Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
To clarify Lost's belief that there is a way to get rid of admins, yes, there is.
There is an impeachment process. From my understanding, it is currently being reworked a bit, because as it stands now it's pretty clunky. It was something that I had intended on fixing before I stepped down before life got in the way, and I know that komiharu and I have discussed ways to fix the current process before this all happened.
I'm assuming a total revamp of the impeachment process is being put on the back burner while everything else is being figured out, but there still is a process that can be started as soon as a member brings forward a case for impeachment upon an administrator.
Like I said I’m not here to spill tea, I had the amazing luck to be able to work with some of the most selfless and caring admins (and there were a lot! but we are not discussing them right now) but there was still a dark period in a time of one of our rotations of admin groups. I won’t mention when this period was during my time of admin but I will vaguely tell you one of the things we did.
During this period admins had a lot of control, and a lot of people looked up to the admins as they had stopped multiple “hackings” and “threats” that occurred in one of our busiest times. Everyone thought a little too well of themselves, thought higher of themselves then they should have for an RPG cat site full of teenagers and young adults. We thought ourselves and invincible and became angered at anyone who wanted to bring new thoughts or ways onto the site. Unfortunately, an old time member was one of these, someone who actually still rpgs here. She had new and eye opening ideas that just spouted from her like a waterfall. She had mainly stayed in the background as a simply rper, but her creativity was too much to ignore and others took notice. Suddenly she was becoming deputy and later on a leader and then later on a helper mod. She challenged us, how we thought and viewed the site. How the clans functioned and were rped with. She was different, and the admin group declared war on her. You see we had created a list of people who were to be watched, this was a time of deep paranoia because an older banned member had tried to take on multi aliases to continue coming back to the site and rp and take on higher positions. So we watched people we felt were a “threat to the site's future" and this innocent user became one. She was given warnings at any chance, discouraged from being picked for higher positions, and her ideas were encouraged to be scoffed at. I’m not sure if this user realizes who she is, I have apologized to her before after realizing that it was not HER who was the bad guy but US as admins.
Edit: If you read all of this and just became very offended maybe look inside yourself and ask why. Where you one of those bad admins? Did you encourage some of those bad ideals? Where you apart of a negative event that shouldn't have happened? If you were a good admin then this isn't about your possible toxic actions or behaviors. When you bring up a repeating pattern of toxic behavior people get insulted
I told myself I was gonna stay out of this, but after reading this, I feel the need to make a note for the sake of current and future members. I know I'm currently off the site, but anytime I take a break from Classic, it's always because I know that it will be there for me to return to. Seeing this episode, however, worries me that I might be wrong. Anyway, onto this matter specifically.
Let me preface it with this: I'm so sick of being used as an example of negativity. It hurts and frankly, sucks to be referenced as nothing more than a “banned member” that did that horrible stuff and contributed to a time of “deep paranoia” and be associated with the words “threat to the site’s future,” and be used as a justification for shady actions that were taken. As though nothing I’ve done since that has changed anything. As if all of the hard work I’ve done to earn forgiveness, regain trust, and express my regret pales in comparison. As if I didn’t literally create and spend hours working on this freeforums website to save Classic from Wikifoundry. Not saying you’re insinuating any of that, and I’m not trying to put words in your mouth, but I wanted you to be aware of what your words can imply with some people.
I wanted to call that out because I wanted to identify a perpetual issue. You say you won’t mention the time period, but I will. 2013. It was 6 and a half years ago.
Since you brought up this situation, and since I notice that you historically tend to reference this situation in most of your posts regarding the faults of the administration, I wanted to come here and clarify something. Yes, that was a very dark and corrupt time. The administrators of 2013 were absolutely out to get me, and as you’ve mentioned, you were one of them. But here’s the thing: that was 6.5 years ago. We were ALL kids back then. We all made mistakes, we’ve all learned from them, we’ve all grown up from them, and we've all moved on from them.
Another thing: please stop talking down to other users saying that you "hope we would actually READ your post" and that you "guess you have to spoonfeed" us. That's rude and degrading. I know you say you didn't reference anyone specific, but the fact of the matter is this: you don't have to explicitly call anyone out for people to know exactly who you're getting at. This whole “perpetual corrupted admin culture” thing that you keep preaching is simply a remnant of an old truth that you're using to try and prove a point with on an entirely different situation, and it comes off as you attacking the current admins. There is no secret evil that is being passed on from admin generation to generation. (The only thing that sometimes holds truth is the whole friends choosing friends ideal, which I will address later.)
I’ll take your same example of my situation and raise you: a new admin team, years later, allowed me to come back. They forgave me and took a chance on me. They put trust in me and gave me a second chance. And you know what happened? Everything since. Even better? Some of the administrators who were on the team that worked to keep me away were the same ones who not only let me come back, but lifted the restrictions that specifically prevented me from taking on higher positions and truly tried to integrate me back onto Classic. If that doesn’t show growth, I don’t know what possibly would.
I know the example was a small citation in your post, but it's a big deal to me.
My point in bringing this up is to clarify how outdated this example is, and that the administrators of today are nothing like the administrators of the past. If I, the “banned member,” can grow and forgive, why can’t you? Especially when you were one of them? Move on. Grow up. Don’t punish the people who are working hard/have worked hard to maintain Classic because of a few people who did a poor job in the past. Don’t tarnish the administration team as a whole because of a few specific people. Don't unearth unrelated history to use as a weapon against uninvolved people. And please don’t target people who have made mistakes in your eyes and try to incite people against them. That goes for anyone.
To newer members: please don’t be swayed by such dramatic words. Back then, it was a bunch of tweens and teens being cliquey and catty. I was the primary issue and target, and even I am able to speak confidently when I say I love the current admins/past few admin teams and the issue is not so much them, but older users who have never been happy with the system, and never will be. Does it have its flaws? Absolutely! They need to be worked out. But that is NOT the single fault of anyone currently holding a position. They aren’t out to get anyone or hurt anyone, and if anything, they are deserving of a much higher level of respect than they’re currently receiving, considering the things that have been said. Not even as administrators, but as human beings. They don't deserve to be compared to an incident that occurred before some of them even joined the site.If you're unhappy with the way things are run, please speak up about it -- but use concrete proof and examples from relevant (and recent) events.
That's all on that.
---
To contribute to the actual discussion here, I think a complete reset is unnecessary. It’s just not feasible; Classic doesn’t have enough members to do it. And just to be completely transparent, if people really wanted a total reset, then they would have little problem with the suggestion that newly site elected administrators should be people who have never been administrators before. I absolutely am against taking away leaders' autonomy of choosing their deputy or setting a term limit. If they're doing well, there is no reason to remove them, especially since it's not like we have people lined down the block for their positions.
To throw this into the mix, I do think that helper moderators should have shorter initial terms. I've seen several go inactive. Set a term for three months and if they do well, they can be reelected for another three.
Administrators shouldn't have a time limit, but to speak on my point earlier of friends choosing friends, I firmly believe in democracy and think that we should go back to the current administrator choosing 2-3 potential successors, and then having the site vote on which one they want. I don't believe we should force any current administrator to step down. I believe they are mature and capable enough of making a determination of their competency for themselves.
I believe there needs to be 5 admins. It's a team. And for anyone who claims that one job is less relevant or important than another, please think before you post on that. These admins, current and past, work extremely hard at what they do. (I saw someone suggest that the Layout Manager isn't necessary, and I may be partial because I'm a designer myself, but I feel that there absolutely needs to be someone to coordinate the aesthetics of the site. People might not realize how much of an effect a professional looking site can have versus one that looks amateur.)

POSTEDAug 22, 2019 22:18:43 GMT -5 TO Ideas & Suggestions
hey. so I haven't bothered to read this thread. I left at the beginning of august and 'formally' left in modchat in a messy sort of way a couple days ago because honestly I didn't care anymore and had checked out weeks before. Then closed down my skype because as I said I was done. I felt no need to hash things out or argue in circles. Ain't my problems anymore. Also, just to be clear, I didn't come here to apologize for anything. If you would like an apology or to talk to me because you feel I wronged you in some way I unblocked people on skype. So if you'd like to you can reach out to me or hell, ask teagan and she'll give you my discord/google number and you can call me. The conversation will go quicker spoken allowed. <3 [you can still just skype me if you want and if i forgot to unblock you ask teagan to let me know] Or ask your admins to reach out to me. <3
I logged in for one reason only. [Because who knows the point of this thread anymore honestly from just a glance it looks like a garbage fire. ]
AND THAT REASON IS ... DRUM-ROLL PLEASE.
I got a great call this morning and it made my day. I was over the moon honestly and laughed so hard I almost choked. I heard someone brought me up for a WARNING! I waited for 2 HOURS to get a warning. I even opened up my skype so the admins could hand it out to me. I mean since I deleted my accounts and left the site ya know? So I wanted to make sure they could let me know I had a warning. Because it seemed so important to hand one out to me, someone who left the site, when the site had public threads such as this that didn't seem to be getting resolved properly.
But no one gave me my warning.
So i'm here for my warning please. hopefully I've probably earned it by now through this post? and for those who are going to be upset I'm back, I mean I'm simply here to get my warning. <3 My first warning on the site ever and I wasn't here to accept it. So I'm here now and I accept my warning. I've been troublesome enough now to earn it yes?
NOW
I'd like to thank my dead mom for dying when I was 15 and not raising me. This way I'm apparently lacking the proper manners and as such able to do this. I'd like to thank my younger sister for trying to choke me that one time, you probably deprived me enough oxygen I got brain damage. I'd like to thank the member who told me they would die for me, that was real sweet.
Alright staff can move on hopefully now to sorting this stuff out so I don't have to hear about it anymore. Because I don't care, and it's boring me to here each more ludicrous update. also now you can come prosecute me instead of an old member who was just trying to help. or ru's who were just trying to be heard. or some poor fawn who was just trying to see both sides. Please address all hate mail to my email : nene@dot-mail.top | ask for apologies and clarifications through my skype. <3
P.S. I haven't forgiven certain members for witch hunts they lead against others with no proof or good reasons. But are now upset on being the other side of such things.
(not really the way things are going someone should get marshmallows to roast. which is funny considering it started with such pure intentions but was twisted into the hellscape it is now.) (scarlette was also in a shooting so please stop talking to her. got better things to worry about than this. her and her girlfriend are fine, not that any of you care.)
also hopefully I earned a ban so I can put that on my resume. (banned from a warrior cats rp site. It will go right under -proficient in using guilt as a weapon.- something I learned from the best)
also really gone now. I just wanted my warning because it tickled me to hear about it. then I heard there was ban talk so you can knock that off your bucket list with me to.
Sorry to anyone not involved with this. just ignore this post if so because this is really not important to anyone not involved in the witch hunt and instead focused on repairing the site. (and before anyone says i'm making it worse. I mean yeah probably but also as I said, i left weeks ago and don't care. I'm just here for my warning.)
