Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
This month, there’s a small change to take note of. From now on, the MVP award has been renamed the Site Helper award, for someone who you think deserves it for their contributions to Classic's community. Like it? Hate it? Want to call it the Gold Star award instead? Let us know down below! Please, I don't know what I'm doing.
As an additional change, we would like to extend the period in which a user cannot be nominated for a category after winning it from two months to three months. This would take effect during the May OTMs nomination thread, aka next month's nomination thread. This is intended to help spread nominations and award wins more widely among Classic's users. This cooldown would apply to every award category except for the pair category and the couple category; if you have any feedback on this proposal (agree, disagree, think the cooldown should apply to less categories, think the cooldown should apply to all categories, etc) then once again, please let us know how you feel about this proposal down below.

site helper: if mvp is a no, i much prefer gold star award, it sounds less clinical and single-y out-y and just more fun. site helper just feels like there’s a lot of pressure <3
pair/couple: i love it the way it is, with that distinction between platonic and romantic. i think it adds a lovely and important layer, and if it was just one single category it could get confusing.
too many categories: not at all <3 for me, there’s the perfect amount that covers everything we’d want or need, and if you don’t wanna fill them all in, you don’t have to <3 win-win for those who don’t want to and for those who do <3 i’d be sad to see any go or combined.
three months cooldown: i don’t really mind. i think two months is alright and that if someone/a clan is going to win because of merit, that’s not a bad thing <3 but i also understand why three months could be good, to avoid clique-y favourites, and they go quickly anyway, so i’m not fussed <3 awards should be earned, but at the same time they should make people happy on a site that’s meant for happiness, so either way it’s fine by me! people should feel good about themselves and have fun and feel valued and appreciated and loved <3 like a family!
also, does the cooldown apply to users winning character otm as well? because in the past i think it hasn’t and i think that should continue, with pair/couple and character otms being exempt, because it’s not really YOU winning <3 and so many people have so many amazing, diverse characters!
fox Good question regarding whether the extended cooldown period would be applied to the character OTMs. I went back as far as the March 2021 OTM nomination thread from a year ago and the only categories that didn't have the cooldown at that time were pair and couple, so I'm inclined to say the cooldown would indeed apply to the character category. If that's something people want to change then this is the perfect place to talk about it, so I might add it to the thread OP. Thanks!
Also, keeping it as the MVP award isn't totally out of the question if enough people really want it to stay that way, I just figured that was a fairly uncontroversial/not as 'important' change to make, as opposed to an extended cooldown/cutting some categories.

ROLEPLAYER -- goldcrest, their characters are always so amazing and so engaging to read, and their responses, especially ones that describe enviorments and settings, are just beautiful. their description of the cavern Druzyprince and Bumblebeepaw were in has been in my head ever since they wrote it and like sincerely it's enough to just bring it to life, they make it feels like you could actually be there <3
CHARACTER -- Lilacpaw by childe. he is such a prissy, bratty darling and i love him. i live for the thread between him and bumblebeepaw, but also just any threads with lilacpaw and anyone. he's so melodramatic he's amazing <3
PAIR -- Kier by fox and Puzzlemaker by childe (they might be going in the catagory below soon if things keep getting spicy tho)
COUPLE -- Bacchuspaw by fox and Orrerypaw by me (do they count? they aren't confirmed but also everyone knows they're a couple even if they don't know they're a couple <333)
SITE HELPER -- achromatic. her layouts all around the site are beautiful, she's so active, and her plots and ideas are just so creative and awesome i can't <3
CREATOR -- fox. she's amazing, she bring so many new and interesting plots, all her characters become my favorites after 5 second of reading of them, and i would join new clans just to make my character interact with any of the new ones she brings into existance so there. i voted for her last month because her writing is just beautiful and now i contend both on that and just how amazing all her character creations are she should be named creator of the month (exibit A. Small notes on suggestion about of the month awards <3
- I like site helper, but I actually feel like it might be a bit too specific; it feels like it only applies to people who are really active or maybe making layouts for the site? I think MVP was nice because it added a lot of things to be interpreted on what it could means, which I think is true of a lot of other catagories on the list. I think the vagueness helps somtimes and allows it to mean something a little different but still worth being recognized. Gold Star award is cute, MVP is nostalgic, I'm not against site helper but it does feel a bit rigid and like fox says, a bit too 'serious', a little intense.
- While I respect three months, sometimes I feel like even 2 months is hard. There are some times when people really knock your socks off with things continually two months or even three months in a row, and it feels hard to not give people the credit you feel is due. While I think the 2 month rules should probably stay in place because it makes sure everyone gets a chance to be recognized, I think 3 might be too much. BUT I think it should really be what makes people feel recognized at the end of the day, and I have noticed in the past it tends to be they same handful of people for a while getting nominated for certain awards, so I do see both sides. I also like fox's take on not making character of the month having cool downs, it feels odd that the 2 other character-centric ones don't have cool downs but the singular character specific one does.
- I like all our catagories, in fact there's kind of one that I felt recently might, just might, be worth considering. Something like quote of the month, but instead it's out of character writing and not in-character writing. As in, if someone has a beautiful piece of descriptive writing, a lovely bit of symbolism, or an in-character non-dialogue take of wisdom on the world, I think it would be really neat if we could acknowledge that too. And often times, our character's inner-dialogues are sometimes more colorful than their outer-dialogues, how they percieve the world can be just as rich as how they express themselves. Just a thought, it might be a little too out there, and I have no clue how you would word it without it essentially sounding like "quote of the month but from the users" because if you called it Out Of Character Quote of the Month award that's what it would sound like.
by the way i would like to note i have given all these takes above while extremely tired so they should be taken with a grain of salt.

wrenpansy You know what, I think we actually do allow users to nominate quotes like what you're suggesting, not just lines of dialogue, because I remember people doing it in the past. I think I might add a little note in the category description that lets users know they can nominate non-spoken dialogue quotes like that. Thanks!
(also the site helper award aka the mvp award is probably going to be renamed the gold star award based on what i'm hearing here LMAO so if anyone really objects to that now is the time to speak up)
