Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
DYSANIA(noun) – the state of finding it hard to get out of bed in the morning.
She had never been a mentor before, despite her long moons as a voiny. Part of her was excited but another part of her was just annoyed. She'd lived her life in relative peace, following the same routine day in and day out. Now she had another task to do and another person to try to get used to. The kicker? She didn't have much choice in the matter. She never found Rune... difficult to admire, as he left her alone most of the time, but with this new responsibility she felt like it was a personal attack. And for it to be his last act as Tsar before handing the throne to a kadet? She snorted and shook her head, the fur around her face swaying. Choosing to tamp down her frustration and try to be the best role model she could be for the kadet, she sat down in the training hollow, awaiting her arrival. She knew she was aware of what day it was; if she stood her up, it would be direct disrespect.
Fikre padded towards the training hollow, steps soft as she maneuvered across the wet ground. The spring rains bringing marshy weather that quickly caused the fur of her paws to be weighted down with gathered mud. The rivers and brooks would be bursting at their banks soon. She could have avoided the worst of it but didn't care nearly enough to do so, simply hoping to get the day over with. Not looking forward to first introductions or anything of the sort; not fond of meeting new cats. Still her mentor didn't seem a she-cat she could easily avoid so he held her head high as she entered the hollow, giving a brief dip of her neck in greeting. Haunting golden eyes focusing on the voiny and awaiting instruction.
Trinity seemed to deflate in disappointment before she dragged herself to her paws and straightened out her posture. She had never felt more like a podarok in her life; all she wanted to do was kick her feet and whine to Rune that she didn't want to be a mentor, let alone to one just as stubborn as she was. This was going to be painful for the both of them. She inhaled a deep breath, trying to calm her already fraying nerves. "Okay, look. We both don't want to be here so to make it easier on the both of us: I don't want any sort of relationship out of this. I'm your mentor, you're my kadet. My job is to train you so that you don't get killed out on the battlefield. I'm not your friend." She nodded. "If we can have that understood, we can carry on about this with relative ease."
"Do you have no friends then?" Fikre responded before she thought better of it, still young and unable to heed her words before she spoke them more often than not. "Sorry. It's just you're speaking like a voiny who considers themselves a lone wolf but in truth just turns around anyone who wants to befriend them. There are a couple pother kadets like that." She continued, despite the slight rambling undertone to her words they were spoken succinctly. Doing a good job of hiding her nervousness towards her mentors reaction to her words. "But either way I understand, no relationships to be formed here."
She stiffened at the kadet's words, eyes narrowing as she regarded her. For being so young, she was quite wise. Too wise. She had little experience to base her sage words off of, yet she'd hit the nail on the head, and that only unsettled and further upset the unwilling voiny. Part of her wanted to answer her questions. No, I don't have any friends. I only have my sister and we don't spend any time together. Yes, I'm afraid of being close to anyone. Instead, she clamped her lips shut for a solid two minutes before continuing her lecture. "Very good. Now, to begin your first lesson: technique." She circled her, observing her stature, the way she held herself, her balance. "Have you experimented with your crouches when you were a podarok?"
