Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Juniperkit cheerfully bounced from the medicine cat den back to the nursery. She had gotten sick again last night, though that didn't deplete her energy. She hadn't even made it halfway when she felt the looming presence of someone behind her. Too afraid to look, but scared to be reprimanded if she didn't turn around, Juniperkit slowly turned around to see Violetstar behind her. Her worries melted away and she resumed her cheery disposition, innocently purring in greeting to her leader. "G'morning, Violetstar!"
“Good morning little one.” The feline purred softly in response. Violetstar was known to be a kind leader to her clanmates, and always trying to make sure they were as happy as possible with their lives. Even the kittens that resides within the clan. “How are you doing?”
"I'm okay now!" She beamed. "My tummy was upset last night, so I had to sleep in the medicine cat den again." She didn't seem bothered by anything. Juniperkit had a very strong will, unwavered by any ailment. "Goldrush wants me to sleep more, but I wanna play! Will you play with me, Violetstar? Are you busy?" Her voice was pure, with her intentions innocent. Most of the kits in the nursery found her weird, so she didn't have many playmates. With no one else around, she figured that the leader wouldn't be that busy.
She listened carefully, then finally sat down and curled her tail gingerly over her paws. “I think we should probably listen to Goldrush, then. Don’t you think? He only wants you to get better.” She explained, looking down at the little kit as she spoke.
Juniperkit gave an almost comical frown. "Aww, but I wanna play! I'm always cooped up in the nursery, I never get to go out like the other kits do!" She slumped, a very obviously upset look on her face. The blue kitten was smaller than normal for her age, and it made all her movements funnier. "Do you think, after I rest a bit, then we can play?"
“Maybe.” She responded then, feeling a tad bit sorry for the little runt. “Maybe for just a short time. I don’t want Goldrush to bite my tail off, after all.” She purred towards the end, but Goldrush would never do such a thing. She knew that much.
Juniperkit gasped loudly. "Goldrush can bite your tail off?" The small blue kit shivered at the thought of making him mad! Now she knew to lay off a bit- at least from now on. "Great StarClan! Do you think he would bite my tail off too if I don't listen?" While she wasn't young enough to take Violetstar seriously, she was still too young to differentiate fact from fiction. She didn't really believe the medicine cat could bite tails off, but she could envision what Goldrush could be like when he's very angry- and it was not pleasant, to say the least
A chuckle came from the leader, her kind eyes gazing at the kit with a light-hearted love. It was a cute little thing, Juniperkit. “Well, he can. I don’t think he will though.” She assured her, lowering herself so that her front half was laid upon the ground. “How are you feeling today?”
"I'm feeling a lot better than I was last night. But I really wanna play!" She had so much bound up energy, young Juniperkit. Almost her entire young life so far has been plagued by sickness but she never let it get to her.
Violetstar nodded to the little kit. “You spend a lot of time with Goldrush, don’t you?” She mewed softly, having already been thinking about a few things and pondering them over. Violetstar held a fear of her clan being left without a medicine cat some day, and she found herself worrying as time passed.
She nodded her small blue head. "Yeah! He's really nice. He helps me a lot when I'm sick and shows me all the different plants he uses to help cats. I've even been picking up on some of them!" Juniperkit quickly looked around the camp before quickly putting herself as close to Violetstars ears as she could, whispering softly, "Goldrush said that whenever I feel sick I can just go to his den and help myself. And- and, sometimes, when he's too busy, I take a tiny bit of herbs back to the nursery to see what they do!" She giggled to herself.
The conversation they were having was giving her a good solid thought. Definitely setting a few things in stone. Violetstar felt herself smile slightly, her gaze never leaving the small kit. “You like herbs? It sounds like you’re learning rather quickly, and you’re still young.” She praised, her tail tip twitching.
She felt her face warm at the leaders compliment. "T-Thank you! I just really like seeing what they do... And Goldrush is a good teacher! He doesn't get too mad at me when I make a mistake and he shows me how to do things myself instead of needing help all the time." She liked the feeling of being independent, as the queens and her siblings often sheltered her due to her getting sick or hurt so easily.
“You seem different than the other kits. I don’t mean you getting sick, either. Tell me, do you like playing with the other kits? Pretending to hunt, and fight?” Violetstar wanted to be sure, she wouldn’t want to steer the kit on the wrong path, after all.
She face went from bright to sunken at the mention of other kits. "Well... I like to talk to them, and I think they like to talk to me.. Sometimes I try to play with them, but the other kits can be really rough..." She sighed an exasperated sigh. "I tell them to go easy on me, but they just either make fun of me or just ignore me. Goldrush is nice to me, he doesn't care if I can't play as much! He lets me take breaks and do things at my own pace." She smiled at the thought of the medicine cat. He was so kind to her, seeing her as more than her condition.
Violetstar listened carefully, feeling a little crushed that the other kits would tease her. She made a mental note to have a talk with them, but pushed aside the thought for the current moment. “Goldrush is a good tom.” She commented softly, her eyes never leaving the kit. “Do you like the things he teaches you?”
"Oh yes!" Her small golden eyes glittered with enthusiasm. "I love hearing his teachings! It makes me feel good to feel... useful. I don't always have to bother him or anyone else when I'm sick- I can just help myself now."
She nodded a little. Finally she bent to get eye level with the kitten, of whom was almost apprentice age. “Would you like to be the medicine cat apprentice?” It was a very straight forward question, but she trusted that Juniperkit knew what she may want out of life at this point. Especially knowing that she wasn’t like the other kits in the nursery.
The medicine cat? Was this real? Juniperkit froze for a moment. "Can I..? I mean... am.. am I allowed to?" Her voice began to shake with her body, though she wasn't scared or nervous. She was excited.
