Bright eyed and bushy tailed, Burningkit had made it about a week without having to eat any herbs. Truly an accomplishment, of how sneaky he was getting. At first, it was so hard to get past the all seeing eyes of his parents. While at times, they seemed to just catch him randomly, he had changed his strategy. Becoming more and more chaotic with his movements and plans. Maybe he was a lost cause at this rate, but that also meant he won so he would be content with that. While full of energy, he had been practicing climbing trees. A truly necessary skill for a rogue like him, especially here in autumn where his bright orange fur melted together with the falling leaves. He had taken a break and bounced around in a pile of leaves, flinging them everywhere without a care in the world.
There was only so much Burningkit could avoid his parents. Of course, today was not the day he met up with his mother. Rather, Castawaykit had seemed to happen upon his brother, the young ball of fluff with his 'pirate scarf' as he liked to call it almost dwarfed by his fur. He bounced lightly on his paws towards his littermate, carelessly tapping away at the leaves launched into the air by Burningkit. "Having fun, are we?"

Most of Burningkit's siblings were downers, the kind that were too high up on their high horses and would stare down at you like scum. He couldn't say if Castawaykit was the same, but each tended to go along with the other's schemes and that was enough for him. So when he heard the lilting voice of him, the orange kit popped out of his pile and bounded towards him. Though looking at his brother's pirate scarf made him miss his little pink bow. Surely shredded up somewhere, he was sure. "Hey Castawaykit!" Burning was nothing if not bouncy, rebounding like it was nothing, "Of course. What'cha up to out here?"
"Got bored, don't have anyone to sail with. So, I thought I'd hang out with my favorite fellow god." Riverwolf did like to tell them they were deities while also insisting he was, and that thought had rubbed off on Castawaykit. They were lesser deities than the Sun God, but even with that thought in mind, the little tom did like the idea. After all, why would cats be so avoidant of them if not for terror of their abilities.

"Aww, that's a shame. Everyone has to be such a debbie downer, huh?" If Burning could have laid on the leaves like a king of the forest, he would have. Instead, he slipped through, only his little orange head poking out, "For gods, I wish they were a little more optimistic, you know?" Burning didn't know what each of them were gods of, but he figured Castaway would be like a God of the Waves. Calm and quiet or rocky and vivacious. Burning was now more of a demi-god, one kicked out of Olympus and a god of rebellion.

"Hard to be optimists when it gets paralyzed out of you after a certain point." He commented wryly. Every disobedience had always been met with swift retribution, their freedom and spoils coming at the cost of unconditional loyalty and obedience without hesitation. Poisons, paralytics, and verbal manipulation tactics twisted the children into little soldiers meant to believe their parents loved them and that this was all for the best. In a way, it worked. Castawaykit certainly had no intentions of leaving the fold anytime soon, though he had a bit of a self-important attitude and treated those around him besides his own family as little more than annoying pests. Disposable and needing to be taken down pegs from some of their own attitudes. But his siblings had always been his equals, neither the coercive authorities their parents were, and more than the mortal creatures beneath them.

"Yeah, really." Burning was familiar enough with the retribution that was dealt out. He had more scars than possessions. It never felt like the best, it just made him more frustrated which led to this, another outing and counting. Leaving has crossed his mind constantly, but where would he go? What could he do? Would he be loved as much there as he was here? Life was truly a gilded cage for the little gods. The orange tom batted at a leaf, only able to push the troubling thoughts out briefly. "Well, may as well enjoy the time out here before they really give it to us, huh?"
