Tonight the moon would not climb the night sky, for the moon god had been defeated by the sun. This victory would not last, but for now her clan would celebrate before the moon god returned. As instructed by the Sun God, they had gathered as much food as possible and headed to the gathering spot to share their joy with the other clans.
Littlebird’s fur was coated in orange, red, and yellow paints, the intricate designs had taken hours to put into place with the help of her mate and sister in law. She wanted to look her best, after all its wasn’t every night that the moon would hide it’s face from the greatness of the sun. Her clan had arrived just as the sun dipped below the horizon, as they began to set up. They carved their designs into near by trees using their claws, using paints to make them even more evident. As the darkness became more and more apparent, the other clan’s would soon realize what they already knew. Tonight there would be no moon to light up the night sky, only the distant glimmering of stars and the painted pelts of her clan-mates shining like flames in the darkness.
"Freckledorange, there's no such thing as a midnight patrol, just go have a social life like every other warrior or start up bird watching," Glowstar groaned.
"No, the moon. It's- it's gone!" Freckledorange said, barely managing to get the words out of his mouth.
"Oh no. OH NO," Glowstar said getting up in mock panic, "Freckles, you better go get the biggest patrol together, we'll go down to the gathering place where everyone else is panicking and figure something out. There's no time to spare!"
"Oh my gosh, you're right!"
"No I'm not cause that would be stupid. I mean, if it happens tomorrow, maybe, but it's just one-"
"Oh my gosh, Glowstar, did you see that the moons missing? We gotta go to the gathering place and do something about this!" Zephyrglade exclaimed at the entrance of the den.
At The Gathering
"Who the heck is going to come to a gathering cause the moons missing?" Glowstar mumbled. Maybe it was just the fact that she lived in the league and without having much of a belief in anything before she didn't see the signs like every other clan cat claimed to. But the moon missing just seemed disturbing if anything, but not reason to panic. However DayClan was concerned and darnit, her adorable, precious, fierce clan was not going to be up late wondering about this. She would get to the bottom of this for them.
For a moment she figured no one else would be there, that is until she saw colors... Bright colors in the distance. What the...?
She squinted her eyes, but as DayClan moved closer they could see SunClan cats everywhere appearing to be celebrating?
Burningstar had woken up to her sister freaking out by the lack of the moon taking to the sky after the sun had set.
Immediately fearing this was some sort of crazy disaster shed roused her clan and ordered for a patrol to head for the gathering place immediately. This could be a grave emergency and there wasn't a moment to lose.
All the clans should be concerned about the moons absence. The sun needed the moon as the moon needed the sun. It was balance.
Though as she came up beside Glowstar and DayClan to see SunClan partying she let out a weary sigh.
"Can SunClan try to not step on everyone's paws?" She muttered to Glowstar. "The moon being gone is not.... normal." She said after thinking it over
Windchaser pulled up next to her leader, eyeing the Sunclan cats. "Are they....celebrating?" Windchaser asked them, a raised brow in confusion.
Nightclan
Larkwing halted beside Burningstar, worry clouding his beautiful blue eyes. "What the-?" He scanned the clearing, obviously confused as well. What were the Sunclan cats doing?
Wearing a flat, unamused expression, the ginger leader trekked toward the gathering place. He already regretted coming. His clan had been a little concerned and he figured the other clans would be too, so he’d come to join the discussion. Chimerastar was already convinced it was a futile effort and waste of time, but he would mind seeing a certain friendly face. If he came.
“DayClan, SunClan, and NightClan,” he mused to the cats nearest him as they neared the groups. “Looks like we’re in the wrong place.”
Just as the sun god had predicated, it wasn't long before the footsteps of many cats could be heard approaching. The cats of sunclan were dancing around the large pile of fresh kill that had been amassed in the center of the clearing, laughter and cheers filling the air
"Glowstar" Littlebird greeted warmly, prancing over to where the other leader had emerged "I'm so glad that you could make it, it just wouldn't be a party without you"
She glanced behind her to some of the warriors and nodded, as the moved forward and passed her a wreathe of woven flowers that she placed over the other leader's head "This is for you" its was full of yellow and orange flowers that matched the one Littlebird now wore "Tonight we celebrate the Sun's victory over the Moon, join us" just as she finished, she turned to Burningstar "Don't worry Burningstar, I wouldn't leave you out of the party" as she placed another wreathe around the other leader's neck. "We shall dance until the sun rises once more"
While NightClan and DayClan's arrival had been expected, WaterClan showing up so far from home was a little more surprise "Oh Chimerastar! What a nice surprise, of course feel free to join in the festivities"
Mother E'tani slipped into the gathering place and her mouth twitched, wanting to downturn in distaste as she peered at the sunclan cats. She found their colorful appearances rather gaudy to be honest. She wondered why they did that but definitely didn't care enough to ask, and she darted a glance towards Sigmund at her side desperately hoping he wouldn't either. If he got them stuck in a conversation she didn't want to sit in she would rip off more of his fur and make him eat it.
Moving forward she closed in closer to Innocentia, the two white she-cats pelts melding with how close the nemesis walked next to her punishment proxy. "You may do as you wish with your task, but please take care to not cause trouble within the gathering site." She hummed, keeping her words vague and the meaning open ended in case anyone overheard. Thought that would be a feat seeing as she had spoken mainly under her breath and almost directly into the smaller cats ear. Pulling away from her side and leaving her to her task.
She moved along the edges of the clearing, golden eyes hard as she resisted the urge to sigh. The whole place seemed to be unorganized chaos, with every clan having a different reason for appearing. Pausing she turned to Sigmund to ask his opinion only to find him with his eye closed. "Sigmund stop that. I told you you're not going blind, you are not blind, and the moon not being in the sky is not going to make you go blind." She snapped furiously, "open your eyes before you trip. And if you do trip please make sure you break your neck while doing so." Turning away she didn't wait to see if he listened to her. She could only suffer his presence for so long when he was like this and she readily took the opportunity of his eyes being closed to slip away from him.
"You worry to much Burningstar, for this night has been fortold by the Sun God. Tonight our god is the victor, but the moon shall return in time. The Sun God's brother is not so easily defeated, for it is the way of this world. It is a night for celebration and friendship, until the moon rises and we must go to war once more" a purr rumbled in the throat as she watched her warriors going forth and mixing with the arriving cats to offer them flowers and freshkill. Many of the younger cats still skipped and danced, paying little mind to their visitors.
"WINDCHASEEEER," Autumngossamer laughed in the most perfect mean girl scoff that took effort and moons of belittling to master, "Girl, are you here to finally party it up with the right crowd. C'mon, I caught this awesome squirrel, I mean, usually I don't like to share, but it's a good night for once, so let's enjoy it since the moons gooooone! ♪♫"
Autumngossamer seemed to have an entire little dance going on, swaying her body and moving her paws around as she spoke to some invisible tune.
"Oh hey, WaterClan's here, now it's a party!" Duskslayer said, "It's so great to know that you guys came out all this way to support the moon being gone, really means a lot."
NIGHTCLAN
Ericanorth snorted and for once was standing close to Burningstar's side, "I usually have high praise for SunClan, but honestly on nights like these they're lucky to have us as their allies," She whispered.
DAYCLAN
Glowstar's emerald eyes lit up like starfire at the wreath, it was so bright it almost looked like it glowed, "I love it! I love it! I love it!" Glowstar squealed leaping up and down in excitement, apparently forgetting all about the issue of the moon being gone, "This is the coolest thing SunClan's ever done! You guys are awesoooome!"
PRIMAL INSTINCT
"I promise to be on my suuuuper best behavior," The little white kit sized proxy replied with a playful salute as she marched or really skipped on over towards the crowd to assess who was there. She had a bow bigger than her head tied to the back of her neck with a jingly golden bell and velvet soft white fur.
Honestly, Mars didn't even know why he was here. Was the moon really that important? Sure it was normally up in the sky most nights, but if it was to suddenly vanish was that really a problem? The Regime didn't need the moon since they lived underground. He had received a report from one of his spies that clan cats seemed to be gathering in their usual meeting place tonight however and so he decided to go as well and see what the fuss was all about.
Of course this meant he would have to deal with SunClan which might be a bit of a problem, but he wasn't exactly afraid of them even if they were out in the open this time.
"Leave it to the Sun freaks to celebrate something most everyone else seems to be panicking about." Basil wasn't happy to be here. He had been drug out of his nest and out to this stupid gathering of cats over something as simple as the Moon. What was the big deal really? It would probably be back tomorrow night so why not just wait it out?
He answered Littlebird’s invitation with a hard look and said nothing. The leader turned away and stalked away from the group to lurk near the edges, flicking his ears with permission for his. and to disperse. Chim’s gaze fell on the Commander and a low growl rumbled in his throat at the sight of his ally. Their fragile peace had held after all the group had done to help, but it didn’t ease his own hatred for everything they had done to him.
Coralreef wasted no time bounding over to join the painted cats. “Wow! Hi! Can I have paint?”
Doestar slunk into the gathering place, ears flattened against his head nervously as he tried to step as lightly as possible and not draw any attention to himself or his Clan. It was the night after he’d appointed a new deputy, and already StarClan seemed angry enough with him to have taken away the moon entirely. So, things were off to a good start! And it was his first time meeting the other leaders as their equal, so, that was great, too — what better circumstances to meet them all under than universal panic and distrust and a little bit of partying? It didn’t make him horribly anxious at all.
He glanced around for a moment before spotting Chimerastar lurking in the shadows at the edge of the clearing. He considered ignoring him and pretending they didn’t know each other, but that idea went south the second he felt his heart give a pitiful little squeeze; after all, this was the first time they’d seen each other since their first meeting, and the first time he’d seen him since becoming leader, and he’d been dreaming about it for too long to just throw it away because he was afraid. These weren’t the circumstances he had been hoping for for their reunion, but he’d take what he could get. He limped over and sat down beside him, frowning around anxiously at the other Clans. “Crazy night, huh?” he murmured softly, resisting the urge to press himself against the WaterClan leader.
PRIMAL INSTINCT
“Super best behaviour,” Eshek laughed, loping after Innocentia and collapsing heavily in the middle of the clearing, right in everyone else’s way. She really didn’t care one way or the other if the moon never came back; darkness was better for sordid sorts of fun, anyway.

SunClan: Lovesmitten came up and boldy wrapped his tail around Autumngossamer, his bright red fur complimenting hers flawlessly. He had spent hours on his mate's paint, wanting to pamper her as much as possible. Since he had declared his love for her, he had been her most devoted fan. Tonight he wasn't going to let her out of his sight, not with so many rivals for her attention.Faith ~~~ Romancepaw ran over to Coral reef "Yeah come on! I will get you all painted up" he purred sweetly. What they didn't know is that there were only two symbols that outsiders could recieve, the meanings known only to members of SunClan: The crow or the moon. Cleaver ~~~~~ Littlebird grinned as Strik squealed with joy at her present "I'm glad that you like it, your clan looks like they are surprised by the celebrations. There is nothing to fear, we have known about tonight for more than a moon" most of the cats that were coming seemed completely bewildered or scared, but the Sun God's chosen ones. They fought against the darkness in this world each and every day, it would take more than this to dampen their joy. She shook her head as Chimerastar backed away "Some one is grumpy" she giggled, acting more open than she normally did when in public. The Sun's victory swaying even her mood.
However, as an all to familiar scent reached her nose thee joy melted from her face. Her gaze turned upon Commander Mars, a smoldering flame burning within "So you finally decided to emerge from your holes, Shadewalking cowards"fadedecho
PRIMAL INSTINCT Mother E'tani's eyes narrowed as she realized Eshek had followed them to the gathering when the Nemesis had instructed her to stay behind. Sighing heavily her thoughts turned towards who could replace the she-cat after Mother killed her and strung her intestines out to dry. Eshek had yet to do anything useful for her as a proxy and as such it shouldn't be to hard to replace her. These thoughts of culling her own followers were brought to scratching halt when she saw Doestar. Beaming a grin she wondered if she should approach him, he was her currently favorite project so surely he would be just as happy to see her.
But then the harsh words of the Sunclan cat she didn't quite know the name of caught her shredded ears and she turned her head and started heading in that direction instead to listen in. This was turning out not to be a wasted appearance after all. Perhaps she could ask them for creative suggestions on how to theoretically kill Eshek.
racer Coralreef beamed. "Awesome! This is going to be so cool," she enthused, "can I have purple? No, red! No-- all of the colors! Make me a rainbow!"
fox "Deputy," he murmured as the leader took a seat beside him, his voice weakening with relief at the sight of a familiar face. After the long trip to get here he was glad it was finally paying off, even if these cats didn't seem interested in bringing the moon back at all. He'd expected a conversation, worried mews and scared bristling coats, not a party. "Come to join the celebration? You're missing out, sitting over here. With me." He had forced his half-gaze to stay trained ahead, disinterested, but now he couldn't help flashing a quick side glance Doestar's way, and smile slightly in greeting.
The look Mars gave Littlebird was far from the pleasant smile he gave most. In fact, the look he gave her could be considered downright dangerous. He didn't like SunClan. He couldn't say he liked any clan that went around acting superior to others only to attack the Regime like a group of savages when things didn't go their way for once. SunClan was a clan of murderers and sneaks. He didn't have proof, but he knew that they had caused that tunnel collapse that had killed Regime cats and SunClan warriors alike. He would not be the one to start a confrontation here though so after a moment he managed to calm himself and the glare was replaced with the same charming smile he showed to everyone else. He then turned to glance back at his soldiers. "No one is to start a fight with the SunClan cats tonight. If they want to reveal themselves for the savages they are, let them, but we will not be the ones to start a fight." His command was quiet, but loud enough for his soldiers to hear him.
With that said, he made his way through the throng of cats and over to where Littlebird was standing. "Good evening Littlebird. It's so odd to see SunClan out at night. I thought you all enjoyed the Sun correct?" Despite the hatred he felt towards SunClan, his tone was friendly and actually held a cheerful note. "How are things in SunClan at the moment?" Of course he knew a bit thanks to the fact that he still had his soldiers attacking their patrols off and on just to keep them in check. Then of course there was the fact that the Regime still held Foxstar captive in their prison. The question was innocent enough, but it was a loaded question meant to ruffle her fur. While he cared little for why the others were here, he would waste no chance to make SunClan look like a bunch of uncultured savages.
Meanwhile someone else had come with the Commander, someone that probably should have stayed home tonight. Snowflight, or Amnesty as she was now called was doing her best to blend in with the rest of the Regime. She knew she would probably be noticed tonight. SunClan was going to hate her for her choice, but she couldn't say she regretted it, not after she had realized that she had been brainwashed from an early age to believe in the Sun God and in a way of life that she had never been fully comfortable with. For now, she would stick to her own group and try to avoid confrontation.
SUNCLAN Honestly, Twilightbell was as happy as the rest of the SunClan cats. The moon had always been a nuisance in the sky reminding them of their god's eternal enemy and of the eternal battle that the two of them were locked in. Had the Sun God finally triumphed? Honestly she felt like it was too early to tell, but for now she would celebrate with her clan. Well, that was until she noticed that the Regime commander was near Littlebird. This caused the Soothsayer to frown and she instantly went to join her. There was no telling what sneaky tricks the tunnel rats would attempt tonight. Even if they were in full sight, she had learned early on to never trust cowards.
Innocentia playfully bat at Eshek's shoulder giggling, "Get up you sil."
"Eshek?" The voice was unmistakably Lucistic's.
Innocentia's yellow eyes glinted at the appearance of the massive black tom. Leucisticcrow was what he went by here and typically here was not where he normally resided in. He'd live in the league any day, but he did try to support his mom and son which was what brought him out this way. He did not expect this, the league really never made appearances in the gathering, the odds of this were boggling and yet here they were. Leucisticcrow peered over Eshek and could make out Mother E'tani's white figure in the background, worry leaking into his heart. It was odd for him, what did a sadomasochist have to fear when pain was all he hungered for?
Autumngossamer purred and nuzzled into Lovesmitten practically burrowing herself into him. Any opportunity she got she snuggled into him like it was her rightful place to be, "This is the guy I was talking to you about, Wind. Can you believe I was ever worried, he's perfect," She cooed the last words lightly giving Lovesmitten a little lick over the muzzle, "Love you to the sun bae."
She turned and her eyes locked with who was following after the Regime, Snowflight, wicked little traitor, "Ugh, who invited her?"
DAYCLAN
Glowstar's ears flattened at Littlebird's harsh words, but sort of moved her head side to side wondering if that insult actually worked on cats who literally did walk in the shade. Like a DayClan cat would understand that was a bad thing, but to cats literally living under a rock, probably not. Glowstar looked to Commander Mars reaction first not wanting to get involved unless she felt she was invited to or needed to overstep involvement. When Commander Mars replied nicely her smile widened uncomfortably and she found herself rubbing up underneath his chin in an awkward hello when really she was trying to protect him in case Littlebird just decided to go for the neck, "Hey commander," She said moving aside once more, but at close proximity with him. She looked between him and Littlebird, she loved them both, but was worried they'd end up killing each other if she went to say hello to the new guy Doestar so she decided to stay put.
PRIMAL INSTINCT Mother E'tani's eyes strayed across Innocentia and Eshek, hoping they would get something done soon, the gathering wouldn't last forever and they would need time for their task. But she also disliked hovering and breathing down others necks, it was rude. She trusted Innocentia enough to get things done; if she didn't get distracted by her whoever the tom that approaching her was. Golden eyes turning away again she padded up to the group that held the most tension between them, ever so curious. Commander Mars seemed unbothered, the sunclan she-cat seemed ready to shed blood, and the dayclan leader seemed torn between loyalties.
"Do you three know each other?" She asked as she wandered over with a placid smile. "You see I'm new here and I know no one. So I thought perhaps it would be crucial to at-least introduce myself to some of you. And as you were all together I thought now was as good a time as any."Her expression didn't shift, still placid; almost doll like and unsettling in it's unmoving nature. "I'm Mother E'tani."
