[ in which Halsey, an obsessive she-cat who longs for that one true love and falls for others very quickly, grieves over her most recent lost 'love' and daydreams of a perfect life. Tears streamed down her white face as she stumbled through the treelike, coming across one of the seemingly endless streams of BrookClan's territory. Falling into the water, she found herself torn between standing and removing herself from the chilled spring waters or laying there and giving up, unable to continue on. Sighing, the image of her brother's face flashing before her eyes, she sat up straight but didn't remove herself from the waters, the cold stream lapping at her pelt and soaking her. She only just barely felt the pins and needles of the icy water. Why did she continue to wear her heart on her sleeve? She only ended up getting hurt. She thought it'd be different this time, that she'd tell him how she felt and he'd reciprocate. That she'd finally get her happy ending. But instead... She remembered the regretful look on the face, the way he looked around as if searching desperately for help. As if she was a monster that he needed to get away from lest he lose his life. She wasn't that awful... was she? She stared down into her rippling reflection.
"Why?" She whispered, seeing her own mouth move in the mirror. She growled and splashed at it.

"Why what?" Nadia wasn't a cat who got out much. In fact, she was very much a cat others stayed away from, at times. Cynical and cold, with a personality that cut herself off from happiness before she ever got the chance. In some ways, her situation wasn't too different from that of Halsey's kits, though the knowledge she carried was a secret that would die with her, rather than one that would risk the lives of others.
Jumping in surprise and scowling briefly, the she-cat wiped her face free of tears and took a moment to calm her breathing before looking over at the she-cat. How blunt and disrespectful it was, she thought to herself, not to greet another but instead to question them. As if they'd been listening the whole time. As if they had a right to know. "Nothing." She muttered, turning away from her and staring back into the water. The longer she remained silent, though, the more she burned for relief until finally she snapped. "Why does love have to be so hard?"
