Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Foxfa... No, his name wasn't Foxfable anymore. His ear twitched uncomfortably; although he had officially been named the evening before and earned his lives, it was still hard for the young tom to wrap his head around the fact that he was now to be called Foxstar. If he had been unsure about whether he was qualified to be deputy, the tiny thing was even less certain that he was meant to be leader. However, the time for uncertainty was over. He had a clan to lead. Which meant that he had an important decision to make... His tail twitched back and forth. The new leader had been watching the SummerClan camp all afternoon, trying to study each and every one of the adult aged cats. One of them would become his right paw, but who ? He closed his eyes for a moment, trying to remember if StarClan had given him any sort of sign. They should have known that he needed one, right? But, no matter how hard he thought, he couldn't come up with a single sign in his ceremony. The stress of this reality was enough to raise his blood pressure, which always came with a tightening of his chest. He almost looked like he was going to have a panic attack, before he heard pawsteps as they approached him and straightened up.

Radiantcosmos lay sunbathing, her belly full from a vole. giving a big yawn and stretch she looked around camp, kits playing, elders chatting warriors and apprentices returning from patrol or sharing prey. It was a good day, everyone was whispering about who they thought would be the next deputy. she had a few ideas of her own but, that decision was not hers to make.
With a big yawn whe scanned the camp again spotting Foxstar, the new leader of Summerclan. rising to her paws she trotted over to congratulate him, she hadn't had a chance to since the ceremony. "Congradulations Foxstar!" she purred dipping her head to him. "A new journey begins for you!" here eyes where bright and sympathetic, there was a lot of confusion with the sudden change in leaders, and she did not envy his position, working through the confusion of his clan.
Foxstar was relieved to have someone come up to him that wasn't Sunny or Cypresspaw. Although he loved his medicine cat and medicine cat apprentice dearly, they seemed even more fretful than normal. Perhaps that was normal, given the circumstances, but it would be nice to socialize with someone who didn't have a supply of herbs at the ready any time he sneezed. "Radiantcosmos!" he greeted, a smile, his tail flicking slightly. He offered her a nod of gratitude, a purr rumbling in his chest.
"It sure does," he meowed with a soft chuckle, trying to hide the tiredness in his tone. "A new journey with for all of us, I suppose. Can't say I ... expected to start the journey so soon, but, well, StarClan seemed to have other things in mind." There was a hint of nervousness in his tone; the young tom was following very similar life steps to his step-mother, and he was critically aware of where that had left her. StarClan had made Aspenstar a leader young too, what if he continued to follow her fate? "How have you been the last few days?"

She gave her leader a sympathetic smile, "I am well!" she mewed settling down across from him. "The clan is well fed, though we could use some organization!" she purred in an attempt to lighten Foxstar's worries. She looked around again, spotting buffalokit tumbling around with a mouse, "well fed enough to where the kits think food is for play." Radientcosmos made note to talk to the kit soon about not playing with the fresh kill.
She glanced back at Foxstar and studied him for a moment. " You know, you don't have to do this alone..." plenty of the clan supported the him, enough to where it didn't matter if a few cats didn't. She knew she would support him. "You have a whole clan to back you." Her thoughts flicked one cat she new was salty but decided to keep it to herself for the moment, perhaps after awhile even they would come to accept the new leader.
"Good, I'm glad to hear that," he meowed with a smile, before offering an awkward chuckle. "I suppose that's my job to fix now, right?" His gaze shifted to the kitten, and instantly, a purr radiated from the center of his chest. "We should probably step in, but he looks like he's having fun," he meowed with amusement. Foxstar was growing a reputation for being... soft on the kittens. Although he kept his eye on all of them, when they misbehaved, he tended to look the other way. He couldn't help it, though - just a year ago, he was in their exact place.
When she spoke again, he found himself shifting slightly. She was probably right- he didn't have to do this alone. Even if there were cats who found him unqualified - he really couldn't blame him, he was practically still wet behind the ears - he had cats that supported him with their whole heart. He was quiet for a moment, letting his silver gaze look out into the distance. "Well, most of a whole clan, at least," he then meowed, his lips ever so slightly bent into a frown. Out of all of the cats who doubted him, it was hardest to know that his own grandfather did. He cleared his throat, before looking back at her. "Deep down, though, I know," he admitted. "It's just... it's hard. Things have... been hard, for a while. Even when they start to look up, something happens, and everything is thrown up in the air again." As he spoke, there was a slight sadness in his tone, the sadness that could only be felt by a cat who still a child who had had their entire childhood upended. His young life had been nearly perfect, before it had been crushed by his father's infidelity. Just as he started to adapt to his new clan after he and Rosethorn left, the NightClan invasion happened. As soon as the clan started to recover from that, Rosethorn disappeared. He'd only just found his stride as deputy, only for Sunstar... He blinked the thoughts away. "Sorry, I didn't mean to bring down the mood," he quickly meowed, feeling suddenly very self-concious about his comment. "It'll be fine eventually, right?"

giving a lighthearted flick to his shoulder Radiantcosmo mewed, "Of course it will get better!" her thoughts wandered to the past, he was right. Sometimes life feels like it is always trying to knock you down, but eventually you get your grip and it is smooth sailing.
"When things go wrong, don't go with them." She mewed, quoting her mother. There was a fondness to those words for her, a sense of security almost. "That's what my mom always said anyway. That was her way of cheering me up."
Foxstar found himself smiling slightly; it had been too long since he'd heard any maternal advice. He missed Rosethorn desperately most days. She always knew what to do, even when what to do was incredibly hard. She was the strongest cat he had ever met, and he could only hope that some of that strength carried with him. He hadn't heard advice, good advice, since the day he had been appointed to deputy. Since his promotion, cats more or less assumed that he had grown past the need for guidance. He hadn't. In fact, he probably needed support and guidance more now than he ever did.
"I like that," he meowed after a beat of silence, his left ear flicking. "Mom's always know what to say." He then fluffed out his fur with a shake. "Let's act on her advice, shall we? There's been some errands I've been meaning to run to put us back on track, and I could use a hand."
Radiantcosmo nodded her head in agreement with an amused purr. I've been meaning to run to put us back on track, and I could use a hand. "of course!" she was always willing to lend a hand, though... she wondered if Foxstar had thought of a deputy yet, was he wanting advice on who to pick? "i can help where ever you need, until you pick a deputy that is." flicking her tail towards a few cats around camp. " i have a few recommendations if you would like." There where many good cats in camp, but she couldn't help her thoughts from straying to the idea of herself as deputy. She decided to keep that to herself, not wanting to intruded or sway the decision in her favor.
He smiled at her gratefully; busy work was always more enjoyable with someone else. His ear flicked when she offered more consistant help. The wheels began to turn in the young tom's mind, and when she continued, his interest piqued. "Oh yeah?" he meowed with a blink of his silver eyes before he let them roam to his other clan mates. He, too, had some ideas, but he was very curious about who the other thought was a suitable candidate. "I'd love to hear them. I have some inklings as to how I might decide, but it will be good to hear what you're thinking." His tone was warm as the tom once again glanced back towards the other cat. "I'd like to say I see the clan pretty clearly, but coast guards and garden keepers have an entirely different vantage point. There are things that you all see that I never will, especially because you all work more closely with one another." No matter how much he wanted to stay intimately connected with his peers, he was the leader, and it made sense that cats would be more on their best behavior around him. "You're judgment is strong, too, which always helps," he then added with a good natured wink.
{lol not me scrolling through all the cats in summer ;-;}
"Well," she began letting her eyes graze over the clan once again. her eyes spotting a black tabby tom, "There is crowflight, he is very loyal and always seems driven by the clan, though he can be stern and cold with his words at times." she trailed off searching for another cat. "Or perhapse... Devotedcrow, he was from another clan, but he has proven himself loyal to our clan. just like you." she purred encouragingly, "Though if fear the other cats would accuse you of picking him for that reason." Radiantcosmo fretted, and began scanning the cats for another.
There where so many great choices, but picking just one cat was hard. "Can't we make them all deputies !" The joke came with a purr and another friendly flick of her tail, almost like her brief worries never existed. Something she was good at, keeping a smile to not let those around her worry.
