Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Often, Tulipkit would find herself clambering up to the edges of windows or standing on her back paws to peer out of them, taking in everything she could see of the outside, every tree, every animal that wandered too close to the Lunar Estate, every phase of the moon. She was diligent in classes, a darling for the Mothers, never speaking out of turn or stepping out of line, never wanting for more, but occasionally she would find herself looking out, wondering, thinking, for no reason in particular. She wasn't sure what she wanted to find. Sometimes she wasn't even looking at all, sometimes she was just thinking.
Now, Tulipkit found herself peering out once more, having clambered onto an old, dusty cushion in a crook of the wall, leaning her tiny paws on the window just above where the back of the seat ended. It wasn't quite her bedtime yet, but it was late enough that the moon was beginning to lower, the stars were beginning to fade.

Sapphirekit had kept an eye on Tulipkit, perhaps too close of an eye.
She had become all too aware of every other fledgling in the nursery, every one that was vying for a spot to be promoted. In the stillness of her adopted father's voice, this had become a competition. And it wasn't one Sapphirekit could afford to loose. Not when she had 4 other siblings to watch out for. If there were only 5 seats ahead, she had to get them all. Even if it meant playing dirty. She hated the feeling, the one that twisted inside her gut as everyone finally settled down for the night and she saw Tulipkit in the windowsill. But it was one she'd have to learn to live with.
It wasn't like her siblings were super reckless and crazy, but that it was definitely too much for one cat like Sapphirekit to handle. As they settled down, stretching in every direction to take as much of the soft nest as they could, she noticed not much had been left for her. She couldn't blame them, she too had dreams or nightmares of the cold woods just outside the estate. The grey she-kit considered forcing her way in, like she usually did. But sleep hadn't quite closed it's grip on her and her gaze wandered to the window again.
Her footsteps were light and quiet, as she could feel the mothers' eyes on her back. Stretching up the leg of the seat, she asked Tulipkit in a hushed voice, "Mind if I join you?"
She turned her eyes away from the window and down, towards the voice, blinking at Sapphirekit in silence for a moment before shifting over, making room. "You can," she whispered back.
The request was almost strange, because she wasn't all too familiar with the other, she didn't watch her like Sapphirekit watched Tulipkit, she didn't see her as competition. Though, there were the few times she found herself curious. In a lot of ways, she could already tell they were similar, the same devotion, the same sense of pressure, though it didn't have a name just yet, and when Sapphirekit was the last in her nest of siblings, with not enough space for herself, Tulipkit had the same problem. With her own littermates, she didn't let them take up so much space because she actually cared for their comfortability, but because she was supposed to be kind, to be caring, and to do so meant making sacrifices. When she found herself getting annoyed, angry, she told herself that wasn't what Selene wanted, and that wasn't what was expected of her when she was assigned Waning.
Before long, she had already turned her head to stare out into the woods again, though it seemed to take less of her attention than before.

Sapphirekit glanced backwards for a moment, finding herself suddenly unsure about joining Tulipkit. Thinking about talking to the other she-kit and doing it were two different things, and her throat dried at the thought. Her paws still moved on their own accord, hopping up on the bench with as much grace as a kitten could have. The soft thud echoed in the otherwise silent room, and Sapphirekit quickly laid down and tucked her paws under her. There was still a small gap between the two, enough space to distinguish the two.
Sapphirekit had also felt the familiarity, for lack of a better term. They were the eldest, the ones chosen by Selene. She blinked, finding her gaze roaming outside the window too. "Don't you get lonely up here?" The question slipped through Sapphirekit's lips before she could think about it, and she jerked her head away. "Not... that you got to tell me."
Don't you get lonely up here? It took a thoughtful moment before she responded, "sometimes," she hummed, though she hadn't meant it as dolefully as she had said it. Her eyes looked up towards the moon, peeking past the trees just enough that she could see the tops of it. "But with Selene watching so closely, it's not that bad." The Moon Goddess felt more like a friend. She wondered what a conversation with her was like.
Tulipkit's eyes snapped away from the window, like a trance had been broken, and she gazed down at Sapphirekit beside her. "Do you?" She sat down, turned to face the other, paws placed neatly in front of her as she blinked down. The question was more like an offering — if they were both lonely, if they both felt lonely, they could be less so if they were together. "Not that you've got to tell me, either."

Sapphirekit felt her stomach twist into a knot. A feeling she wanted so desperately to force away crawled up her skin again. She couldn't explain it anymore, the reason behind it gone. But she still felt like something was wrong. She couldn't put her paw on it, and the feeling had died down for a long time. So she got her hopes up, that she could get some peace from it.
But with Selene watching so closely, it's not that bad
And that made it crop up again. Sapphirekit looked down at her paws, as if enchanted with the way the Selene had stitched them together. ... Yes, that's right. Tulipkit was right. Selene was right. There was nothing to feel odd about. Despite, and maybe even in spite of that feeling, she chose to find some comfort in those words.
When presented the offering, she slowly lifted her head. It was an easy answer. Yes. It was horribly lonely being the oldest. Some part of Sapphirekit would give anything to give that to someone else, but she also knows she could never do that. Just the thought made her feel guilty. She should consider what to say, do some sort of calculation. But her answer surged in her throat. "Yeah. A lot actually." Though her feelings were rushed, her voice stayed calm, gently turning towards Tulipkit. Gee, what was wrong with her? She bit on her tongue to keep it from licking her lips.
A lot actually. There was a slight curiosity, marred with sympathy, in the way Tulipkit tilted her head ever so slightly at Sapphirekit, brows creasing, though it was hardly noticeable. Tulipkit could understand, even with Selene on her side. She wasn't particularly close to her siblings — in a way, she thought herself above them, because she was the oldest, chosen as a caregiver from birth and having to fill that role ever since, to be the more mature one who set an example, who played nice for the adults while her siblings got to be the cute add-ons. And, not only that, but she felt partially responsible for the tinge of sadness her mother seemed to carry, however little she saw of her now. She felt the need to make that worth it, and so Tulipkit tried to be the best she could, the brightest and the sweetest like she was supposed to be.
It was a forlorn existence, and though she could only imagine that those in similar positions to her could feel the same, to have it spoken outright made her feel a little less alone. She didn't want to bring the mood down even more by prodding — despite the relatability, a creeping discomfort began to crawl through her pelt at such openness — so instead she offered a smile and sat up, moving to stare down the edge of the seat.
"That's alright," she whispered, trying to sound as cheerful as she could, "if we're together, then we aren't alone anymore." Casting a look around to make sure nobody stirred or spotted them, Tulipkit jumped to the floor below, flicking her tail in a gesture that asked Sapphirekit to follow. "Want to accompany me on my mission?" She asked, utterly serious in her request despite the light tone. "It's for," she looked around again, "The Pine Queen — she's the queen of the forest and she said it's very important. We can be her knights." Tulipkit didn't bother to mention the fact that she made it all up, but her tone didn't convey that — she spoke pridefully, as if there really were a forest queen who gave her an important task to complete.
