Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Sunlight crept in like a bandit, silently seeping inside till it filtered itself a dim glow through the entire den, a soft stream of gold that filled the room like sunrise's aureate perfume. Morning's cloak was golden, and it wrapped the shadows until there were shadows no longer, the sun's rays feasted on the darkness as if it was its sole energy to rise itself higher into the heavens and turn dawn to day. It was not the slow intrusion of sunlight that woke the sleeping kitten, however. Instead it was a hint too merry nightingale that decided it wanted to enjoy the last moments of its song before the larks took their place in the forest orchestra, and it had chosen to sing its powerful melody right over Mindlesskit's side of the den.
With a heavy groan the kitten rolled to his paw, then padded his way outside to turn and look at the little bird that had taken upon itself to be his wake up call. Among the tiny speckling green of new leaves sat the little brown thrush that - as if it knew exactly what it had done and exactly who he was - paused its song to stare down at the kitten with its black almond eyes. They seemed empty and clever all at once, and for a moments it seemed to be looking straight into the kit with its curious little gaze, its head tilting as if in some contemplation much deeper and greater than the tiny vessel its mind and soul resided in. Then, after a few quiet seconds, it moved in the same perky way of all little song-birds, hopping on twiggy little legs and belting out its melody once again.
In response Mindlesskit gave a small snort. A half amused good-morning to the feathered creature that decided to wake him up.
Toadkit teetered out of the nursery, letting out a sleepy yawn revealing tiny sharp teeth. The bright sun hurt his green eyes and he had to squint until his eyes adjusted to the sudden change of light. He blinked up at the singing bird, a look of annoyance plastered his face. "Ugh. Did that dumb bird wake you up to?" he asked Mindlesskit, rubbing a paw over one of his eyes.
As if offended by the comment, the bird let out a final warble, fluffing its feathers like a cat might ruffle in distaste, before beating its wings in a show of force rather impressive for such a tiny bird as it launched itself forward and disappeared into the ivory blaring halo of the sun's glare, voyaging off to some unknown spot in heaven.
Mindlesskit watched it go, one short, quiet moment of silence, before turning back to Toadkit with a shrug. "Yeah. It sure was loud." He said, before pausing to stretch his small, fluffy frame. "Still better than my sister poking me awake, though." He said with a half laugh as he gave his pelt a small shake.
Toadkit let out a small chuckle at Mindlesskit's joke about his sister. "Yeah, mine too" he added. He flicked bedding from behind one of his ears before continuing. "Well, now that I'm awake, is there something you want to do?"
"Oh, sure! I was actually going to find a good place with space to practice some of the battle moves my mom taught me. I could show you how to do them too, if you wanted." He offered cheerily, a tinge of hopefulness in his voice that Toadkit would accept the offer, as often enough he practiced his fighting moves alone. He loved his siblings dearly, but they were near impossible to train with. His twin sinblings were always up to something else since they tended to spend all their time together, Noxiouskit was never anywhere to be seen, and Illustriouskit tended to just be too obnoxious and flighty most of the time to work with. It was also understandable that most kittens would prefer to play than spend an entire day just practicing battle skills, but Mindlesskit, despite his name, tended to have a dedicate one-track mind towards self-improvement.
"I'll try to! Most of the things I'm learning aren't too hard, so I don't think you'd have much trouble with them." Mindlesskit explained, before taking a second to gaze around camp, searching for parts that were sparsely populated. The day was still young, the sun a fresh face in the heavens, but with patrols leaving before even the first tinge of color traced the ebony heavens most of the morning patrols were now returning back from hunting or checking borders, leaving most of the areas of camp filled with warriors chatting and enjoying breakfast. It was a common lively sight, but it unfortunately limited places to do something that required space.
Still, the kitten managed to catch sight of a shady spot under the lower hangings of a tree. For a full grown warrior the space might have seemed a hint claustrophobic, but for young kits there was plenty of room sprawling both above and below. "Oh, let's go over there." Mindlesskit suggested, waving his tail for Toadkit to follow as he bounded over to the little place he caught sight of, quick to claim the area before some other kits or smaller apprentices could invade it.
