Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Cardinalstar trotted up to the nursery. It was a beautiful late spring morning and the sun was out and the birds were chirping, the hunting and border patrols had already been assigned and Cardinalstar found himself with some free time on this beautiful day which made him realize that he wanted to spend some quality time with his family. "Dovekit, Cardinalkit, Shiningkit?" Cardinalstar called out to his kits, peeking into the nursery.
Lightstep Lay curled partially around her kits. They were getting big, soon they’d be apprentices. At the sound of a voice calling her kits names she lifted her head, and jumped when she came nose to nose with Cardinalstar. She bristled for a second annoyed at being startled before letting her fur lie flat. “Cardinalstar,” she meowed drawing out his name as she tried to figure out where to go from there. She and Cardinalstar had an on again off again relationship before having kits, and then when they’d finally decided to go steady things fell apart. Some things went right, with Lightstep expecting her mates kits. She’d felt content then, certain in their future together. then peachstar stepped down and Cardinalstar had stepped aside for Eternalstar than step up. Now that they’d returned Lightstep no longer felt the same betrayal she’d first felt. Now her feelings felt clouded, uncertain. Could they move past all that had happened.
... Lightstep didn’t have an answer at that moment so instead she dipped her head to him and rose to her paws. “I’m going to go grab some fresh kill and rest in the sun. Don’t let them wander off on you.” She said side stepping any messy conversation they truly needed to have. But not in front of the kits.
///—-/// Lightstep rising out of the nest roused Cardinalkit, the ginger Tom kit blinking open his sleepy eyes and looking around blinking up at his father. “Hi dad, what are you doing here?” He asked.
"Daddy!" Dovekit chirped, bounding over to Cardinalstar and jumping on him. She didn't get to see him very often so when he came to visit, she was always so excited to see him.
"I won't let them out of my sight!" He promised Lightstep. He made a mental note to speak to her later. Not in front of the kits. She seemed less angry with him since things were returning to normal and he felt he owed her an apology at the very least. He laughed when Dovekit jumped on him. "I had some free time and I wanted to spend it with you three!" He answered his son.
___
Shiningkit climbed over her brother and out of their nest and promptly pounced on Cardinalstar's tail, giggling.
Dovekit bounced, "Thats a great idea, Shiningkit! Let's explore the territory!" She looked at her father with a smirk, "We can play an exploring game! And you did say we can play any game we want!"
Cardinalstar stared down at his kits with wide eyes. He'd just gotten himself into a bit of a tangle. He knew if he took them out Lightstep would likely claw his ears off, but he did promise them any game they wanted. "Um... I think I'll have to ask your mother about that, little ones!" he responded glancing over his shoulder. "Lightstep?" he called.
Cardinalstar glanced over his shoulder again. Lightstep was in a sunny spot, eating and he didn't really want to disturb her, he glanced down at his kits. They were almost old enough to be apprenticed and old enough to behave and listen to directions. He could take them on a short walk to the Japanese Garden. It was a safe place. Hard for them to get lost. "How about I take you three to see the Garden?" he suggested.
____
"Yes! Yes! Yes!" Shiningkit squealed in excitement jumping up and down.
Cardinalstar sighed. "Alright, let's go. But you must behave and do as I say. Absolutely no wandering off. Do I make myself clear?" he asked glancing between all three kits. ____
"Clear!" Shiningkit responded instantly and firmly.
Not bothering to wait for anyone Shiningkit bolted out of the camp and into SpringClan's territory.
____
"We'll be heading left when we get out of camp." Cardinalstar said to Dovekit. Out of the corner of his eye he caught Shiningkit bolt out of camp. "Shiningkit!" He called to her.
Shiningkit stopped as soon as she heard her name called out and darted back into camp. "Sorry!" She said, returning to her father and littermate's side.
___
"Don't do that again." Cardinalstar said firmly before continuing towards the camp entrance. He stopped before exiting the camp. "Just remember, do exactly as I tell you to do and do not wander off." he said, leading the way out of SpringClan's camp.
