Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
He passed one last unsure glance back to Sunveins- was he really going to do this? His jaw clenched slightly. It felt so wrong. Just nine moons ago he hadn't even lived here, taken from his birthright as soon as his mother was once again strong enough to move. Seven moons ago, Rose and he had returned to SummerClan. Six months ago, NightClan had taken over. Four months ago, they had freed themselves. Two months ago, he was appointed Coast Guard. A month and a half ago deputy. And now? He paused next to her, and his gaze held on Sunveins for a long moment, a secret cry for reassurance. She was the only one who knew what he was about to do, or what he thought he was about to do. There was a part of him that tried to convince himself not to, to run away, to hide, to never come out. But, holding her gaze for a long moment, he felt himself center a little. Was it a bad thing that her presence made him relax, if only slightly. He let out a soft sigh, before making his way to the leader's rock.
He stood on the rock silently for a long moment, letting his gaze shift across the campus. What was he doing? Some curious clan members already started to congregate below him, unsure why the deputy was on the highest perch. Some started to murmur amongst themselves as Foxfable just watched. He tried to keep the terror out of his eyes- it was too soon. Aspenstar had been promoted to leader at his age, and look how she turned out. He didn't want this, not yet, he wasn't ready. He hadn't been ready to be deputy, when Sunstar had given him the charm his mother had left....
Sunstar. His chest ached slightly, his jaw becoming tense. His gaze moved from the clan below him off into the distance. She should be here right now... Perhaps this was true. Sunstar should have been there, but she wasn't. He understood why it had to be like this, but that didn't mean he had to like it.
"Erm, uh," he meowed as he turned his gaze back to the cats milling below. "If you could, uh... take your seats." Not very commanding, there, are ya, Foxyboy. There was a slight nervousness in his voice, the same frantic nervousness that had been his signature this last moon. This time, his anxiety was justified. He didn't know what to say. What could he say? It was better for them all to know as little as possible. How could he explain that to them, though? These were Sunstar's friends, her family, her clan mates. Why would they believe him when he said it was best for them not to ask questions? The last few days had caused his first ever premature grey to sprout. Even if he had the energy to recount the whole tale - which he didn't, not now - it wasn't his to tell. Maybe, one day, they'd see the fluffy creature again. Then, she could tell the story, if she wanted to. But for now, it was unimportant. He could only imagine that her family wouldn't want to accept that, would want more information. If they did, he'd just remind them that that was about the same amount that he had gotten when his mother disappeared. What an irony, that twice, he would rise in the ranks because of something that needed to be kept a secret. Until things were figured out, until he knew more what was going on, his inability to answer questions would just have to be good enough.
"I bet you're all wondering what I'm doing up here," he meowed, shifting his weight awkwardly. "I am too, quite honestly." He let out a chuckle. "Jokes aside, I... I need you all to trust me. I ... I know that this is a big ask, but please." There was a tiredness in his voice, once he couldn't quite shake. "Sunstar has been sent away on a secret mission. She has departed us last night. I'm.... well..." He was starting to talk faster and faster, before he caught himself and sighed again. "I'm going to be honest. I don't know what I'm doing. What I do know is I guess you're... stuck with me now." He let out a nervous laugh. "I... It has to be like this. I... I don't know what to say. But we're going to get through this. It'll be okay." There was a soft determination in the young cat's voice, before he dipped his head to his peers. "At the end of the evening, Sunveins and I will make the journey to Moon Creek. Until then, though, may we feast in the honor of our former leader." u He then nodded once, before leaping back down, the crowd roaring a mix of chants of Foxstar and unsure murmurs.
Sunstar had been the only leader Cypresspaw had ever known, even if she had intimidated him, even if he hadn't know her that well at all, he felt a little pang. Mostly, it was anxiety. He was worried a switch of power wouldn't go over well, even though he knew that was his foolishness talking, because as far as he knew the clans had done it for generations. He was worried, mostly, for Foxfable. Not because Cypresspaw thought he couldn't handle it — he wasn't one to judge, and Foxfable had shown himself nothing but capable — but because, standing up there and addressing Summerclan, he just looked so unsure, apprehensive. From his words it seeped into the air, and Cypresspaw tried not to grimace. The secondhand embarrassment, he could hardly handle it, his chest was slightly constricted. He tried not to be so nervous, so uneasy, but optimism had never come easy to him, and it was always a struggle. What if Foxfable — Foxstar, he guessed, though Cypresspaw still found the change strange — messed up, or died, or got too stressed, or the clan didn't accept him, or just didn't feel he could do it? Was he prepared for each scenario? From where his tail lay in front of his paws, he kneaded it tensely.
At the end of the evening, Sunveins and I will make the journey to Moon Creek. With the words after, Foxfable's speech was over and the feast could begin, though Cypresspaw didn't find himself hungry. He slipped through the crowd, locating and approaching the new leader with a downturned mouth.
"Are you alright? For nerves I've got chamomile, I just collected some, there's passionflowers, it's very good for that, and, uh," his voice lowered to a mutter, mostly to himself, "valerian isn't in season. That's okay, there's others, I've been really studying the ones for anxiety and sleep and stuff, I can get you practically anything." Of course, it wasn't for any particular reason — was what he would tell anyone else, but it should be noted that whenever he filled up the chamomile stores there were always a few less than what he picked. "are your lungs good? I know you struggle with them. I —" he clamped his mouth shut and hung back from where he had practically been hovering over Foxfable, "I should leave the worrying to Sunveins, of course. Sorry. Or the not-worrying. Sorry." He smiled apologetically, almost entirely forgetting his status as simply an intern, an apprentice.

DAISYSPOTS Sitting tall with his fluffy tail wrapped over his paws, Daisyspots watched calmly, sadness hinted in his eyes. the loss of a leader was always something to morn, but what he mourned most was change, he was sure Foxfable would make a good leader, better than himself by all means. But change was not something the tom could ever get used to. "Foxstar! Foxstar!" He chanted he felt admiration for the tom, but not envy, he had big boots to fill.
BUFFALOKIT The sturdy kit sat shocked at the paws of the warriors around him, tears welled in his eyes and confusion muddled his mind. It only felt like yesterday that the leader had taught him how to make flower crowns, and now, she was just gone? Was it the same kind of gone as his mother? no he shook his head Foxfable said she was on a secret mission, so... it couldn't be that. His lip quivered slightly, he bit back a wail, he wasn't good with loss, though he held his head high when he talked about his mother, it still stung, and the loss of the leader that was so kind to him, reminded him of that pain. he was almost old enough to be an apprentice though so he stayed strong and searched the crowed for someone he could go to for comfort.
As much as Sunveins had been born into a home of tragedy, she had rarely experienced loss on her own. She had never remembered her mother, never known her father, and when her brother and her foster parent had disappeared, she had been so young, and Howlingheart had taken his place in her life so easily that she barely remembered what it felt to be alone. SummerClan had been a staple, and so were its cats, but Sunstar had been one of the cats she had known since she was a kit.
Sunveins could still remember the way Sunstar–well, Sunpaw back then–had marched into her life when she was still a kit, demanding her to change her name because there could only be one Sun in this clan, and how their slight rivalry had evolved into one of the closest friendships she had. She had worried and fretted over the leader for the last few moons, worried that the pressure of taking over the space her father had left would be too much, giggled over how silly it was, leaving the two of them in charge of a clan and totally out of their depth, how after all of this, they'd still be best friends, just best friends with a little more responsibility.
Now she was gone, and Sunveins could feel the gaping hole in her heart. She didn't know what was up, or why Sunstar had left so suddenly; she knew there was something the leader had to do, something she had to discover on her own, her own journey to be made, but it didn't make her heart ache less. She was proud of Foxfable as she always was; she wouldn't admit that she loved him any more than she loved a friend, but gods, she worried for him and his condition, and she knew he'd be what SummerClan needed, even if cats didn't always see it that way. "Foxstar!" she cheered loudly, both pride and sorrow written across her gaze.
She quickly slipped to his side after, but Cypresspaw had beat her to it. She waited until he was finished, before speaking up. "Don't give him too much chamomile," she piped up, "we don't want him falling asleep on his journey to the Moon Creek. Have you tried making travelling herbs yet?" She gave Cypresspaw a smile, proud that he was picking everything up so quickly. "I can teach you that tonight, if you'd like."
One would've thought that Southernskies would be proud of his kin. His own grandson; he truly loved his family of course, and truly, Foxpaw was named after the daughter he had lost–big shoes to fill regardless–so he should've been proud, but he couldn't feel that way. He had hoped his own kits would turn out well once, and some of them did. He was proud of Howlingheart, and he had never stopped being proud of Foxpaw and even Phantomfox to some degree, but he remembered the NightClan cats all too well, heard stories of what his son had done, to Ratstar, to his mate, and as much as he hoped Foxfable–no, Foxstar–would be different, there was a wariness within him as well; the elder no longer trusted blindly.
"Have we forgotten so quickly what NightClan has done to us?" he asked, more to himself than to the cats around him, "can we truly trust a NightClan cat to do us justice or are we once again, an extension of those NightClanners, except more insidiously?" He wasn't much of a gossip, but he knew apples didn't often fall far from the tree.
Midnightkit, sitting nearby, looked up to Southernskies with a look of confusion, before trotting over to Buffalokit. "Guess what I heard!" she whispered to Buffalokit, "I think the elders aren't really happy with everything...I wonder where Sunstar went..."

BUFFALOKIT RUbbing the tears from his eyes he greeted midnightkit “I bet it was somewhere really cool.” He mewed, his worries dulled by the presence of his friend. “With lots of flowers and waterfalls.” He gave a little sniffle.
"Well, isn't he your grandchild, sugar?" meowed another cat as she padded up, her green gaze delighted at the sound of incoming gossip. "If he was as big and bad as you say, an 'extension of our oppressors,'" she meowed, leaning in to whisper in her ear, "that the family of a traitor would look just as likely to plot some sort of grand scheme?" Cloudletter let out a giggle, before pulling away. She wasn't helping Foxfable because she liked him, or because she wanted to do him a favor. She was strictly trying to be a problem, something she liked to do as often as she could. She pulled away from him with a grin, before tilting her head. "Just something to think about, honeybee," she meowed with a wink. And just like that, she waltzed away just as quickly as she came, not even waiting for the old man to respond. Foxfable smiled at the medicine cat apprentice, for a moment stuck on the fact that the three cats left to care for SummerClan were, well, children. Sunstar hadn't been much older than the rest of them, but it was different then. Rosethorn had balanced out her youthful inexperience. And when he had been promoted, Sunstar had been leader for a little while, long enough that she had some sort of sense. And now, she was gone, leaving three cats barely out of the nursery to figure things out. What a mess they were in.
"I'm okay, I promise," he meowed to the tom, offering a tired nod. It was mostly a lie. His body ached, he was exhausted, the exact opposite of what someone wanted out of a newly christened leader. "It'll be okay." The words felt foreign in his mouth; although he had always been one to believe the sun was coming out tomorrow, that things would work out for the best, his dedication to his mantra seemed to be lacking from what it normally was. At the end of the day, he couldn't be positive that it would. "Are you coming with us tonight? You're more than welcome," he assured him. "I'm not sure if you've been to Moon Creek before, but if you haven't, maybe we can have our first time together. Some sort of bonding thing, I guess," he continued, his voice regaining some of its normal kindness. He didn't want Cypresspaw to think he wasn't invited; although he hadn't said his name earlier, that was more to give him an out if he didn't want to make the journey.
He was about to say more when the medicine cat slipped to his side. Fox... star found himself unintentionally moving towards her. The pull she had on him was magnetic, even if he wouldn't admit it to himself. Some things shouldn't be admitted. "Speak of the devil, you're right, I'm sure she's worrying too," he meowed with a soft chuckle, glancing over to her. "I don't know what for, though. I'm a big strong leader now, right?" The uncertainty never left his voice, but it was softer now, less perceptible. Sunveins was his emotional support medicine cat, it seemed. When she said something about him falling asleep, the little tom couldn't help but roll his eyes playfully. "Me? Fall asleep at the wheel? I wouldn't dream of it. Gotta be on my best game when StarClan tells me there's been a mistake, ya know?"

Radiantcosmo sat with her head held high, she felt the pang of losing a leader, but also the joy of gaining a new one. It was always a confusing time, the transition between leaders. It was a time to greave loss, But also celebrate change. She chanted with the rest of the clan before rising to her paws her long silver pelt hiding her long legs. She padded over to the two kits, "I think you are right!" she purred. "I bet it is the most amazing place!" She gave buffalokit an encouraging nudge, glancing to midnightkit she mewed, "And i bet she is doing really awesome things! i am sure the elders will come around, So don't worry to much!"
Have you tried making travelling herbs yet? He shook his head — where he could excel in one subject, he usually floundered in most others, and the actual uses and mixtures of other herbs were lost on him more often than not (not for lack of trying, of course, he was still new to it all, and there always seemed like so much to learn), so he was much better at organizing stocks and checking up on patients under her order. Still, he preferred learning over not learning, doing something instead of nothing because he'd spent his whole life doing nothing. Often, if he wasn't dead asleep or laying awake in his nest, he was up at strange hours of the night counting and recounting, reciting the names of the herbs and their uses he learned that day, even if it didn't stick in his tired state.
He turned his attention back to Foxfable. "I have, I went to a meeting there once. It's quite pretty." He smiled, almost wistfully, and his ears perked up at the other's invitation. He shifted on his paws, thinking it over — there was obviously something between them, he just couldn't figure out what, and it always made the air strange whenever he brought one of them up to the other, and god forbid they be in the same room. He had noticed it just then, the slight alter of the atmosphere. But also it was the Moon Creek, and if Foxfable was going to get nine lives he wanted to be there too. He wondered if he would see anything. He wondered if it would change Foxfable. He could ignore the obvious fact he would third-wheel. Cypresspaw nodded, "yes, if it's not intruding," he gave a slight laugh, "and it'll help me learn the way better. Last time I nearly got lost."
Dawnflicker had been confused when it was Foxfable on the rock instead of Sunstar, the young tom clearly nervous in his position, more than usual. She was immediately suspiscious, watching him with a slight frown, entirely puzzled. Sunstar has been sent away on a secret mission. She has departed us last night. Already, there was a million questions she wanted to ask — 'was she alright?' or 'was she safe?' or simply 'why?', but he had already begun talking again, ending the meeting briskly and hopping down to talk to the medicine-cats. She tried not to feel as bad as she did, it was only a mission after all, she would return, but any sort of loss, permanent or not, always found its way to worm into Dawnflicker's heart. Gone indefinitely. Her own sister, she was told upon her return, had done the same thing; left without a trace for an unknown amount of time. It hit too close, not only for the similarities, but for the fact that Sunstar and her had just kickstarted what they both would call a tentative friendship after her accidental betrayal.
Radiantcosmo had taken a seat quite close, and Dawnflicker turned to look at her, spotting the whispering kits as well. And I bet she is doing really awesome things! She felt like she should say something, only meeting them with a forlorn look, but her mouth stayed closed.
