Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Okay, Shadedsun, first patrol as deputy! Let's go. He urged himself, his tail twitching with excitement. He quickly ran his tongue through his thick black pelt, determined to look as presentable as he could, and strode out of the den. His bright yellow eyes swept the camp, searching for the two cats he had in mind. They were going on a patrol to investigate the new dog smells that seemed to swarm the Japanese Garden and that general area. Every other day there seemed to be a new scent. "Wolfspider, Brambletalon, you good for a patrol?" He asked, approaching them. It still felt weird to talk to his clanmates with authority, so he settled for his usual laid-back tone. "There's new dog scent near the Garden and Cardinalstar wants us to check it out." He explained, lifting his head high.
Wolfspider nodded in response and rose to his paws. He was happy things were slowly getting back to normal within their Clan. "We've never had a dog problem before. Let's hope it was just passing through." he said warily. The last thing he wanted was more confrontation.
"Yeah, but there seems to be fresh scent almost every day." He explained as he led the patrol out of camp. "Near the Garden." Shadedsun led them through the territory. The humid air made his mouth dry and his pelt itch, but he ignored it. He fell in beside Wolfspider, his tail raised high above his back. "I'm so glad that we're getting back on our feet." He chatted, filling the silence. "Once the camp is rebuilt it'll be almost like normal."
"Me too," Wolfspider replied, truthfully he'd been hurt by the fact that his mother had chosen to stay with the rogues when he and his sister left with Cardinalstar and she even had the nerve to stay around SpringClan after they'd come back and act like nothing had happened, like it was all normal. At least he was proving to be a better cat than either of his parents were. "It's been a tough few moons but I hope the worst is behind us. I think it is."
"If we can get through this, we can get through anything," Shadedsun smiled. "The worst is definately over." He was silent for a moment, admiring the nature around him. They reached the cherry blossoms, large trees with beautiful pink petals. A few fell around them, littering the stone path beneath them with speckles of pink. It smelled wonderful here and it was one of Shadedsun's favourite places. The humidity still swarmed the air, making his throat dry.
Wolfspider glanced up, admiring the cherry blossoms. "It's so odd, how a place so peaceful and relaxing can become a place so full of evil and chaos." he remarked. "First, SpringClan saw Tarantulastar and then Cicero. So many unnecessary deaths. And this humidity. This humidity is going to be the death of me!" He sighed. Although his fur was relatively short, it was thick, a trait he so unfortunately shared with his father, Tarantulastar.
He shook out his head, subsequently shaking away the conversation of all the bad that has happened in SpringClan. It was better that they moved past it. They were events left for time now, a learning experience. "Not if it kills me first! I feel like I'm already halfway there, with this thick fur of mine. It's like I'm just soaking up the sun over here. Hey, when we're done with this patrol we could probably go to the river, it should be cooler over there."
Ahead, the Garden was starting to unfold in his vision. He broke into a jog, only slowing when he entered. "It should be over..." He moved just past the shimmering water, reflected by the sun and completely still, to the space beyond. Dog scent filled his nose, running down his throat. "...here. Yeah, one must've passed by today. It's so strong." He gave the area another sniff, his nose twitching in distaste from the scent.
"The river sounds like a wonderful idea." Wolfspider agreed, his nose curling at the stench of dog. For the most part, although strong. It smelled like they were gone. Until the breeze lifted slightly and fresh scent hit Wolfspider's nose. Fresh dog scent! "Shadedsun, I think they might still be here..." He growled, slowly back towards the deputy, guarding his back and staring into the undergrowth. They were potentially outnumbered and they didn't yet know how big the dogs were.
New scent filled the air, smelly and strong. Several tail-lengths away a shape wiggled about, small and multi-coloured. He stared at it with concern. "It doesn't seem so big, and I think there's only one." A bark rattled the air, annoyingly loud. Another one joined it, a there might have been one more, but Shadedsun wasn't so sure. Another shape joined the first one. They barked some more, and it seemed as though he could feel their paws thrumming the earth as they ran closer, their barks and growls becoming louder.
Shadedsun felt his fur rise on end, and a growl of his own rose in his throat. He looked even bigger now, with his thick fur fluffed up. "I'd prepare for a fight." He hissed, unsheathing his claws.
(How many dogs should there be, I was thinking maybe two or three. More small-to-medium sized.)
(let's do 3 since we have the 3 cats on the patrol)
A fight. Wolfspider sighed internally. He felt like he'd done enough fighting for one lifetime already, but the dogs were nearly upon them, so he fluffed up his thick pelt, making himself twice as large as usual and unsheathed his claws. "I wish two legs would just keep to their own land for StarClan's sake!" Wolfspider growled, his gaze darting back and forth between the dogs, waiting for the right time to attack. At least they were small, but small almost meant fast.
Shadedsun's fur stood on end, his breath came short, and his tail lashed with aggression. "Once they're done with us, they'll never wanna step foot in SpringClan territory again!" He hissed, bearing his rather large teeth. Three dogs burst into the Garden, their jaws wide and drooling, the collars around their neck jingling. Shadedsun hesitated for a moment, thoughts running through his head too fast to catch them. One of the dogs, a medium-sized one with floppy ears, snapped its teeth at him. Shadedsun lashed out his claws and caught it on the nose. He smelled a little blood, so he must have cut deep. Behind him, he heard the commotion of the other two dogs and prayed to StarClan that they would be alright. He wished he could turn back and help them, but he couldn't. Shadedsun crouched down, bunching his muscles, and leaped at the dog. His weight, landing on its shoulders, was enough to knock it to the ground.
Wolfspider spat angrily at a little tri colored dog with pointy ears. Its legs were short but the dog was quick and it would not stop yapping. The dog lunged for Wolfspider and he recoiled backwards, putting most of his weight into his haunches and striking out at the dogs face. His large paws connected hard with the dogs jaw and he heard it cry out in pain. Behind him he could hear Shadedsun fighting with the other dog and he hoped he was holding his own. Wolfspider struck out again at the dog, this time raking his claws down its back.
