Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Kasdeya sat alone at sunset, watching the other cats of Dayclan share tongues and prey. She had a vole in front of her, and she ate it slowly, her uniquely colored eyes moving from group to group. Why did she feel so isolated?
Sure, she was physically alone. That was nothing new. Her entire life in Primal Instinct had been lived in solitude, growing up as an orphan and then deciding to distance herself from others. That was relatively normal in Primal Instinct. But here, there were friendships. And she wasn't part of them.
Several cats had approached her, in the early days of her time here. They had been perfectly friendly, and she had iced out each of them in turn, responding in dry comments and snarky questions. The other Dayclan cats had kept their distance since then. She thought she preferred to be alone, to not trust or be trusted. But here, watching jokes and conversations between friends, she felt like a hot pile of garbage.
"Stupid," she chastised herself, wrinkling her nose. Emotions were stupid.
"Well, you certainly don't strike me as the intelligent type." The sarcastic tone seemed to fill the air as Fia Cendrillon stepped forth, her voice seeming to drain all warmth from the air and into her light and dark ashen pelt that shifted with the movement, bringing light to the ginger embers located sporadically underneath the Bright Brigade feline's long fur. If anyone understood the former League cat, it was perhaps she. She was Wanderingwight's adopted daughter... though really, it was Fia who adopted Senescence as her mother more than the other way around. Which made her grandmother Glowstar, by definition.
She was one of the strongest cats in the clan, at least equal to the leader, and even they were second only to the Proxy herself. She had also been stolen from her mother at birth, been abused from the time she was born until Senescence found her near the DayClan border, and killed the two toms who held her. She never quite understood these cats, and morality to her was just shades of gray. She understood killing your enemies, torturing those who you needed information from, not this whole 'honor' and 'respect borders, don't hunt on other cats' land' type stuff. Never had.
"One would think you'd be a touch more grateful to be alive."
"It's a bold assumption on your part to assume that I'm not," Kasdeya answered in a wry tone, after giving the she-cat a once-over. Kasdeya had previously worked under Senescence, but she had only learned of her heritage and Fia after her arrival in Dayclan. It had been a rather awkward interaction, arriving from the League into Dayclan territory and immediately running into two Primal Instinct cats. She counted herself lucky to have lived through it. The former Huntress was a deadly fighter, not necessarily through brute strength but more from her in-battle decisions and her willingness to exploit every weakness she found. Still, she was not on Senescence's level, and facing her and Lucistic at the same time would have been her end.
"Have you run out of hobbies to entertain yourself? Is that why you feel the need to antagonize me while I'm trying to eat?" Kasdeya wasn't exactly hostile, sitting long and lean and white against the backdrop of the coming twilight. But she was far from friendly, too.
"It's a bold assumption of yours to think you wouldn't be visited by someone who can return the sass." Fia returned easily, rolling eyes that were like living embers, gilded amber flecked with shadows and rust that danced in the light and reflected that same particular shade of copper only Green's kits with Rake could claim to own.
Despite the lack of request to join in, the feline sat herself beside Kaseyda, a koi fish appearing between her paws. Senescence and Pyremortality were the Thieves. They were the ones who usually got such prey. But even so, Fia couldn't resist the challenge that the dogs who guarded the pond presented, and she'd gotten her trophy in the form of this meal. Not that she hadn't put at least one other on the pile, of course. "So, if you haven't yet decided to ditch this place for something more adrenaline inducing, have you picked your feathers, or your jobs yet?" Cats in DayClan had two feathers, and could hold up to two jobs. Fia's feathers hung from her left ear, swishing with the light. Freedom. Anarchy. The jobs she'd chosen for herself were Titan, and Tracker. Both had a decent number of cats in them, the former meant to fight threats such as foxes, and the latter were adept at finding both cats and prey. Cats gravitated towards different things. She liked the challenge of the ones she picked, though she'd considered switching before, when things occasionally got boring.
Kasdeya sighed under her breath, deciding to go along with the conversation- she had told herself she would try to be friendly. "I chose my feathers last night. Survival and control." She had the feathers back in her nest, still unused to the idea of wearing them. She had a hard time identifying the feathers that Fia wore, but she knew one of them to be Anarchy. She had considered that one herself, but found it didn't quite resonate with her.
She swallowed the last of her vole, looking out at the Dayclan cats. "I was told I would make a good Titan, with my background. I was considering Trailblazer as well." Being a Trailblazer would give her freedom to move and explore, to escape the weird social dynamics of Dayclan.
"Mine are freedom and anarchy, in case you didn't know one or the other. That control one you picked, well, so long as you don't try and cage me, we won't have any problems." Fia chuckled, though the flash of fang indicated she really wasn't joking. She didn't take kindly to being policed by others, whether it be on ethics or otherwise, and would fight tooth and claw to have free reign to do as she liked. "You do share your particular feather combination with Puppeteer, however. He's Eternallaughter, that Immortal Council member's father. Myself, Wanderingwight, Windchaser, and Aspidstralleaf are the other Titans. Can always use more cats to fight with. Bobbie, Cometwish, Trailblazer, and Fang are the Trailblazers. Fang is one of Glowstar's adopted kits. He's Rubyflame's mate, and actually a Primal Instinct deserter himself. Almost got himself killed by Vera at one point, but he's fine enough now." Perhaps it sounded like idle chatter to Kaseyda to be informed of such things, but Fia supposed it would be useful for her to know who she'd be dealing with if she were to pick those jobs. In particular, she expected that cats like Puppeteer and Fang would interest her, for both held similarities to her in one way or other.
She took a bite of her fish, relishing in the fresh taste of victory. Dumb dog had though he'd almost gotten her too, and she smirked at the memory. "A word of advice though. Stay away from SunClan. They like brainwashing cats, so unless you like joining cults and being told what to think, it's probably not the place for you. Talk to Fang and Rubyflame's kits, and you'll see what I mean." They'd been born into SunClan when the clan had control of DayClan, poisoned their minds against their own family. Kaseyda might like control, but likely not at the cost of her freedoms of thought and will.
Kasdeya listened to Fia speak, watching the sky light slowly deepen from orange to a vibrant purple blue as she absorbed the information. "I picked control for myself, not for others. Not sure if that's what it means, but I want control over my own destiny. As corny as that is. Not control over you, or anyone else. I've heard a few of those names since I've gotten here... but Trailblazer the trailblazer? That's quite ironic." Kasdeya almost smiled, but rolled back her shoulders instead.
"I've had enough of cults, so no worries with Sunclan. I... appreciate the information." Kasdeya was still pretty bad with genuinely thanking cats, despite how true her stiff words were. "Eternallaughter, Windchaser, and Rubyflame are part of that Immortal Council thing, right? They're like Proxies in a Warden position. What are they like, personality wise?"
