudheart as she bounded near the water's edge, acknowledging her presence only in the fact that she tried extra hard to be quiet and go unnoticed, hoping the other warrior would be as adverse to a social encounter as she was.
Mudheart's bright green gaze scanned the territory some more before finally landing on Diamondcascade, she studied the she-cat for a few moments, wondering why for a few moments why a warrior was collecting moss, it was usually an apprentice job. She decided to approach the she-cat. "Would you like some help?" She offered, it was the only thing she really thought of to say off the top of her head.
Sometimes she wondered if she just had a naturally approachable appearance, or if all cats in the clan were just that sociable. She supposed either way it should have been considered a good thing. Appearing friendly should have been a compliment, and she supposed she'd rather be around others that were friendly than around cats that were cold or even cruel to her, but sometimes how she wished that either she could just magically gain invisibility, or that her clan-mates would magically turn super introverted.
At Mudheart's offer, she hesitated. The answer on her lips and the answer she desperately wanted to give was that, no, she didn't want help, and she was perfectly happy preforming a mindless task that kept her occupied all alone. But turning down people had never been something she was good at. Not because she was particularly nice, but more because she had never found a graceful way of telling someone she didn't need help. Still, she tried desperately to think of a nice way of sending the other warrior away, but nothing could come to her mind. With a deep mental sigh, she finally relented to her own social awkwardness. "S-sure, if you're not too busy." She replied with a quiet mumble, emotionally defeated by her own self.
Mudheart shrugged in response. "My work is done for the day, I was just out enjoying a run." She responded with a small smile. Mudheart had never had an interaction with Diamondcascade before now and she knew the she-cat was new to the Clan. "Where did you live before you came to MoonClan?" She asked curiously, hoping the she-cat didn't mind the question. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want too! I'm a little too nosy sometimes!" She added quickly.
"Er, it's fine, it's not, uh, really a secret." She explained quietly, not bothering to make eye contact as she carefully cut strips of fresh moss carpeting a rather large rock, though with the water having smoothed out it's rougher edges the rock was akin to an oversize pebble. "I didn't really live anywhere before I came here. I use to just, kind of... travel, I guess. I was, uh, sort of a nomad." It was the best way of explaining her life before hand. Or at least, the most recent moments in her life.
She then figured, as to not create an awkward lull in the conversation, she should ask the other she cat a question too. "So, um... Have you life in Moonclan your entire life?" She asked, before taking the chunk of moss she cut and dipping it into the cool moving water of the stream before her.
"I wasn't born in MoonClan," Mudheart replied, pulling a strip of moss off of the rock and placing it on the ground beside her. "But I was brought here when I was just a kit, I don't remember life outside of the Clan." she added. "I wish I knew who my family was, but I've accepted the fact that I'll never know and I'm happy with my Clanmates as my family." She meowed with a shrug. "But I envy the fact that you were able to travel, you must have seen some pretty cool parts of the forest. Truthfully I've only been outside MoonClan border's once since I was brought here. It's like I live my life in a sort of box."
Diamondcascade nodded along with Mudheart's own tale and history, seeming sympathetic. She herself had been lucky enough to know exactly where she came from, and to have had a relatively normal childhood. Most of it, anyways. It was only at the mention of "traveling the forest" that the calico she cat seemed to be a bit embarrassed. "Ah- Uh, actually, this is really the first time I've been in the forest for any period of time. I, um, actually use to live in the city. The forest is still kind of foreign to me. I think seeing some parts of the forest would be interesting but, um, don't take this the wrong way but... Maybe it was best you've never traveled outside of Moonclan? At least, maybe best you didn't ever have to see somewhere like the city, I mean." Diamondcascade sputtered out the words akwardly. There was probably a good, gentle, and eloquent way of saying and making the same points as she just did, but Diamondcascade had managed to speak it in probably the least elegant manner possible.
"I've heard tales of the city, horrible one's of course, but I've never met anyone who lived there!" She responded. "But truthfully I'd never go that close to where two legs live, I'd much prefer to explore the forest that no Clan has laid claim to, the land we Clan cat's call the rogue lands. I always imagined that there would be some really nice places that we haven't discovered yet, you know?" she said thoughtfully, tearing off another piece of moss and placing it in her pile. "But if you're from the city then what prompted you to come and live in the forest?" she asked, hoping it wasn't too personal of a question, but the sleek brown she-cat was curious nonetheless.
"I've, uh, seen some of the land outside the clans when I first got. It was nice out there, and I saw I couple loners who seemed friendly..." She explained quietly, recalling her brief time passing through the relatively foreign patch of land. "I imagine there are probably some interesting things out there, if you bothered to explore further." She agreed, also cutting another patch of moss. At the question about the city, however, Diamondcascade hesitated. It was hard to read her expression, but what was noticeable was a clear uncomfortableness that around at the question. She was silent for a moment, before slowly and rather thoughtfully giving her answer. "The city is fine, if you know where to live. Well-uh- um... Not really fine, but kind of safe. But, it gets dangerous out there, really dangerous if you're not careful. So, I um, finally got done with trying to avoid fate and just, uh, tried to find somewhere nicer to settled down. Then I heard the forest was nice and I, well, I just decided to come here.... That's really just the long and short of it." Despite the attempt at casually ending her ramble, it was clear the calico she cat was deliberately avoiding a straight answer with the other warrior.
