Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
A flash of grey caught Polarfantasy's eyes, the form of a mouse. Her ears perked. She wasn't good at hunting, and couldn't follow a scent to save her soul, so often she avoided hunting in general. But there, right in front of her, was prey. Even she had to give it a shot, right? And anyways, she figured perhaps her aim had gotten better since her apprentice years.
She stalked forward, the feeling of it like a distant memory, and brought to mind old friends who she'd once known. What happened to them? She never talked to Merrylake anymore, or Gempaw either. And what about her mentor Lullabythistle, what had happened to her? As she creeped forward, unfocused, her foot hit a rock, almost tripping, and yet by some miracle not scaring away the absentminded prey, chewing away now at a newly fallen nut. So she proceeded, now attempting to be a hint more careful, until she finally neared close enough to pounce.
She felt her muscles bunch, a half-familiar sensation that once more ripped her into reverie. Hazy summer days of prancing around in fields, and then with autumn came chasing leaves, and then - nothing. It was oddly blank. Without quite remembering what she was actually doing, she leapt forwards, and only with paws fully off the ground realizing she had tossed herself towards the mouse. She fumbled her landing, almost crushing the tiny creature under the weight of her paw as she fell unevenly onto the ground, luckily not injury.
She didn't make an immediate attempt to move, instead watching blankly ahead as the mouse hopped and scattered out of sight, leaving her alone.
Fireflame was in the area and paused as he too smelled the mouse. He paused to allow his Clan-mate to catch the prey. When she hesitated Fireflame lowered himself and then pounced as the mouse ran into his hiding spot. The flame orange tom grasped it in his claws and then bit it's throat before it could bite down on his paw. He rose with the mouse in his jaws dangling from it's tail. He made his way out of the brambles and over to the she-cat. "I believe this is yours?" He asked with a dip of his head as he placed the prey at her paws. He gave her a warm and understanding smile.
She blinked a second, as if trying to refocus her entire world view after such a gigantic failure, then, as if loading in her head what just happened, gave the tom a warm smile back. "Oh my gosh! Like, thanks so much! I, like, totally completely blew it back there, but like, you were amazing!" She complemented, somehow seeming shocked that the other warrior could hunting, the main thing expected of almost ever other cat in the entire clan.
