Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The subject of Earthclan's Medicine Cat was one that most of the clan went out of their way to avoid talking about, and they had good reason for it. Solsticestar had gone out of her way to choose a four-moon-old kit to fill the position, and had to ask a former one from Sunclan to come and teach him. To say it was a controversial decision was putting it lightly; some warriors would swear the kit's mother still refused to speak to their leader when she didn't have to. But what was more concerning to them was how little they ever saw of the chosen young tom. After he was promoted, the newly made apprentice spent almost every waking hour cooped up inside the Medicine Den, only ever leaving the hollow to eat and drink, or to go out into the territory to fetch more herbs.
It had been nearly a moon and a half since then, and very few members of Earthclan could claim they ever had a conversation with their own Medicine Cat.
That's why it came as such a surprise to everyone when they woke up one Newleaf morning, to find a broad-shouldered ginger tom with a white jaw and chest lounging lazily outside the Medicine Den in the sunlight, looking so serene that if one of his green eyes wasn't open, anyone would think that he was fast asleep. Most cats who noticed him flet awkward and unsure of how to approach, deciding to just leave the apprentice be and go about their own business. But as the Medicine Cat relaxed, he felt the stare of one of his clanmates watching him for far too long for his own liking.
"What do you want?" Firepaw snapped, turning his head towards the feline staring at him.
The cat that had been watching him had dark orange fur with black stripes and a black tipped tail. Her eyes were a pale green and they were fixed on Firepaw. She honestly looked quite shocked at his reaction to her watching him. "Pardon me for disturbing you. I just hadn't seen you before so I thought I would introduce myself." Tigerfur hadn't been in EarthClan long. She was the newest memeber actually and she had been trying her best to get aquainted with everyone. EarthClan was still foreign to her and while she was trying her best to learn their ways, she was still struggling to understand everything. It was just a lot for her to take in all at once. After a moment, her shock was replaced by a smile. This tom was hardly more than a kit. "You certainly have a lot of spirit for a little guy. What is your name?"
The young tom narrowed his eyes at her, staring at her for a few seconds apprehensively. He...really didn't recognize this she-cat. Was she new to Earthclan? Taking a breath to compose himself and let the fur standing up on his back smooth down again, he lifted his head off of the ground and adjusted his resting position. "I'm not little," he meowed gruffly in reply, wrinkling his nose in distaste. Aside from the apparent offense he took to the comment of his size, his tone made him sound almost disinterested in the conversation. "My name's Firepaw," he finally added in after a moment, like he'd almost forgotten. "I'm Earthclan's Medicine Cat, I guess." The apprentice spat out the title as if it was a bitter taste in his mouth. He'd never get used to it for as long as he lived. Firepaw glanced her over again, taking a mental note of the odd, exotic stripes that marked her pelt. "And who are you supposed to be?"
"My name is apparently Tigerfur now. I used to be called Valeriya, but when I joined EarthClan Solsticestar renamed me Tigerfur." She supposed she did look like a tiger if one was going by her markings. There was also the fact that she was longer and larger than most cats. She was by no means the largest cat in the clan, but she was definitely above average. "Calling you little was not an insult small one. Most cats are small to me. It is a family trait I suppose. My brothers were larger than me." She offered him a big smile despite his apparent bitterness. "Come now. You can show me around the camp. You look like you could use some air." She didn't seem to mind his ill mood. Instead, it just made her smile more.
Firepaw lifted a brow incredulously, his tail lashing behind him in irritation. What was this she-cat's deal? She seemed so...insistant on getting to know him. Hadn't she gotten the memo from literally any of the other warriors in Earthclan, who actively avoided him if they could help it? "Are you serious?" he muttered with a scowl, yet despite himself, he suddenly found himself slowly rising to his paws anyway. If doing this small chore meant he'd be left alone sooner, than why not? Best case scenario, his parents would notice and would finally get off his tail about 'needing interaction' with his clanmates. "Fine. I guess you can follow me, Tigerfur," the Medicine Cat grumbled, before turning around to face the tree hollow directly behind him.
"This is the Medicine Den. It's where I live now. Sick or injured cats show up here, and Solsticestar forces me to take care of them."
