Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"Fernweaver," Oceaneyes mewed as she came to stand next to the feline. When all this mess had started, she'd simply been a young apprentice and they were all unsure if they would make it through. She furrowed her brows and laid her tail lightly on the medicine cat's shoulder. "I have news." She mewed softly, the darkness of the tunnels hiding her expression. Her and Frostcry had been gone for what seemed like too long, weeks possibly.
The small cat turned her head in the direction of the other, her bright yellow eyes burning with curiosity. "Good news?" she meowed, trying to fight the hope in her voice. Although the Regime had been filled with gracious hosts, she couldn't help but admit that she wanted to go home. She'd spent half of her life now tucked away in tunnels. With each day that passed, she grew more and more sure that she didn't want to spend the rest of her life doing the same. No matter how kind the others were - she'd have friends in the guiders that she would carry with her for a long time - the tunnels were cramped and dark and dirty. Although she had been a little nervous to watch the duo go off alone without medical care into the great beyond, that night, she had sent a silent prayer to StarClan that their journey would be fruitful. She'd spent most of the time they were away fretting about them. Had they been eating? Were they hurt? Had they gotten lost? What information would they bring back? Lacelily had had to tell her to focus during her last session of training. She couldn't help it though: who could blame her for her mind wandering to the two cats who may well have the fate of the clan in their paws? "Did you find something out there?"
"We did." She mewed, her voice lighter than it had been in what seemed to be moons. They may have lost everything almost, and cats had died or disappeared, but this was light a tiny pinprick of light at the end of this long dark tunnel. "Frostcry and I have found a suitable place for SunClan to make their home. I believe that we will all be happy here, and content." Her words turned into a purr, hardly even able to believe herself. "We will announce it to the others soon, and within a day or so make our journey there and begin to build our home back."
There was a soft glow in the young cat's eyes - they had found something! She felt a swirl of emotions: relief, hope, unbridled joy at the idea that their time in the Regime was coming to a close. She let out a soft purr, the excitement of the news bringing a slight chill down her spine. "I just knew you would!" Fernweaver replied. "If anyone could do it, it was the two of you." The medicine cat did genuinely believe that. She hadn't been exactly sure why she had been so confident in the pair, but her intuition was strong. The young cat brushed against the warrior affectionately, a silent sign of gratitude that she had been willing to face the great unknown. As Oceanweaver continued to speak, though, Fernweaver found herself slightly nervous. Within a day? Would they have enough time to prepare for that? She'd need traveling herbs for everyone, would the Regime be willing to let her use their supplies? That was doubtful, but would she be able to travel outside of their territory and get back before her clan left? Maybe she could convince the Shaman to lend her enough for the elders and the youth, given that she would return the herbs as soon as they were settled on a territory. Her mind buzzed at a million miles an hour, a moment passing as she considered the news. Then, as if she was pulling herself back into focus, the young medicine cat offered a resolute nod. "How far will we need to travel?"
Oceaneyes couldn't help but find herself giving a purr in response to the medicine cat. "It's relatively close, and Frostcry and I even managed to find a tunnel system that connects us directly to our regime friends. Though, I think it would be better to travel above ground. The journey was easier than expected, and I believe we can make it there within the day if we don't take many travel breaks." She explained lightly, thinking to the young cats or the older ones. She was sure they'd make it, if not, they'd simply camp out and finish traveling the next day.
"I think the excitement of going to a new home will be enough to keep us going, honestly."
Fernweaver nodded along, trying to let the other's words comfort her. If it wasn't too far, then there were only a few cats she'd have to be particularly concerned about. Her ear twitched as her thoughts went briefly to her brother, whose burns were now more healed, but still weren't exactly perfect. A days journey wouldn't be too bad for that, though, would it? She let out a soft sigh, before nodding.
"I'm sure you're right. About half of us seem like we are about to go mad if we stay in these tunnels much longer. I'm sure cats will be more than willing to push a little further to find our happy ending." A small smile passed across her face. "Above ground will be best," she then agreed, making a silent note about how capable Oceaneyes seemed at organizing. "That way, we won't have to risk too many sprained paws because we can't see right." That would at least put her mind somewhat at ease. "Have you told our hosts yet?"
Oceaneyes lifted a paw and placed it on the medicine cat's shoulder. "Don't fret too much. We will make this journey, and it will all be worth it, Fernweaver. Trust me." She paused,"Trust StarClan. We have been blessed with this new land, and I promise that I believe all of us will be happy there."
"I plan to speak to the commander soon. I wanted to deliver the news to you first." She mewed. "It would simply fair better for us if we could all see on the journey. I find it difficult to navigate the tunnels." It was an interesting thing for the leader to admit to. As many of their clanmates had seen how comfortable she'd seemed with the regime. They'd all thought she'd fit in so well, and had expected her to live the rest of her life with them. Then, StarClan had spoken, and things had changed drastically.
