Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. Celestialglow nodded, perking her ears to listen for any prey. After several fox-lengths of walking, rustling caught Celestialglow's attention. She parted her jaws and tasted the air. She could smell prey but there was something else....Within a moment, a flash of fur barreled into Stonefang, sinking claws into the tom's fur just enough to warn Stonefang know not to move.
"What are y-" the cat strange cat pinning Stonefang down cut off, his green eyes meeting the Earthclan warrior's.
The tortoiseshell tom looked oddly familiar to Celestialglow. Then she remembered...Toadstream!
It had seemed the tom recognized them too and released Stonefang, "Father?" Toadstream's eyes widened and lit up like an apprentice's first day out of camp. "Your alive!"

Stonefang's first thought was he was being attacked by a rogue but the familiar scent of his son invaded his senses. After being released, he rolled up onto his feet and faced his son. "Toadstream? Is that really you?" he asked, hoping he wasn't dreaming. He moved in closer to make sure. "It is you!" he exclaimed happily.
Toadstream pressed his head against Stonefang's purring loudly. "I'm so relieved to see your alive! All of you!" He looked at Celestialglow and Cutthroat. "Loststar has been having us explore a little passed the borders to keep an eye on any survivors but your scent was hidden. I thought you were a rogue. I'm sorry" he apologized with an embarrassed smile. "I'm so glad to see you, though! Where are you heading?"

"Loststar?" Cutthroat asked. "What does Fallclan's leader have to do with you?" He was so surprised at Toadstream's comment that he didn't answer his question.
Stonefang backed away from Toadstream with a questioning look in his eyes. "Yes, I wouldn't be surprised if she wanted to take advantage of our situation. She always was cold and aloof. Those are the ones you have to watch out for. You never know when they'll strike." He had no love for FallClan. The cats he had met at gatherings all seemed so self important and unfriendly. There were other clans who seemed nice enough though, like SummerClan. Cats from there were always friendly to him and like to talk.
"What?" Toadstream was surprised by their hatred toward Loststar and Fallclan. "No, you've got it all wrong. Loststar saved my life. She found me when I was hurt and took me in. Shes my friend." Toadstream couldnt believe that they were so upset. "I have joined them. I owe them my life."

"Joined Fallclan?" Stonefang asked confusion written clearly on his face. Both he and Cutthroat hadn't really understood the complete devastation Earthclan had under gone. In the back of Stonefang's mind, he had thought the surviving members had scattered only temporary but would come back to their land eventually. He didn't realize (and didn't want to believe) that the clan was actually no more. "Why? Aren't you coming back to EarthClan?"
Cutthroat glanced over at Celistialglow questioningly too then looked back at Toadstream. He was more blunt. "So just because she saved you, as you say, you decided to turn your back on Earthclan, the clan where you were born and where your loyalties should lie, and join hers?" He felt his fur rising in defense of his clan.
Toadstream's eyes widened in surprise. "No! I would never turn my back on Earthclan! But...Earthclan is destroyed, Cutthroat. Theres nothing left of our home and more than half of our clanmates are dead!" Toadstream began to bristle as well. "But it's pretty sad that you think I would do such a thing to my clan. I had no choice. I have run into several of the survival clan cats and all of them have settled into different clans. Not just me." He growled. Then he flicked his gaze on Stonefang. "Including your daughter! Shes living in Dayclan with Mudkit, in case you care."
Celestialglow wanted to jump in and break them up but they all needed to hear the others side of the story.

Cutthroat began to say something but Stonefang cut him off. "D-destroyed?" he asked, then continued. "Half our clan is ... dead?" His eyes were wide with shock and grief. "Berryfrost ... do you know where she went?" He didn't want to believe the unthinkable. "I - I want to go to her."
The mention of his mother made his heart ache and he suddenly felt sick to his stomach. Instantly, he regretted losing his temper. Toadstream lowed his gaze, unable to look his father in the eye. "...You wont find her in any of the clans...s-she...she died....saving my life..." he swallowed back the lump rising in his throat.

Shock registered on Stonefang's face. Then grief and sorrow. He slumped onto the ground and wept. "NO.....NO! I should have been there for you!" In his mind he pictured his beautiful mate. "If I were there then both of you would have been saved!" He felt like his heart was being torn from his chest. Then in an effort to compose himself, he rose to a sitting position. "She died an honorable death saving another, one of our kits, you," he sniffed.
Toadstream took a seat beside his father and pressed his head to Stonefang's shoulder. "She was so brave...the best mother any one could ever ask for...I'm so sorry I had to be the one to tell you.." Tears filled his eyes as he remembered her soothing voice. "..I would have saved her if I could..."
Celestialglow bowed her head in sorrow, her heart aching. She had remembered the last meaningful conversation she had with Berryfrost. That was when Cutthroat and Celestialglow first got together. Berryfrost had told her the joy of having kits and that she wished one day the sandy tabby would eventually start one with her new mate. Berryfrost had always treated Celestialglow with kindness. "She was a fine warrior, Stonefang. And a wonderful mother. I'm so sorry for your loss..." She couldnt imagine losing Cutthroat. It would tear her to pieces. She looked at her mate and took in all of his perfections and imperfections that she adored so much. What would she do if she were to ever lose him like that?

"I know you would have," Stonefang meowed shakily. "You're a good cat." Tears flowed down his muzzle as he leaned in closer to his son. He looked up at Celestialglow and nodded his gratitude for her words. He knew she must be suffering as well because she and Berryfrost were friends. He had seen them talking together from time to time.
Cutthroat felt sorry for his friend and wished things didn't turn out as they had. He was about to say something when he heard a noise, a rustling in the undergrowth. "Um, I hate to break this up but I believe we have company." Just then three cats came into view. Two were gray tabby toms and the other was an all black she cat. One of the toms spoke up with a voice carrying authority. "What are you doing near the Moon Creek?" he demanded.
"Minding our own business, maybe you should try it!" Celestialglow growled, shooting to her paws and standing defensively in front of her previous clanmates,

"This is my business," he growled, flattening his ears as he prepared to spring.
"Wait Graythorn," the other tom meowed as he stepped forward. "These cats aren't rogues as we thought. I recognize their scent. They're from EarthClan, well at least those cats are. That one's from FallClan."
"Dustfeather's right," Pantherclaw joined in. "I remember talking with those two at gatherings." She indicated Cutthroat and Stonefang. "Hi! Remember us?" she meowed.
Cutthroat's eyes widened as recognition came to him. "Of course! These cats are from SummerClan," he told Celestialglow and Toadstream. "They were really nice and friendly to me and Stonefang two moons ago."

She remembered Graythorn from the gatherings. He was their medicine cat. Celestialglow flattened her fur again and softened her gaze. "My apologies." She backed up and stood beside her mate, still uncertain of the Summerclan cats.
Toadstream relaxed as well, "what are all of you doing out here? This is rogue territory after all. We shouldn't really even be here."

Graythorn felt like giving Toadstream one of the sharp replies he's known for but decided against it. It would serve no useful purpose. "We're going to the Moon Creek. I have medicine cat business to attend to and these two came along with me."
"Hey!" Pantherclaw interjected as a thought came to her. "You're not living here now since, well ... uh..." she realized as she was speaking it might not be nice to talk about their misfortune.
"Alright, alright" Toadstream meowed, avoiding a fight. "Well, father, Celestialglow, Cutthroat, your welcome to join us in Fallclan if you'd like. I'm sure Loststar wouldnt mind."

Graythorn began to suddenly get excited when he heard Toadstream speak. Rushing forward to Cutthroat, he meowed, “Quick! Tell me your names.”
Cutthroat took a step back from the animated medicine cat before answering him. “I’m Cutthroat.” And then looking at his mate he said, “And she’s Celestialglow and this is Stonefang. Why do you ask?” Graythorn’s excitement increased when he heard their names.
Stonefang was standing next to Toadstream. He was touched by his son’s offer to join him. What is this cat so worked up about? he wondered as he watched the interaction between his clanmate and the SummerClan tom.
“StarClan sent me here to find you,” Graythorn meowed. “I’ll admit I had my doubts as to what they meant at first but now I see it clearly.”
“What are you talking about?” Stonefang asked, taking a step forward. He wondered what the medicine cat meant when he mentioned StarClan.
“StarClan sent you?” Cutthroat asked dubiously. “Why would they do that? They destroyed our home. They don’t care about us anymore.”
Dustfeather and Pantherclaw eyed their medicine cat curiously but neither spoke.

"Starclan sent you to find us?" Celestialglow stepped forward, surprise in her green eyes. "What did they tell you? Did they say we will get our home back?"
Post by Whitemuzzle on Oct 15, 2019 16:29:13 GMT -5
"No, they didn't say anything about your home," Graythorn replied, a little sympathy in his voice. "And they really didn't send me. I was coming to the Moon Creek to get some answers to my vision. And I found you!"
"That's all well and good," Cutthroat meowed. "But you haven't told us anything yet."
"I'm getting to it!" Graythorn snapped. "Just keep your fur on!" His normal grumpiness was beginning to show. Then in a calmer voice he continued as he looked up into the sky, "In a vision StarClan told me this:
Three from the earth, Who lost their land of birth.
A wound, a rock, and a light, Who wander in the night.
Bring them to your home, Nevermore to roam.
Summer is the way This is where they’ll stay."
He finished and looked back at the three refugees. "See? StarClan named you in this vision."
