MOONCLAN Asphodel paused only a heartbeat to glance back, a new expression on her face, one that no one in the clan had ever seen from the cold, isolated feline. It was a fiery look, full of anger, and pain, and most of all, hatred. Most cats in MoonClan despised Foxstar, but this, this look on the cream tabby's face, spoke to something much deeper, much more personal. "Tell them I loved them, Quietstep."
It was only a few moments later that she was at Swiftstorm's side, glaring at the SunClan cats ahead of her, a round of hisses rising into the air at her presence. She was Daylight, after all, who had attempted to assassinate the Priestess moons ago, had stolen Foxstar's daughter, Inferiorchoice and brought her to MoonClan under the name Lily, claiming the she-cat as her own child, until she was forced back to SunClan by her father as an apprentice, never again seen by her supposed mother Asphodel or MoonClan.
"Why should anyone be surprised, when the leader of the SunClan is a traitor!?" Daylight's voice was a shout, rising well above the yells of her clanmates and of SunClan. At the point, she had nothing to lose, so she may as well expose the cat who had caused her so much pain. She rolled her shoulder, wincing ever so slightly. The old injury had always given her pain, but now, that discomfort only seemed to fuel the fire in her heart.
"I was a mere kit when my mother, Skystar died, and Lilystar took power. When the Shadow Stalkers came, lead by Narcissus, I was angry and joined them, not knowing what I was doing. Foxstar, however, knew full well that she was betraying her clan. Even when an apprentice was killed, Firepaw, Foxstar, known as Foxdusk then, never turned back. She attacked SunClan with them, turning against the clanmates she grew up with, against the clan she now leads. I won't claim my own innocence, as I betrayed SunClan too, but at least I turned around and asked for forgiveness when a fight broke out. Foxdusk? Well, she left in exile, fleeing to DayClan as Foxdawn. But not before convincing Deal to attack a young apprentice, myself, for nothing more than her own amusement. She took Deal on as a mate, after getting him exiled from his own clan, only to eventually turn on him too. I'm sure you've all heard about the curse she placed on him, after all."
Daylight had given up on convincing SunClan that the Priestess had any faults at all, they were all content to turn a blind eye to the injustices of the cat they called a leader. No, she spoke to MoonClan, to the cats who'd taken her in and never judged her, despite her being so secretive about her past, and for that matter, for outright lying about her own origins. They never knew she was the daughter of a SunClan leader, but looking at her now, in the golden light of dawn, it was almost too obvious, her fur shining bright like fire, sky blue eyes endless and shining with a confidence and purpose that had never seemed to be there before.
"She betrayed SunClan, and left DayClan the moment it no longer suited her purposes, claiming that she saved the leader, Drizzlestar, to secure her place in SunClan again. But I wonder, how in the world did the dog get there? SunClan is close to twolegplace, but wild dogs are rare, and there were no twolegs in sight. It's convenient isn't it? How Drizzlestar lost a life to get Foxdawn, renamed Foxhour, back into the clan. Even more so, no one has questioned how she ended up leader in the first place, or about the deaths surrounding her name. The entirety of SunClan's high ranked cats disappears in less than a moon, leaving Foxstar, a deputy of barely a moon at the time, to lead them. And no one questions it. Don't forget the deaths of Crowlight and Crowluminescence. Foxstar was suspect number one in the former, and the latter died on the night of her lives ceremony. I don't know what she's told her clan about their murders, but I believe in my heart that she is responsible, some way, some how." The she-cat moved quickly as she continued to speak, away from Swiftstorm and the rest of MoonClan, and more than that away from SunClan. Those that weren't paused momentarily by her words would be coming to kill her for the treason she spoke. Climbing to the top of the leader's den, where announcements were made, she continued to speak, even as she saw cats scrambling up after her, claws extended.
"And more recently, she kidnapped DayClan's leader, forcing her to risk her life to become a SunClan member, whether she wanted to or not. Then she took over DayClan by threatening their kits, and when DayClan and SpringClan were on her land, she took their children, keeping them for their own, until other clans finally freed the two. Now she's come for MoonClan, intent on forcing us to obey, or she'll kill us all too, just like she's done to Lureluster already! Foxstar is a traitor, a corrupt dictator who cares only for herself. Anyone who follows her is complicit in all that she does, for they endorse a murder, a cat who would bring a fellow traitor and murderer in Narcissus to SunClan as one of their own members, tarnishing the name of the clan my mother and Lilystar had hope in."
She was done, and just in time, for Zendikdominance and Deathaccumulation had reached her then, shoving her head first down the rock pile. They wouldn't kill her, that was Foxstar's job, but that didn't mean they'd get her to the High Priestess unharmed. Asphodel tumbled down the rocks, her head and limbs striking sharply against the stones, leaving her dizzy and in agony as she landed on the ground, blood trickling from her forehead. Almost certainly, she'd broken something, and her head throbbed with an almost blinding pain. It didn't matter though. Soon, she'd be back with her mother, with her siblings and father, Barleystar of DayClan. They were waiting for her, she could feel it, and Daylight didn't fear her death. If she'd convinced even one cat, in MoonClan or SunClan, that Foxstar was a force that needed to be stopped, then she'd succeeded.
SUNCLAN Daylight was dragged before the High Priestess, a trail of blood following in the queen's wake as she was dropped in front of Foxstar, the fox-hearted Priestess wearing a look that could kill as she looked down at the pitiful sight before her. Daylight, or Asphodel as she heard the name ripple through the MoonClan crowd, had created problems for her in the future. Her little announcement, one that had at least a little bit of information she couldn't have known on her own, would have ramifications in SunClan, if any of her members believed the word of a traitor.
"You call me a traitor? When you and Deal tried to kill me? When you stole my daughter from me?" She shouldn't have said those things, for what happened in SunClan was secret, but Foxstar couldn't help herself this time. The ivy eyed feline was downright shaking with rage, the confidence replaced with a deep seated fury that rivaled Daylight's own hateful look. "You deserve a fate much worse than death, but I suppose it will have to suffice."
The bloody she-cat, crimson staining her entire front, lunged for Daylight on he ground, claws going for her throat. They connected, but not before Asphodel rose up teeth digging into her shoulder, even as blood ran down the queen's front. Daylight bit deep, as hard as she could with her waning strength into Foxstar's flesh, the Priestess forced to grit her teeth at the pain.
But soon enough, the MoonClan she-cat's eyes glazed over, and she went limp, landing with a dull thud on the ground, blood pooling around her body. Dead. Foxstar had killed a cat who'd given birth only hours before, and yet, there was the smallest of smiles on Asphodel's face, as though she were finally at peace.
"Surrender, MoonClan! Unless you want to end up like your two clanmates here." Foxstar ordered, her gaze gleaming dangerously. In the span of a few minutes, two cats were dead by her paws, and she clearly had no intentions of calling off the kill order until they did as she said.
In the back of the attacking party, a scream rang out, full of anger and grief, and Inferiorchoice burst forth from SunClan's ranks, heading not for her mother, Foxstar, but for Daylight's body, tears already streaming down her face. SunClan knew that Asphodel had taken her as a kit, and now MoonClan did too. Her patched tabby pelt was familiar, as were the green eyes and angular features. MoonClan knew her as Lily, the apprentice and daughter of Asphodel who disappeared one day and never returned, despite efforts to search for her. She was fully grown now, and the resemblance to Foxstar was undeniable, yet the SunClan warrior buried her nose in Asphodel's fur, curling up protectively around the body of the parent she knew. Maybe Foxstar had birthed her, but Daylight had raised her, and for that, the MoonClan queen would always be her mother, just as MoonClan would always be her home, if they'd ever have her again after this.
