Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
It had been her decision, but yet she couldn't help but feel like she had made a mistake.
Littlebird could still smell his scent that clung to her pelt, the last remnant of the last night she would ever spend with the first love of her life. She looked into the cool waters before her, knowing that she needed to rid herself of it before her clan-mates smelled it. Even so, she was reluctant. In doing so, it meant that it was really over. It meant things between them would change forever, that she would have stand by at watch him with another. Yet what else was she to do? They were from different worlds now, and only disaster would result if he knew the truth of why she had ended things. Her clan would never allow the kits she now carried to be raised in WinterClan, and Leatherfern... no Leatherstar now, would not allow himself to be excluded from the life of his kits.
Fate was cruel to play with her heart in this way...
Skipstep had been worried about Littlebird when he'd gone to the camp and found she wasn't there. After interacting with her and becoming close, helped by his position of Janus and she as the Priestess Promised. He'd grown closer and closer to her. But when he couldn't find her after visiting camp... wanting to ask her if perhaps she'd like to be more than friends... she was suddenly not there.
It was too much like Hazelcascade.
Pulse pounding he looked around the territory, mouth open dragging in deep gulps of air trying to catch a whiff...
When he finally caught her scent he hurried in the direction, his eyes lighting up with and relief almost making his chest feel like it was going to burst. He could see the shape of her in the distance and he quickened his pace.
"Littlebird!" He gasped panting as he came up to her. "Where've you been I've been..." He trailed off as he detected a faint scent, ears pricking forwards and eyes narrowing. "Why.... does it smell like WinterClan?" He asked.
The cold water lapped at her paws, as the sound of approaching footsteps made her ears swiveled towards where Skipstep emerged. She turned her head, but the smile that appeared quickly appeared was suddenly gone as he questioned her about the scent of WinterClan.
I went to visit my old home" going out of SunClan territory was not forbidden, in fact it was often encouraged. She took another step into the water, freezing as the cold water reached her stomach. She looked over at Skipstep, the concern in his eyes making her heart skip a beat. She hadn't lied to him, but neither had she told him the whole truth. She trusted Skipstep, but knowing this could put him in danger should the truth ever come out.
She took a deep breathe and dived under the water, trying to avoid the questions that were sure to come. Questions that she wasn't sure she was ready to answer just yet.
Skipstep shuffled his paws when she said she'd gone back to visit WinterClan.
While it was true that leaving SunClan or trespassing on another clan wasn't forbidden in the laws that governed SunClan, Skipstep couldn't deny the way his pelt prickled uncomfortably. Hazelcascade had been formerly from MoonClan before becoming the Soothsayer... Now here was Littlebird priestess promised formerly of WinterClan...
"Do you want to return to your old home?" Skipstep asked. Such a thing was treasonous, especially for one of Littlebird's stature... but Skipstep asked it anyways.
"Perhaps I did once..." she replied as she resurfaced. Water droplet falling from her long coat into the flowing waters around her. "WinterClan was my home... WinterClan is where my ancestors are buried... WinterClan was my birth right" she paused and gazed upon him, her gentle golden eyes holding their own
"But WinterClan holds nothing for me now. The clan I once called my own sees me as a traitor. Cats that I once considered friends sneer at the mere mention of my name" That much was true. There were very few cats within the clan that would have supported her return, and now that she had made an enemy of Leatherstar, she suspected that number had dwindled even farther. "WinterClan has changed into something I don't even recognize. They worship new gods, call themselves by strange titles, and dishonor what my father stood for. I long for what I once knew, but it no longer exists. The cats who made WinterClan great are gone... or despise me" she added the last part after a few moments of silence, hurt filling her tone.
Skipstep listened intently and he moved to stand beside her. "I'm sorry." He meowed. "That is very difficult."
He waited a moment taking a deep breath. "It's hard to lose something you love... be it a home... cats you love... or even both." He wrapped his tail around his paws. "I can't imagine losing your place, but I know how hard it was at times to find a place in SunClan way back when me and Jetclaw first were brought here with our mother. We were kittypets. Well we'd been born kittypets, but our mother brought us here so she wouldn't have to be separated from us... then she got sick as did my little sister..." He bowed his head.
"But you're priestess promised, you can't reclaim the WinterClan your parents had before. But you can claim SunClan's future. Your parents will look on what you make here, and be proud." Skipstep meowed. "Make this clan better than that clan. You have that power. and..." He looked to the side. "You'll have cats who are willing to help you."
"If only it were that simple" she replied. She was touched that he was willing to share that with her. Most cats wouldn't admit to being former kitty-pets, much less that their entire family had been. It wasn't something to share lightly. "I may be the priestess promised, but I am under no illusion that the clan is happy about it. They had accepted my assention because the Sun God willed it, but many still see me as an outsider. Perhaps I am... No mater how I try, I can not change my past... especially now that I carry part of that past with me" she paused, only now realizing what she had said. It was vague enough that most cats wouldn't infer that she was pregnant, but she couldn't hold it in anymore.
