( Fox & Tempest )
It had been five seasons or so now since Foxstar had taken the reigns of SunClan. It had been just past a year to date since the fires had ravaged the territory and a mysterious tom that would later come to be known as the Sun God would save the highest ranks of the clan from certain death inside their gorge camp. And it had been longer still since Tempeststar had reigned, in a time where Mountainsound was still Medicine Cat, and Foxstar remained in exile as a member of DayClan under the name Foxdawn.
Mountainsound still lived. Tempeststar had moved to WaterClan as Tempestignite. And, by some unfortunate stroke of fate, the returned Foxdawn, now Foxhour, was chosen as deputy. Almost exactly a moon later, and Foxhour became Foxstar, the same day as her friend, Green, or Glowromance, as she had chosen for herself rose to DayClan's leader.
A lot had happened since the WaterClan Senior Warrior's time. SunClan was not longer what it had been. StarClan had been cast aside for the Sun God, and the clan had created their own code. Per Glowstar's words, they were a cult, one that the DayClan leader had been forced into herself, as Senator Strikhendoniadalisay, admittedly.
It was needless to say, High Priestess Foxstar preferred things as they were. After all, she was given near limitless power over her clan, had a leader under her paw, as much as anyone could control Green anyway, and her past had long since been brushed under the rug. The Janus, Soothsayers, and her Priestess Promised knew it, of course. But the rest of the clan? Most didn't, and the one cat, Daylight, who would go around telling cats about the past unprompted was long gone, and not stupid enough to show her face again after her and Deal's failed assassination attempt. The rest who knew were... of a more intelligent variety. They wouldn't lie, but they didn't just go around rehashing things without reason.
Maybe it was ironic, then, that this meeting had everything to do with the past. The painted Priestess hadn't yet crossed WaterClan's border, more out of not wanting to make an enemy of her brother-in-law, Emberstar, at this current moment than of any hesitation or care for other's territory. Foxstar was bored, at least for today, so she figured she'd check up on dear old Tempestignite and see how the former SunClan leader was doing. Mostly, this was for her own amusement, to see the reaction of a cat who knew her past seeing a leader, one with a blatant disregard for life and decency, in the place of the once kind clan the WaterClan cat had led, for however short a time.
Tempestignite was finally starting to feel at home. Many of the WaterClan cats didn't know (or care) that she had once, when she was much younger and inexperience, lead SunClan. She'd heard of her former clan's new ways and didn't know how she felt about it, but didn't really have anything to say. How could she? When she left her birthclan, she'd decided to start fresh. Nevermind that she had a few extra lives.
While she was just a kit when Narcissus had tried to take over SunClan, she remembered the cats that had sided with the Shadow Stalkers. She'd heard rumors that Foxdawn — excuse her, Foxhour — had been welcomed back to the clan and had risen to power until she was eventually Foxstar.
It made her uncomfortable to think of the traitorous she-cat as the leader of the clan she'd once tried to lead, on StarClan's order.
But, again, it wasn't her clan anymore so she didn't have to stare at the leader every time she was in the camp.
Lucky for her she'd left when Timberstar was the leader.
She was hunting when she caught the scent of a SunClan cat after a few more seconds she realised it was Foxhourstar and wondered what the she-cat was doing so far from her territory.
"Hello, Foxstar." Tempestignite greeted the leader with a slightly cold tone. She'd tried to leave her past in the past, why couldn't it just stay there? Why did it keep coming up and attacking her when life was at its calmest? Her tail gave an annoyed flick at her thoughts

Unfortunately, Foxstar wasn't exactly one of the cats who was just content to fade into the background. Tempestignite had left not too long after Foxstar had rejoined during Drizzlestar's time, and they never did have the chance for a heart to heart.
At the warrior's cold greeting, the Priestess smiled, her maw spreading wide with a smile that was anything but inviting. If there was one thing the fox-heart had been prior to attaining her title, it was a good actress. She was rather excellent at minimizing her faults and exaggerating... well, falsifying, her redeeming qualities. Since she'd been given her power, and ditched the annoying rules of StarClan, she'd become free to act as vicious as she pleased. And she most definitely took advantage of that. If anyone had wanted to look into her soul, in this moment, they'd have a full view.
Truly, there was nothing there. Behind the fox-furred skin and the pleasantries was a void darker than the deepest shadows of the Dark Forest. There was no hope of redemption there, no hints of morality or repentance for the atrocities she'd certainly committed. Only an evil creature masked by a veil of dangerous beauty.
"Greetings, Tempestignite. I see you've made yourself at home. How is Emberstar? Condorstrike's been missing him." Condorstrike had been in the clan when the former leader had joined, and had left when the heartless auburn feline had been deputy, for that brief moon before Starlingstar, and subsequently the rest of the leadership and medical staff, had disappeared seemingly overnight. Some cats still thought Foxstar had a paw in it.
Tempestignite eyed the SunClan leader distrustfully. What was Foxstar's endgame? What was her reason for asking about Emberstar when she clearly didn't care? It didn't make sense to her, and she didn't want to say anything to the fox-hearted leader. In fact, she almost turned on the shecat before deciding turning her back on her would result in her losing a life and wouldn't that be a pleasant way for the clan to realise she wasn't just a regular warrior like she tried to be.
"Why ask if you don't care?" Tempestignite didn't know why she'd ask such an obvious question with such an obvious answer: Foxstar wanted to get under her skin. And she wouldn't let that happen. She wasn't sure if she was being successful in that regard.

"I care about Emberstar because my mate cares, and would like to know. You, however, I couldn't care less about. You're a defector, and I could kill you without much repercussion. But what fun would that be? No, I think I'll let you live for now. You'll bring me great amusement, I'm sure." All pretense of friendliness, however little there was, dropped from her expression as she continued, though that same dangerous smile remained.
Tempestignite shook her head at Foxstar. "As far as I know, Emberstar is doing fine."Maybe you should ask him yourself. she added snarkily in her head. She'd never liked the other she-cat. She wasn't here for anyone's amusement, lest of all a murderous traitor's. But, she didn't want to die anytime soon. She had to many plans that still needed planning.
