Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Fawnleap hissed in irritation as she swatted away another bee – or was it a wasp? She could never tell. The young warrior hadn’t been looking where she was going, and in a misaimed bid to catch a vole, had accidentally careened into a beehive...wasp’s nest….thing. Why Mother Nature had cursed her by placing one of those deathtraps so low to the ground, Fawnleap would never know.
“Please leave me alone,” she groaned, taking care to back away from the swarm carefully. “I didn’t mean to destroy your home. I just wanted to protect my home. It’s the circle of life, I’m sure you understand...” The sound of angry buzzing only seemed to rise in volume. “...Okay, so maybe you don’t.”
Fernshadow had been out hunting when she heard the angry buzzing of, many many, many wasps, her ears flattened and she drew back, then she caught scent of her former apprentice.
Her former apprentice was caught in this mess? That wouldn't do.
Quickly she ran out to see what was going on, eyes widening when she saw Fawnleap trying to back away from the angry wasps.
She took in the sight of the damaged wasp's nest. "Fawnleap, back towards me, if they rush you then run." Fernshadow quickly advised.
Fawnleap breathed a sigh of relief at the sound of her mentor's voice, though in hindsight, she probably should have waited to relax until they were away from the bees. "Has anyone ever told you how good your sense of timing is?" she asked in a low tone, backing away from the swarm as slow as she could. The buzzing seemed to lessen, seemingly fading away into only a low murmur...until the sharp crack of a broken twig echoed throughout the forest, and the swarm's song suddenly reached a crescendo as they surged forward. Fawnleap took one guilty look at the broken stick under one of her hind paws before taking off in the opposite direction, following Fernshadow's advice and running to high heaven.
"Whaddya we do now?!" she called out to her former mentor, though she was too scared to properly look behind her for fear of getting a stinger to the eye.
"Just run!" Fernshadow said, with the bees now swarming in attack mode. Not even she'd be safe nearby, so she ran to catch up to her former apprentice fleeing from the bees. "We're faster than them so just keep running. If we head past the abandoned bear cave we should be able to get far enough away, and can then follow the border back to camp to warn anyone else about the aggressive bees.
Flame had been lounging in a tree when she heard the screams of what sounded like two she-cats in trouble. She had been creeping around Nightclan ever since making an alliance with Burningstar by bringing her kits back from Moonclan. Her ears perked with interest and she slipped out of the tree with elegance and landed with a soft thump onto her paws on the soft forest floor. She slipped through the trees until she came upon Fawnleap running from a swarm of bees and Fernshadow calling out suggestions. Flame couldnt hold back the laughter any longer--a kind of hysterical laughter as if this was the funniest thing she had ever seen. After a few moments, she regained herself, wiping away a tear from her eye with a claw.
"Dont you Nightclan cats know anything? You'll be running for miles before you lose those bees!" With a casual lick of her paw, she continued, "bees cant swim. Your best bet would find a river and go under water. The bees will eventually leave you alone. If you can hold your breath long enough."
