Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Mangopaw sighed in contentment as she let her pelt soak up the rays of the sun, the barest beginnings of summer a welcome change from the present season. She liked spring well enough - her Clan was named after it, so she kind of had to - but she didn't particularly care for the pink, if she was being honest. She was just about to turn over and let her other side get some warmth too, when the sudden snapping of a twig startled her from her daydreams. "...Hello?" she called out, frowning. After the rough couple of months SpringClan had gone through, she was expecting the worst.
"Sorry! I didn't mean to disturb you!" Greycloud called, slipping out from the undergrowth. "I was tracking a vole and I lost its scent." She added dejectedly. The grey she-cat hardly ever missed a catch. She wasn't on a patrol, just simply hunting for the fun of it so at least she wasn't expected to bring anything back. "It's a nice day to be enjoying the sun though!" she said settling down in a patch of sunlight, the energetic she-cat hardly ever stopped moving long enough to enjoy a snooze in the sun.
Mangopaw lifted her head to snap a retort at the warrior, but eventually decided against it. Too nice a day indeed, she thought, and I'm too happy here in the sun to really extert any more effort. "Sorry about the vole," she replied, laying her head back down on her paws. "You should try it, you know. Lying down and doing nothing, I mean. It's good for wounded egos." She blinked, a sense of horror beginning to wash over her. That...did not come out like I meant it to.
"Do you have a wounded ego?" Greycloud asked Mangopaw curiously. Greycloud's notoriously carefree and overly friendly personality made it so she hardly ever took anything personally and usually didn't grasp subtle hints the first time anyway.
Mangopaw eyed the she-cat for a few seconds, unsure if she was off the hook or not. "...Yes," she eventually relented, "all the time." That wasn't a lie, at least. Mangopaw's dignity felt very rarely intact, these days. "A vole may have skittered by here a few moments back, but, umm...good lcuk finding it now that you've stopped to talk to me. Sorry."
"I'm not worried about that vole." Greycloud responded, waving her tail dismissively. "But why is your ego always wounded?" Greycloud asked curiously. She hated knowing something was bothering one of her Clanmates, and was always willing to lend a listening ear, even if she wasn't the best at giving advice.
"I-well, um..." Mangopaw frowned and took a second to ponder that question over. Why was her ego always wounded? "...I guess it's just intrinsically a part of my personality and irreparably entangled within my life now," she finally answered, shrugging. "If it wasn't always wounded, I don't know if I'd know what to do with myself."
"Wow! Um... okay." Greycloud responded with wide eyes, staring at Mangopaw. In this exact moment she was happy her emotions were never that complicated. She was always happy, carefree, and just glad to be alive. "Something had to happen to make you that way...." She added, interested, seeing if she could prompt Mangopaw to say more.
Mangopaw shrugged again. "Maybe..." she murmured, gazing off somewhere into the distance vaguely. For reasons unknown to her, she wasn't really in the mood for making eye contact right then. "Maybe it had to do with Peachstar - I mean, Peachblush leaving, or whatever. I dunno, I kinda just assumed everyone is like that, all the time. I mean, aren't you?"
Mangopaw gave Greycloud a sour look. No one is happy all the time, she thought bitterly, but she didn't voice that particular thought out loud. Instead, she merely shrugged. "I dunno. We were close for a while when he brought me to the Clan, but we weren't really close after that. He was busy, I was..." Annoying, she thought.
"Ahh, yes, the deputy and leader positions usually occupy a lot of one's time. I never envied those in positions of power." Greycloud stated with a dismissive flick of her tail. "Where did you live before Peachblush brought you to the Clan?"
