Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Off to the side of camp, nearby a tree, was the small, round, cream form of kitten, his always moon-wide amber eyes intently focused on the ground. Every once in a while they would paw at an ever growing hole they had made in front of them, their tiny paw at this point coated in thick dirt so caked on it was practically black in color. But they didn't seem to mind.
This was how they usually spent their days when they could manage to bring themselves to shyly face the outside world, the many foreign faces of warriors and apprentices that were neither his family nor really even friends; just strangers he knew he was supposed to be acquinted with. They were to him like the extended family you only saw on rare seasons and occasions, the ones you were supposed to smile and greet and treat them like you had some great connection that you knew you really didn't have, but they were blood so you pretended you did anyways. But instead of blood, they were bound together by a similar placeand ]general location, and that to him held even less meaning. Even if it had been some foreigen extended family, it wouldn't have stopped that anxious unfamiliarity from bubbeling up in his tiny chest, his nerves all about him when a stranger even so much as set their eyes on him. He often found himself not even feeling fully at ease around the cat who had raised him, or the siblings he had been with since birth; the random cats of Summerclan really had no chance.
He truly was a timid thing, and fittingly he had hobbies that were in keeping with that. One of them was his quiet hobby of digging up earth worms; pulling them from the earth to watch them slither and flop and flail around on the surface, before gently returning them to the tiny hole they had created once more. Or maybe it wasn't so tiny anymore. With days of hard work, Marigoldkit had managed to make a ditch that if one wasn't careful they could easily trip into and break an ankle, or at the very least cause an ugly fall. But he was oblivious to that; all he knew was that the deeper he dug, the more likely he was to find a worm for observation. And so he continued digging; a litter deeper, a little wider, content to be lost in his search and his own quiet daydreams.

Had Midnightkit been born with opposable thumbs and a knack for vocabulary, she'd be a poet. She had a lot of thoughts about the world, marveling at the fields where ghosts still clung to life, the way the sky seemed to stretch across with no ends, how the clouds sometimes looked like the waves crashing upon an invisible sea...she'd love to just marvel at the world around her with no responsibility at all. Her favourites so far were definitely the way the light shone through spring leaves, making them seem almost translucent, and oh! Sunsets. The best things were sunsets. She was almost envious of her sister's name, though the mystery of the night made her pretty content with her own.
Today was no different, she was marveling at the way the meadows outside of the camp were now dappled in white and yellows, streaks of it like a painting, only changing when she looked closely and realized they were flowers. Flowers! She was still young enough to not really know what they looked like, other than the snowdrops that appeared in the winter. She was trotting towards the tree she often tried to climb to get a better look, when a dip in the ground made her stumble and roll down into the strange ditch that seemed to appear out of nowhere, straight into Marigoldkit.
A squeak left her mouth as she blinked, realizing she was sitting on something...something fluffy. Oh! She immediately jumped into the air, before scrambling off the other kit. "Sorry!" she spoke, her eyes wide, "are you okay?"
For a long span of time he froze perfectly still, completely dumbfounded. In part it was out of the sheer shock, and another out of sheer, awkward shyness, but even in the context of why, it didn't change the fact he didn't move an inch. Like a statue, or some scared forest animal who knew their only chance of surviving was to stay playing dead, or going limp, or just not showing any signs they were aware of the world at all. But eventually, as if slowly coming to his senses that he couldn't just not make a sound forever, he slightly repositioned himself from when Midnightkit had fallen on him.
His wide amber eyes lifted gently, nervous and shy and awkward, and the stopped just before they would have met hers. He didn't dare make eye contact. "I'm fine..." When he finally spoke, his voice was so soft, so hoarse, so meek, it could be hardly called a reassurance that he was actually okay, though he seemed, beyond what anyone else might call his "strange behavior", perfectly fine. After another moment of complete stillness and perfect silence, his eyes started to lower softly, down to his tiny paws that were still tucked underneath him from when he had curled into himself from the impact of Midnightkit's fall. "I'm sorry." He eventually added, and though it was just as soft and timid as the last response, it seemed sincere. He really did feel bad, it was his hole she had tripped on, and if she had gotten hurt it would have been his fault. It only seemed right that she fell on top of him, it was only fair she did; it was his fault.

The way the cat stared at her made her take a step back, feeling just a little bit reproachful. Did she do something wrong? Midnightkit had a worried expression on her face, as she tilted her head towards him. "Um...can I help you to the medicine den then? If you're not–"
The tom finally spoke, and she huffed a sigh of relief. Time seemed to freeze whenever things were awkward; unlike her sister, she didn't have the ability to smooth things over with a charming laugh or a smile. She was shy, plain, sarcastic, not the kind of cat who was easy to get along with. "Okay, that's good," she replied with a shy smile, though her knitted brows made it look more like a grimace than anything else. She didn't know why he was apologizing at all.
"Why are you sorry?" she replied with a frown, "I'm the one who bumped into you."
There was a long silence again, and in that time it seemed Marigoldkit had somehow managed to actually retreat into himself more. His paws tucking in tighter, his tail was now so pressed into his pelt it was practically invisible, his ears were lying so flat against his head he almost could have been mistaken for being earless. He was now, more than ever, a round ball of fluff, his large amber eyes locked on the ground, terrified to meet her gaze. He was horrified really, because he realized with a slow chill that she probably hadn't realized what had happened; that she had fallen into the hole he was digging, and that made it worse. Because he would have to tell her, he would have to explain and then prepared for the backlash, and that felt sincerely worse than if she had just realized, if she had just known from the start. For some reason, having to confess to it genuinely felt worse than anything being berated outright; perhaps, because he knew he would have to speak up more to explain.
But eventually, slowly, he opened his mouth to try and speak, his first attempt ending in a small "I-..." That broke off into breathy nothingness after the words chocked in his own throat. There was thusly another small expanse of silence, before his gaze briefly snapped up to hers in a small panic, as if expecting to see her get irritated or impatient with the time he was taking, and though he quickly found his eyes falling to the ground again, he equally found himself speeding up on his attempt to put his guilt-ridden thoughts into words. "I dug this hole... I'm sorry." He finally managed out, and winced as he said it, as if he expected any moment now Midnightkit would connect two-and-two together and he would get a bop to his head for being so stupid as to have dug the whole that made her fall in the first place.

There was one thing Midnightkit feared, more than anything, and it was when other kits cried in front of her. She could see the way his eyes darted away, the quiver in his voice, and the quick breathing that signaled a torrent of tears made Midnightkit immediately panic, and she was now stammering, trying to find the words to comfort the other kit lest their tears began to flow and she was now stuck with a younger, crying cat who she was certain the others would assume she was bullying.
Then he apologized and she blinked. The hole? At first, there was silence, and then a quiet sound, that slowly erupted into a fit of giggles. It was unclear why she found any of this amusing, but when she finally reigned in the peals of laughter, she wiped at her eyes, before giving Marigoldkit a look that seemed almost embarrassed by how she was acting.
"I just...I almost thought I was going to get in trouble for making a kit cry," she was biting her lip, trying to control her chuckles, "I thought I was in soooooo much trouble just now, I'm pretty sure your dad would have my pelt if I did anything mean to you." She gave the other kit a smile that almost looked like a grimace. "It's fine, I should've been looking at where I was going...but what are you digging for?"
