Amber eyes were blinded by the early morning sun reflecting off the wet asphalt. An autumn storm had showered the land last night, and worms desperately climbed out of the earth for no reason they could see. While she was sure most of the Dayclan warriors were still sleeping or trying to get in some early breakfast, one had made her way to the thunderbeasts building that was nearby. She had come here as an apprentice to bring back twoleg food for the kittypets, and today she was here for the same reason. But the thunderbeasts trickled in and twolegs stuck strings into them. She was more distracted by the myriad of frogs who hopped along the asphalt, supposedly happy just because of the rainfall. Goldenphantom founds herself picking them up and taking them back to the grass edge, whispering little "No. No. Froggies. Don't do that." to them only for them to hop back out again. She wasn't invested at first, but after seeing one get crushed by a thunderbeast, she couldn't let another one suffer the same fate.
Nikko had been walking away from his... Camp he supposed he could call it when he came up upon Goldenphantom, "Are you okay?" He asked before remembering he didn't care. He had a vacant stare in his eyes, dead and hollow.
Suddenly springing from the backdrop was Sweetiepaw who swerved between Goldenphantom and Nikko, "GET OUT OF MY IMMORTAL COUNCIL MEMBERS PRETTY LINE OF VISION YOU LEAGUE... LEAGUE... MEANIE HEAD!" She screamed at him, which immediately made the apprentice aged tom back up.
"Let her hunt her frogs! Or... Whatever she's doing," Sweetiepaw hissed.

Goldenphantom didn't know what was stranger. Her little chore in saving the frogs, a mystery white tom confronting her or Sweetiepaw suddenly jumping to her defense. Even the faint mention of the League made her damp pelt stand on end. She opened her mouth to say something, dropping a frog that scrambled away from her. The golden tabby suddenly stopped and began herding the frogs back to the grass again. No doubt the twolegs that came in would understand the scene even less.
Finally, when most of the frogs were herded, she approached the two apprentices again. "What? Where did you two come from? Also saving frogs! I can't even imagine eating them."

This was far too much. What did she do to wind up in this madness? She still had no idea how they got here and only knew Sweetiepaw by proxy.
"First off dear. No. You don't want to die like these frogs. It's a very painful and slow way to go." Really, Golden's only frame of reference was seeing the dead animals next to the road. Overly gory scenes she didn't want to think about. Surely she would throw up.
"And secondly, why are you on Dayclan territory?" He wasn't an apprentice there, right? Right. Well, Sweetiepaw didn't treat him as one so she took her chances.
"He's probably a frog murderer!" Sweetiepaw accused.
"I prefer a fast death, but I'll take what I can get and I told you. I saw these frogs dying up and down the road and I got jealous. Why do they get to die and I can't? So I came over here until I got barked at by your little pooch companion over there," Nikkopaw said lazily.
Sweetiepaw snarled at Nikkopaw, apparently something about him rubbed her the wrong way.

What was Goldenphantom supposed to even do about this? Her gaze shifted from Sweetiepaw and back to Nikkopaw before landing on her own paws. Opening her mouth a few times, she closed it shortly after as she considered what to do. But one thing bugged her, a gnawing annoyance in her gut.
"I take it I won't be able to dissuade you from that thinking, huh?" Soft and light, she spoke, hiding a tinge of irritation from rising out, "but you're on Dayclan turf. And if you want to die here, you better do something for the living while you're still around." Not a Dayclan rule, but whatever. Golden needed to learn how to put her foot down, and if she was going to be stuck with these two, she may as well practice a bit, "So get to it. If I see another crushed frog, I'll make sure you suffer the same fate. Hop Hop."
Sweetiepaw was pretty sure Goldenphantom was talking to her and she didn't want to fail! Her marigold eyes searched around the streets at each individual frog. What did frogs like? How could she lure them off the road? BUGS. And lots of them!
"Aye aye miss immortal council woman!" Sweetiepaw said with a salute from her massive fluffy tail. Sweetiepaw ran off to go search for some bugs scraping up pieces of dirt and flipping logs over in a desperate effort to find any insects crawling around.
On the other hand Nikkopaw didn't care if Goldenphantom was talking to him or not, if he died like a frog then great, she should get on with that. He walked over into the road and began to shoo away the frogs before lying down in the middle of the street waiting for death to take him. After all maybe it would kill him on the first blow, he was a bit small even if his mom "claimed" He would get a growth spurt.

Goldenphantom held back a sigh. This was more to Nikkopaw than Sweetiepaw, but whatever. Whoever he was could just lay there and may get run over. She found herself tired, but also a hypocrite as a car drove by them and she didn't move to pull him out of the way. Less and less frogs were coming out onto the pavement and she felt some relief with that. The sun was coming out and beginning to warm everything up, so most of the frogs would hop back to their homes.
"Thank you Sweetiepaw, you're doing great." Goldenphantom said, turning to the apprentice. She felt a little silly not looking for bugs right away. She was clever. Turning to Nikkopaw, she asked him, "So, where are you from? And why do you want to die?"
