Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
1) Leopardblaze sat patiently near the camp entrance, running a paw over his hears. His dark ginger pelt flecked with amber was nearly invisible in the darkness. There was only a tiny sliver of the moon showing tonight which meant that the forest would be dark and confusing for someone who didn't know their way around it and that's exactly why he chose tonight as Crescentpaw's first night of training. Crescentpaw was his first apprentice and he was excited to finally be given the privilege of mentoring, it would enable him to watch his own kit's training more closely now as well, considering his kits were Crescentpaw's denmates.
2) Crescentpaw always found that he thrived under the cover of near darkness, and tonight was no exception. While his mentor was nearly invisible the jet black form of Crescentpaw's body slipped across the camp like a shadow, blending and melding with the darkness of the night. The only thing that truly gave him away were his eyes, violently blue orbs that reflected navy in the low light. He approached his mentor, stopping a few tail-lengths from him. A bright smile blossomed on the tom's face, his head tilting to the side as he looked at Leopardblaze. "Good evening."
3) Leopardblaze fixed his turquoise gaze onto Crescentpaw and gave a warm smile. "Good evening, excited to begin training?" he asked, rising to his paws.
4) "I was born ready." Crescentpaw had a hard time containing his excitement, and he shifted from foot to foot as he looked as his mentor. "What will we be doing tonight? I'm ready to learn to fight." He tail drifted up in the air as he spoke, a slinky shadow silhouetted by the murky moonlight. Already his form was more muscled and brawny than his sisters, and he had had a propensity for battle since his early days.
5) Leopardblaze purred with amusement as he padded out of camp. "We will start with hunting techniques and then move onto some basic battle moves and then move onto a hunt." he answered Crescentpaw. "You will find that you'll very often use your hunting techniques in battle so don't discredit the importance of learning how to become a great hunter!" he added. He remembered how much he wanted to learn how to fight when he was an apprentice but he was grateful to Shadowheart for teaching him how to be such a skilled hunter.

Crescentpaw moved beside his mentor, eyes bright and alert as he followed Leopardblaze. "Makes sense." He didn't particularly want to focus on hunting, but he supposed he would do so if necessary. "When are we gonna patrol the territory? Are we gonna fight any other warriors? How long til I can go to a Gathering?" The low timbre of his voice carried as he picked his way through the undergrowth, gingerly moving his paws over the twigs on the ground.
( Thank you so much for moving this thread over!! XD )
Leopardblaze smiled to himself at all of Crescentpaw's questions. "Do you want to patrol the territory before we head to the training hollow?" he offered, glancing down at Crescentpaw. "But no we will not fight any other warriors while we are out today, unless of course, they cross the border and if you keep on your best behavior I will promise to take you to the next gathering, how about that?" Leopardblaze purred in amusement. He was thrilled that Crescentpaw was so excited to train.
"Those are all pretty good deals." The tomcat responded after mulling it over. "Let's patrol the territory first! I haven't seen much of it but I really want to." Crescentpaw found his paws aching- he hadn't walked this much as a kit- but he pushed through. The moonlight spilled through the branches and was absorbed by the inky coloring of his sleek coat, outlining him in shadow.
Leopardblaze's whiskers twitched in amusement. "Alright, which parts would you like to see?" he asked, turning his paws in the direction of the moorland. He planned to visit that place anyway, it was a great place for hunting rabbits and it was absolutely breathtaking in the moonlight. "I want to scope out the moorland first though." he added.
"Any place is fine, really." Crescentpaw's jet fur was slightly puffed against the bracing wind, but he looked excited regardless. "I haven't seen the moorland, we can definitely go there. Isn't that where the rabbits are?"
"Yes!" Leopardblaze answered in an upbeat tone. "Rabbits are my favorite to hunt. They take speed, wit, and precision to catch." he added. "I used to hunt here a lot with Emberburn when we were apprentices." he added thoughtfully, thinking back on his days of training.
Crescentpaw considered that, moving alongside his mentor. He had never been the fastest- his sister had always outpaced him in speed and precision. But maybe his blunt strength would transfer to rabbit hunting. At any rate, he was willing to try it.
"I don't think I've eaten rabbit before. What does it taste like?" He piped up after a moment, cerulean eyes catching on the watery moonlight.
Leopardblaze stopped at the edge of the forest, where the trees gave way to the long moorland grass, silver in the moonlight. He'd seen it like this many times, but to him it was breathtaking every single time. He was silent for a few moments, taking in the quiet whisper of the wind traveling through the grass, making it sway back and forth. A few lightning bugs hovered above the grass, giving off little flickers of orange light here and there. "It depends on the season," Leopardblaze answered. "they can taste gamey and be stringy during leaf bare when food is scarce, but usually they're nice and plump." He answered. "I want you to explore the moorland tonight though." Leopardblaze added, padding into the tall grass.
The younger tom simply nodded at that, slipping among the silvery glass with a faint appreciation in his eyes. It was more beautiful than the camp, that was for sure, but he had never been one to dwell upon the aesthetic of nature. Instead, he focused his attention on capturing all the scents around him, following his mentor's steps.
"How often do we come out here?" Crescentpaw asked, lifting the stormy blue of his irises to the older cat.
"We try not to over hunt here. If we do the rabbits will eventually leave as well as mice and occasional bird you'll find here, but I'll come here quite often to be alone with my thoughts for awhile." he answered, meeting Crescentpaw's gaze. "What do you smell?" Leopardblaze asked, impressed that a cat as young as Crescentpaw thought to first take in the scents around him.
Crescentpaw stopped to think- he was only in the habit of smelling, and still didn't quite know what each scent was. "Ah... dirt? And grass. Something smells hearty, if that makes sense- I bet it's the mice." The tom paused to press his black nose to the ground again, inhaling deeply.
"And a scent I don't recognize. I think it's rabbit- it smells... savory. I guess I only think about them in terms of food." He chuffed, a little embarrassed.
Leopardblaze twitched his whiskers in amusement. "That's correct!" he answered, taking in the scents around them as well. "You'll eventually learn to distinguish the distinctive scent of every type of prey in the forest." he added with a hint of laughter in his voice. He padded deeper into the grass, a rabbit burrow catching his gaze. "The rabbit you smelled lives in there. Never follow an animal down their burrow." he added, glancing seriously at Crescentpaw.
