Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Cherrykit yawned as she padded outside the nursery, watching the warriors begin to go about their daily duties. Now that Eternalstar had announced her intention to let kits as young as three moons old begin training, she could feel that her time as a mere kit was almost up. She sat down and laid her tail neatly over her paws, watching the entrance to the warriors' den like a hawk. Sure, some cats found her a little creepy, but if she was going to be the best apprentice among her peers, she figured she would need a headstart of some kind.
"What are you doing?" Empiricalkit asked, raising a measuring brow as she slipped from the nursery and almost bumped into Cherrykit. Her blue eyes scanned the camp quickly for Eternalstar, wary of running into the leader. While some might say Cicero's daughter saved her from him, Empiricalkit knew too much of the world and Eternalstar herself to think that came without a price. So far the leader had only pulled her and the others aside once and it was to tell them that once she sorted things out they would be deemed 'orphans'. The kits over 3 moons but not yet 6 moons, getting a name to match their own in-between status. She wondered where the leader would stow them away.
Cherrykit gave her Clanmate a blank stare before turning back to watch the camp. "Resting," she murmured, sighing almost imperceptibly. "And I'm using my time resting to my advantage by watching the camp, see how it all works, stuff like that." She gave Empiricalkit another look, a quizzical one this time; though Cherrykit had once prided herself on knowing every last detail of what was going down in the nurser, she didn't really know much about Empiricalkit besides her name. "...What are you doing?" she eventually settled on as a response.
Amused by Cherrykit's counter comment Empiricalkit let out a light huff but decided to humor her. "Hiding from Eternalstar. Or maybe hiding is to strong a word, more like avoiding and trying to just stay out of the way." It might have been more beneficial for her to do as Cherrykit was and try to learn more about the going ons of camp seeing as the whole idea of a clan was still almost a foreign idea of her. But she would only do that in the safety of numbers, preferably with her two brothers around.
Cherrykit blinked. "Oh. Cool." If Cherrykit had been a little younger and a little more desperate, she'd probably consider 'turning in' Empiricalkit to Eternalstar; after all, if the leader was looking for the kit, then surely the Clanmate who brought them to her would get some kind of reward? But it was kind of nice just sitting here, and Cherrykit found that she couldn't be bothered getting up. "Wait, why are you avoiding her?"
Empiricalkit had thought, just for a moment, that she might have escaped the question. Not because she was unwilling to answer, but simply because it was such a complicated answer. "The simple answer is because if she finds me she's going to want something. And I don't want to give her anything." There was a lot of history packed into her words, so much that unpacking it seemed daunting. Though such undertones likely would pass right over a kits head.
