Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Her paws ached. That was the throbbing thought — much like her paws — that hovered at the back of her head. After what seemed like eons of hunting, she'd found her paws were almost to the point of bleeding. However, an idea had struck her. She'd heard medicinal cats of likeness talk about how cool water could take pain and swelling down, and so that was what she intended to do. Not a doubt lingered in the back of her mind as she headed towards a river made for such things. The slender white and orange marked she-cat paused at the waters edge and then slowly eased herself into the cold depths of the water. Koispirit's fur lifted along her spine.
At first a gasp rippled from her chest. But the the sharp pain of cold began to numb the ache in her paws until she sighed in slight relief. However it was this that caused the next of events to unfold. She found herself leaning forward a tad too much, and found herself teetering dangerously towards the edge. Panic surged through her chest, like the panic you'd feel if you expected to tread on solid ground and instead were met with soft. Except for the soft ground, she was met with translucent and shockingly cold water. She let out a cry of shock as her head plunged under and her pelt weighed her down into the water. The worst part was she didn't know how to swim that well. This, and the very strong sense of dread, made her cry feebly and thrash wildly like a fox caught in a trap. Too bad she didn't realize the water wasn't exactly that deep.
Fawnheart had been out in the forest when she noticed the struggling she-cat. Leaping into action, she plunged into the cold water. She could just barely touch though her head was above water. She didnt think this cat knew that it was within standing depths. She grabbed Koispirit by the scruff and dragged her to more shallow waters until she hit land. She checked her clanmate to make sure she was breathing.
Her heart thumping madly, she indeed had felt it was shallow and had immediately felt a wash of embarrassment. The fluffy furred she-cat gave her chest fur a couple of licks, her pride feeling immensely damaged. "S-sorry you had to do that; I didn't realize... just panicked is all. I'm not very good at swimming and it was cold," Koispirit said with a duck of her head. "Please don't tell anyone, I think I'd die of embarrassment. Plus, I don't think it'd be super impressive to hear the Clan's Deputy almost drowned... in shallow water..."
Fawnheart's amber eyes softened more so than usual. "Don't worry. I won't tell anyone" the previous Springclan medicine cat responded, her voice soft and understanding. "Your not hurt are you?"
Koispirit shook her head, making sure to check everything before responding, "Nope! Not besides my utter embarrassment." Padding a little ways away from the she-cat so that she wouldn't spray her, she shook out her pelt and sent tiny diamond like droplets scattering everywhere. "There we go. At least now my fur will dry a bit faster. Longer fur makes it harder to get dry."
"I'm glad you aren't hurt." She honestly felt bad for Koispirit, having her pride hurt. "It's okay to feel embarrassed. I have done pretty silly things too" she twitched her whiskers in amusement as she remembered some of her embarrassing moments that were now funny.
Koispirit gave a small laugh, glad at least that she hadn't been caught by someone who would have teased her about it. Though her pelt clung to her frame and was now damp, she at least felt a bit more heartened. "Thanks. If my fa— ahm, sister had seen me, I would never have lived this down." She'd almost said her Father; who was most assuredly not with them anymore. It was easy to slip up on the most simple of things.
