Heartpaw had been avoiding Twilightbell since MoonClan's takeover. While he'd known her rank of Soothsayer Promised from Foxstar's mentioning her promotion at the gatherings, he'd never really known what the rank was, or what it did. Given that Foxstar was leader, he simply assumed it was, perhaps, a renamed Medicine Cat Apprentice position. One that may or may not have let whoever held the rank have a mate and kits, though he figured that was hardly irrelevant to him. Now, from hearing the whispers of the SunClan cats, he'd gathered more information on the position, and found himself horrified at the thought that Twilightbell, as a cat who's rank meant more than just being a healer despite what he'd assumed, would have such a massive part in the capture of his clan.
Truly, he still didn't have the full picture, knowing only that the rank held great power and influence within the clan, and that she had a paw in teaching the future Priestesses and Soothsayers of the clan. Not enough to understand, but more than enough for him to feel hurt, betrayed even. Had she just been using him as a means to an end? A way to gather information he may have accidentally leaked about information to SunClan, to Foxstar. Was everything they'd had a lie? He wasn't sure what to believe anymore, so he'd isolated himself as he tried to figure it out, hoping equally that she'd forget about him, and that she'd show up to talk with him. Heartpaw wasn't exactly sure which fate would be worse.
Ever since MoonClan's takeover, Twilightbell had found it more and more difficult to see Heartpaw. Now her clanmates might pick up on any suspicious activity between them and on top of that, she was pretty sure he was avoiding her. Why? Had she done something to upset him? She couldn't think of anything she had said that might be offensive. Then there was that dream she'd had....Things really didn't make sense anymore. Today she had to speak to Heartpaw though. He had to listen to what she had to say. Even if he didn't want to speak to her after that...Well...It would hurt, but at least he would know the truth. With this in mind, she had walked up behind him, her expression was no different than any other SunClan cat that might approach a MoonClan cat at first. "We need to talk." When she spoke her voice was low. Hopefully he would go with her. Otherwise she was going to have to think of some excuse to make him go.
The tom froze at the sound of her voice, his eyes sharp and displeased at her order, but Heartpaw knew better than to argue with a SunClan cat. Maybe Twilightbell just wanted to take him off to the side and attack him, like her clan had done to his, metaphorically, or literally, killing the one thing that might hold her back in life. A part of his mind argued that she'd never do that to him, but in his hurt, he suppressed that rational part, his tail flicking a mocking sort of gesture for her to lead the way as he turned, gaze still hard and unhappy. "I don't exactly get much of a choice, do I?"
"At this point no. You don't have a choice. You are going to hear me out whether you like it or not." Her large orange eyes were narrowed. She was irritated to say the least. She had no idea why he would be avoiding her, but she was going to find out today." She was already scolding herself for sounding so demanding of him. It was a habit really. In SunClan she was in a position that demanded respect. She wasn't Foxstar of course, but she still expected others to respect her. She had always acted differently with Heartpaw. He was the exception to her normal behavior as he was special. She finally sighed and her expression softened. "Please? I promise it's something you need to hear."
