Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
This, Yumemi-kepa grinned to herself as she sped out of the kittypet-place with her five new charges in tow, is the best idea anyone on this entire planet has ever had.
It had started with a small passing comment from Shae, the coalition's newest Heda. She hadn't paid much thought to it at first - of course Absum Lux needed more sucklings. When didn't they need more sucklings? Probably when everyone was starving from overpopulation - that was probably the only time any self-respecting group of feral felines in the forest didn't need more sucklings, and Yumemi hadn't seen any starving patients come in for treatment recently. But then Yumemi had done that thing that she always did, where someone's tiny comment got stuck in her head for hours and hours which turned into days upon days and it would just keep going and going around in her head in giant little circles and there was no way to stop it-
-so she'd kidnapped a litter of kits from the nearby kittypet place, because she had to. Shae was counting on her for some new sucklings, after all - and maybe if Yumemi could give the Heda what she wanted, she'd start paying Yumemi a little more attention, a tad more affection. Nothing more than she deserved, of course.
Yumemi winced as she almost tripped over a particularly slow-moving suckling. "Can't you guys move any faster?" she complained, nudging the poor little dude out of her way. "You don't wanna get caught by your old, mean, smelly, nasty parents back at the kittypet place, do you? I'm taking you to your new home, which is waaaaaaay cooler than that dingy old hole in the ground could ever be. We have a stained-glass window!"
Rouge looked at the she-cat, her head tilted to the side. The mostly white she-cat didn't particularly understand why she and her siblings were doing what they were, but she wasn't sure she particularly cared. She figured it would be an interesting excape from the monotony of kitty-pet life, if nothing else. Her ear twitched slightly. If it sucked in wherever Yepepi or whatever her name was taking her, Rouge could always leave and cause some chaos somewhere else, right?
"No, we probably can't," she replied as she watched Yepepi trip over her brother. She smirked at the site; at least it wasn't her that was getting walked over. She wasn't the fastest of the litter either; that honor was left to Shadow or Sonic, whoever was feeling more into it that day. She was much more agile than her quick brothers, though, preferring to stay as high in the air as possible without wings. "You sure this is going to be cool?"
Yumemi-kepa squinted at the suckling. What a rude little girl. "Did you even hear what I said about the stained-glass window?" she said, giving the suckling a small nudge. "C'mon guys, we're almost there! At the start of your new lives! So move it!"
Shadow gave the persistent stranger a dark look. "I don't even know what a stain grass window is," he muttered to Rouge. "Do you know?"
"Who says we even want new lives?" Rouge liked to be a problem, and she surely wasn't going to npot be just because this weird cat wanted to be rushed. Their parents probably wouldn't be around for a while, anyways. She then looked over to Shadow. "Maybe it's like a window with some of those fake plants that the upwalkers kept but stuck to it and not in a pot."
"Don't be a stick in the mud Tails." Sonic complained, nudging the smaller kit and knocking him back to the ground; perhaps a bit to rough for his more timid sibling. "This will be fun!" He laughed as he dashed forward, running circles around Yumemi. "Race me Shadow!" He called, competitive spirit coming to life as he bounced about; to much energy to be contained. "I'm the fastest!" He added for really no reason other than he was annoying like that.
Tails winced as he stumbled to the ground from Sonic running into him. He quickly sprung back to his paws as he scampered after his siblings, breathing ever so heavily as he finally caught up. His ears perked up and he allowed a gentle smile to slide onto his muzzle as Sonic assured him that the trip with the strange she-cat would be fun. "Y-Yeah Sonic! You're right! It will be fun!" His mind had been completely changed.
Shadow growled and chased after Sonic, eager to outrun his brother. "Don't you dare call yourself the fastest," he panted, "until you've raced against me, the ultimate-" He tripped over a rock and fell flat on his face before he had the chance to finish his sentence. "...Owie."
Yumemi had been about to reassure Tails about their new home, but apparently the young kit was easily convinced. She gave Tails a beaming grin before clearing her throat and addressing all the kits, who appeared to be starting to get restless. "Alright, everyone! Thank you for being really good so far! Use up all your energy now, because I want everyone on their best behaviour when we meet up with Shae!"
"Whose Shae? Is she fast?" Sonic asked, peering towards the Yumemi with suspicious eyes. "Because I'm the fastest." He tossed a significant look towards Shadow that spoke of his natural born superiority. Then he beamed towards Tails, happy he could count on his lackey, brother to support him in everything. "Come one lady, race me!" He yelled as he dashed forward, away from the group. No idea where he was going but determined to be the fastest. "Gotta go fast!" He yelled as he dashed off.
Yumemi blinked. "You know, I've never seen Shae properly run..." she mused, "but I'm sure that she wouldn't have been able to become the Heda if she ran like a - hey, wait!" she called out, eyes widening as she saw Sonic's form speeding hastily up ahead. "Come back! That's only kind of in the right direction - eh, who am I kidding, four is almost as good as five. Can't win 'em all!" she grinned to herself, though she still took a second to squint at Sonic up ahead. "...Do any of you wanna go get him?" she asked with a brief glance at Shadow, who appeared to still be angsting over his fall.
Tails was obviously not listening to the conversation as he scampered past his siblings and Yumemi towards Sonic. “W-Wait up Sonic!! I wanna explore too!” He said in-between gasps of air brought on from his running.
Is this crazy lady sure she wants these idiots? Rouge raised a cat eyebrow. Most of the time, she didn't want to be around these idiots, why would someone willingly do so? Her tail twitched slightly, before she turned back to the older cat. "This Shae type better be the coolest cat in the whole world to make up for this," she meowed, for once her sass not ringing out. She was too preoccupied. What did being a feral cat mean for her interestst?
Yumemi frowned as Tails followed after Sonic, but her attention was quickly taken by the she-kit talking to her. "Shae's totally cool," she said, giving Shadow a little bit of help as the tomkit struggled to stand after his tumble. "She's just, like, hard to get to know, and sometimes, like, get along with, but uhh, she's cool!"
Shadow growled as Tails - freaking Tails - raced ahead of him. "Get back here, you two!" he yowled, launching himself after them. "Don't think you can outrun me!"
Yumemi gave a deep sigh. She knew she should probably go after them, but...well, navigating the city on their own felt like a pretty good first 'test', or something of the sort. Besides, now they had kind of a girls' club going on, with all the boys racing each other up ahead. "There's a lot less running, where we're going," she told the remaining two, with somewhat of an apologetic look on her face.
"They do this a lot," Rouge meowed with a shrug. "They'll probably get hit by a monster here not too long from now." She didn't seem too bothered by the idea that her brothers would die; Rouge was seldom bothered by anything that wasn't directly related to her personal interests. "There will probably never be less running honestly. They'll run until their hearts give out. My bet's on Shadow."
Sonic stumbled as the city opened up before him, seeming much more daunting without the older cat or his siblings. The kit blinked before puffing up his chest, some tall buildings and dark streets wouldn't stop him from being the fastest. But as he heard heavy steps behind him he turned and felt some of his bolster become even firmer at the sight of Tails. His trusty sidekick; he could always count on his brother to support him. Even if it was in the stupidest of ventures. "Tails you managed to keep up I see. " He laughed in delight. "Though don't get carried away I didn't go full speed so as to make it easy for you."
Tails gasped for breath as he stood on shaky legs beside Sonic. "Y-" He inhaled before finishing the world. "Y-Yeah!" He perked up at his brothers praise, even if it wasn't really a praise. His tail held up high as his chest went up and down while he tried he to put his breathing back to normal.
Shadow huffed as he caught up to Tails and Sonic, his paw still smarting with pain from his embarrassing stumble. "F-fools!" he hissed in between harsh pants. "A normal cat would have taken two minutes to catch up to you guys, but I, the ultimate lifeform, only took one! How'dya like them apples, eh?"
Yumemi cocked a head as she absorbed Rouge's words. She'd been so confident that she'd made a brilliant decision back when she'd been in the process of stealing this litter, but...perhaps she should have made her actual selection a little more wisely. "You know, a crazy old man once told me that he'd seen a queen give birth to a really dumb litter when they didn't all get enough oxygen during kitbirth," she said with a studious frown. "You think maybe that happened to them? Then again, it could have been something she consumed..."
Rouge let out a chuckle. Yeah, that was probably it. "Maybe," she shrugged, a cat-brow raised. This probably would implicate that she herself was not the smartest feline around, but at least she wasn't her brothers. "You sure whereever you're taking us will even want them?" It was a question that came out smoothly as she blinked. It was then that Shadow's claim of ultimate life form echoed towards the two she-cats. She snorted at the ideal. "Idiots, the whole buncha them."
i really need to do more character research to get her dialogue in character but here we are.
[ i'll have you know I watched the whole animated show for Sonic, and watched all the movies. can't help you with rouge though because sonic is a show self-absorbed with its main character ]
"Really? Because it sounds like Rouge and the strange cat who took us are nearly here." Sonic pointed out as the sound of Rouge and Yumemi's steps reached his ear. Giving Shadow a sardonic smirk that sat oddly on his young features. "Either way I am as always the fastest and you two will keep living in my dust trails unless you work harder." Reaching over he patted Tails condescendingly on the head. "Don't worry though I'll help you because family is important. Except you Shadow, you're on your own. Rouge is too."
"You don't all have to be smart, I think," Yumemi mused. "Honestly, like we have a whole position for cats we just use as punching bags. And we always need more punching bags," she added, giving a brief glance to the three kits who had run ahead. They had almost caught up, and Yumemi realised a little too late she had probably been speaking too loudly. "Um, just kidding!"
Shadow gave Yumemi and Rouge a suspicious glance, his attention momentarily drifting away from insulting Sonic. "What was that about punching bags?"
